#307 Good Morning Saturday, June 18, 2016

Good Morning Everyone,

This is Father’s Day Weekend!  I’ve been thinking about pop for a few days now.  I love this picture of him:

Wow – that is over 70 years ago!  I remember a lot about pop.  I remember he always played “catch” with me in the front yard.  We would throw a semi-soft ball around.  He taught me how to cut the back yard with the lawn mower.  I never had to do the front yard – that was Jon’s and Bill’s job.  He was always a good provider for us.  We had a great home in Connecticut on Old Parish Road in Darien, Connecticut.  I remember always driving up to Chatham for a 2 week vacation at Pilgrim’s Village.  Here is the cabin we always stayed in:  I can’t readily find that picture.  I’m going to try to see if it is on a memory stick I have.  I’ll be right back”  Nope.  I’ll run across it one day!

I have it on my “back up” thing.  Life is good!  Lot’s of pictures on that.  So now I don’t have to worry about all those “old” pictures being lost!  Yippee!

So my friend Roy is going to speak this morning at the Lil’ White House today at 8.  I usually go to Morning Reflections on Saturday, but I’ll be going to support him and then it’s to Food Angels.  Here is a new picture of Roy:

He had a terrible motorcycle accident a few weeks ago.  He had to be airlifted to Ft. Myers trauma center.  He got a bill of over $100K.  He has NO MONEY, No insurance!  It’s tough for him, but he is staying sober and now has a new “pidgeon” so that will help keep him sober, too.  Plus he is a member of the Naples Group and we’ll keep him in the program if nothing else.  He gets to go back to work next week I believe.  I hope that happens.  It’s getting a little scarey for him.

We are starting a “Traditions Study” meeting at 7PM on Sunday nights.  It’s Roy’s idea.  He is pretty serious about it.  So I guess I’ll learn something.  Sometimes it bores me, but I need to get involved with that.  So I’ll be there.

To continue on the blog for Sunday, June 19th – real Father’s Day.  I’ve been drinking from this cup.  It belonged to dad:

I’m bringing cookies to church this morning and Bev needs me to count as Joe (her husband) is in the hospital with heart issues.  So I’ll be doing that plus reading the Prayer.

Yesterday I worked at Food Angels.  It was busy as usual.  I picked up a couple of items – plum tomatoes, 3 nectarines, 2 dozen cookies (I’m bringing back for today), Chicken Salad from Lucky’s, Raspberry Sticks, 2 containers of Clam Chowder.  There were cases and cases of cabbage.  Really heavy – I’d say 50 pounds.  Anyway, St. Matts will have stuffed cabbage for a year!  It makes me sad about all of the waste in this world.  But doing our small part to recycle makes me feel a little better.

I better get going now.  I’ll add to this all weekend.  Thanks for visiting!
