Good Morning Everyone, here and beyond!

My friend Roy Pardee was in a motorcycle accident on Friday.  He was at the intersection of Livingston and Golden Gate (I go through that intersection everyday going to work).  A truck hit him and he was taken to the trauma center at Lee Memorial Hospital.  He is there now awaiting surgery on Monday – for what I’m not sure.  I’m hoping we can go up there to see him today.  I’ve got a lot to do but would like to do that somehow.  Not sure if we can get in to see him since we are not immediate family.  We have his room number.  8227a.  I just got a text from him with that room number.  He has a broken shoulder and broken ribs.  A chest tube – probably from the broken ribs.  That must be why he’ll need surgery.  I sure hope his insurance is active from his job – if not, he will be in terrible shape financially.  I’m praying for him as are my peeps from church.  Roy was a crack addict and alcoholic.  He was homeless for a while and he lived at St. Matt’s.  He had recently been hired with Vitech.  He only had a motorcycle for a vehicle.  Had a truck that was a piece of crap and finally died.  Most recently he bought a van from his company and was getting on his feet.  Found a roommate to share expenses in his apartment.  So he was getting a better life.  So this is quite a set back.  Here is a picture of him.  He’s the tall one.

He was the original “GRAPEMAN”.  I think I have a picture of him in the original outfit:

We have since updated the outfit.

He is a good sport.  Enthusiastic about his program of recovery and fun to be around.  Here he is with our friend Steve.  He doesn’t swim and they went fishing in the kayak!

So prayers for his quick recovery and that his pain is controlled so he won’t need to change his sobriety date.  Also praying for the team of medical staff who will be working with him at the hospital and that God protects him from any infections that could cause more harm.

So my friend Martha is in rehab from a hip replacement.  I hope she is doing better.  I have a picture of her with her husband Ray who passed away last year.

We’re praying for her quick recovery too.  Her son is coming to be with her when she is released.  She should be getting home soon.

So last night after thinking about Roy I was considering the idea of selling my scooter.  That is 2 good friends who have had accidents – first Steve who died, and now Roy.  I dropped Red2 in the driveway the other day.  I had to lift it on my own.  I got it up but there are scratches on the side of her.  I’m not really ready to get rid of her, but I think I’ll keep her in the garage for a while.  I feel safe riding her, since I just mostly ride her to The New Attitude Club.  Just about 1/4 mile on 41.  It is really freeing riding a 2 wheel vehicle.  I love the feeling when riding.  I avoid major roads and try to drive when the weather is “perfect” and I don’t like riding at night.  So I’m pretty careful.  But you know it is “the other guy” you need to look out for.  But I love my scooter.

Now I have another thing I’m thinking about.  Peter Diaz asked me if I was thinking about running for Area Grapevine Chair in October.  I told him I would pray about it.  I think I’ll research the position and see what it entails.  I’m sure they have guidelines for the position.  I think I’ll go do that now.

I need to get going.  Taking cookies to church (thank you Polly)!  Thanks for visiting.
