Hello World and Bill and Cathy and beyond!

This is the first of FIVE DAYS OFF!  I am so excited.  No real plans yet.  I’m kind of waiting to hear from Dick and Doug, but we’ll see.  They still may be “settling in” for their “winters nap”!  I should call Jon to see if they are doing anything.  I could always just drive over for the night.  We’ll see about that too.  I keep waiting to see if Ale posts anything.  They are busy with her family – I’m sure they are surrounded by all kinds of people.  If not, maybe they’ll enjoy a quiet time without the chaos!  Who knows.

So yesterday I met with my financial guy John Beane.  He told me that I can work full time and still get Beirne’s spousal income from Social Security now that I’ll be 65.  I’m a little doubtful about that, but I sure hope he is right.  So last night I went on line and “signed up”.  It was pretty easy.  I have proof I was married because I have the property split letter from back in 1989!  It took me a while to find it but I had it tucked away in a file.  I don’t know what his SS# is and I don’t want to know it so it was “optional”.  I am asking to start in January 2016.  That will give them time to get the paperwork processed – I figured if I used December 2015 that it would be too soon.  Now I sit and wait.  They say I can check back next week to see how the application went.  I still think I’ll call them to see if I get a “voice” to confirm.  I love doing things “on line” but still have my doubts about getting it right.  So we’ll see.

He told me to pay off my credit cards and my motor scooter.  I’ll do that.  Then he said I have a liquid fund that he’d like to start investing for me beginning in March.  That will give me a couple of months worth of SS $$ to get used to and it should be coming in by then.  He is happy with my investments and so I am too.  I trust him and it gets too complicated for me to do “my own thing”.  I feel comfortable with the way my investments have grown.  I also like the fact that I’m still invested in my 401K at work.  Otherwise, I wouldn’t save anything.  It’s great that Moorings Park matches at 6%.  That is such a great thing for me.  I can’t imagine people who don’t “take advantage” of that.  I think it is just their ignorance, but then again, I’m getting paid a great hourly wage and perhaps they don’t have the ability to save and still feed and clothe their families.  Another advantage of having cats!

Time to take a shower and get rolling.  It’s 7:45 and Wylie is still in bed.  Got to get her up so I can make the bed!  Thanks for visiting!
