#326 Good Morning Friday, October 7, 2016

Well Good Morning Everyone!

Today is a “snow” day for me.  In Florida it is because of a Hurricane named Matthew.  I was supposed to go to Ft. Lauderdale for the Area Quarterly today.  But because of the Hurricane it was postponed.  I finished the schedules at work so I decided I would take the day off anyway.  As it turns out it is a blessing.  I’m going in to the Intergroup Office to work today because Betsy got a job today.  So now I’ll learn the POS system.  So it’s a good thing.

Jeff texted me and asked if there was anything he could do to help me, so I asked him to come over yesterday and move my porch furniture.  So now I’m set for the wind we are supposed to get because of the Hurricane.  Not feeling it yet.  But here is a picture of what I’m talking about.

Jeff did most of the work by putting the outside chairs into this space.  The hurricane curtain gets pulled over and then connects to a little smaller one.  I never knew that before.  We haven’t needed to do this in quite a while so I didn’t know how it worked, but now I do, so next time will be easier.  I’m also thinking that I should try to put the shutters up on a window one of these days – not while it’s raining at the last minute like I’d probably do left to my own devices.

I spoke to Jon last night – wondering if he got hit by the hurricane.  He said no.  But he is alone in the house right now – Ale is in Germany.  He is beginning to learn what it is like to be alone.  He said he’s had children for over 40 some years.  That is a LOT of time.  While he was having children in his life, I was drinking – over 40 years for me.  Funny how life turns out.  But last night he told me about his new eating lifestyle.  It is like Wheat Belly.  Not as complicated.  He sent me a website called DietDoctor.com.  I have it on my phone right now.  It is interesting.  It says to only eat when you are hungry.  Which is something I should remember.  I’m at Intergroup right now and I’ve skipped breakfast and lunch so far today.  It says to “fast” each day which I already do.  16:8.  16 hours fasting by fasting from evening until morning.  So after dinner (for me that is about 7PM), it says to fast for 16 hours.  So that would mean I wouldn’t eat until around 11 or Noon.  That should work for me each day.  I am feeling tight in all of my clothes.  So I know I need to lose weight.  So I’m going to try it.  See what happens and I’ll use the app too.

I’m not sure if I mentioned that I got an Apple watch – did I?  Anyway, I did.  I never thought I would get one but I really like it.  I forgot my phone at work yesterday but I had my watch and that was fine.  It reminds me to do things – like stand up and breathe.  It’s great!

It is fun to have because it turns black, but when it turns on, different flowers bloom on the face.  You can have other faces also.  I had one with something else on it before, but I already forget what it was.  I’m having trouble with remembering things these days.  It might be because I’m thinking about too much.

I still don’t have my accident settled yet.  But my leg is mostly healed now.  It is a little numb and feels funny when I kneel down on it.  The insurance check for $100K will just about cover the big bills but that hasn’t happened yet and then some of the littler ones I’ll be responsible for.  So that is weighing on my mind.  I did find my fitbit and my necklace the other day in a back zippered pocket of my fanny pack.  That was a nice surprise, so I dropped off a check for $250 to Ted’s so they can send it back to Progressive.

Now I think I’ll go over to the 24 hour club and get a diet coke.  Then I won’t need to get one at the 5:30 meeting today.  I’ve gone to the 8AM meeting today and will make it to that meeting also.  Plus I’m working at Intergroup for Betsy today.  The new POS system is pretty easy to work, but I’ve already seen some issues with it.  But I guess it is better than nothing and if it helps Bill, that is important.

Be right back…….

Chris is here now.  He just moved down here from “Jersey”.  He is planning to go over to the East Coast and make some $$ helping with Hurricane clean up.  More power to him.  I’m just happy that I have a job I can go to each day.

I’ve been thinking about Haiti.  A lot of our girls are from Haiti and the news said that 900 people have died there.  I’m sure it will happen that one or two of our people will have a relation that is in that group.  Another thing to worry about for our business.  All I can say is I’m glad the Hurricane didn’t come over here.  It seems that Ft. Lauderdale would have been OK after all, but you never can be too cautious.   It’s nice that I got a free day off anyway.  Hey, after 10 years of working at Moorings Park, I’ll be able to “cash in” my PTO for $$ in February.  I need to use 240 hours and I only need about 2 more days of PTO off and I’ll be set.  I’m taking the last Friday of October off to go to the Spiritual Weekend in Bradenton with Roy.  So I’ll just need to take one more day between now and February 29th and I’m sure I’ll be doing that.  Now I need to think about if I want to use up that “cash out” since it lowers my PTO Balance – but I still have over 400 hours in my bank.

I guess that’s about it for me now.  I’ll be closing up shop here in a minute or so.  Thanks for visiting.
