#336 Good Morning Sunday, February 12, 2017

Hello World,

Wow – the last time I posted was Christmas Eve of last year.  I guess I’ve come around to realizing I may not need to post in Wylie all of the time because my life is becoming so much happier.  I have a wonderful man in my life:

Me and Jeff

I think he really likes me.  We both were sick for a couple of weeks and didn’t see each other and it seemed we missed each other.  That is nice.  I still like my “alone” time and I think he does also.  We also like our own meetings and routines, typical AA members!

I also have a wonderful new hobby:

First Fill Up - $8.00

Since the first fill up, we are now paying around $11 for a tank.  I’ve been riding BB as much as I can.  In fact, I’ll probably ride her to Church this morning.  It’s going to be a wonderful day again today.  The weather has been cool in the morning, but gets up to 80 in the daytime.  I just LOVE FLORIDA!

So now my newest obsession is getting ready for retirement.  I have a meeting with John Beane this week and he is going to tell me how I can do that.  I’m still struggling with my accident from August.  I met with Ted last week and we have a couple of more options to get going.  I’m guessing that we might get another $150K and then I’ll be set – I can pay all of that off and be done with it.  I hope that is the way it will go.  More will be revealed.  Once I get my plan set with John, I’ll be able to give my notice.  I have my self evaluation due this month and I want to wait until after Thursday to get it done.  I’m thinking I might want to work part time at Grey Oaks.  They are starting their food service and I’d love to work with Mary Ann again.  Then I can commute a shorter distance and ride BB there more often.  So I need patience now and I’m praying for it.

So this is how sweet Jeff is – we like to text!  We are going to meet up for a walk around 4:30 today:

I couldn’t get the picture right on the first text, but he added “Yes Dear”.  It’s a joke between us.  Then I sent him XOXOXO and he sent back the next text.  He likes the short hand.  He doesn’t have email or a computer – so I will do all of that for us since I’m a geek about it.  I now have another computer at home to do my job as District Registrar.  It’s getting to be a fun job.  I like it and I’m learning a lot.  It’s a little complicated, but seems to be working OK.

One of the greatest things that has happened recently, is that I’ve been in contact with Bob Burn again in California.  He has rewritten the aanaples.org website.  It is so nice.  Here is a snapshot.

We had one of our “sessions” last Sunday, remotely.  He got on the computer through a meeting app and showed me a bunch about the new site.  Now I no longer need to contact Gary for the website.  Bob is writing code so that our meetings will be automatically put into a form so that Bill won’t have to do the schedule any longer – we’ll see how that goes.  But Bob found this great app called Meetingguide.org.  I set it up so that our meetings in Naples and Bonita are uploaded to it and now you can find meetings in our area with correct information.  Gary has never been very responsive to my requests and it was so frustrating.  Bob is quick to help and really enjoys it.  To be fair, Gary is a busy guy.  Bob is retired so he has more time to devote to it.  He has done the website for his groups out in California.

So that is so great.  I love it that I can get things done on it myself.  We’re having problems with Brandon the secretary for Intergroup.  Seems he doesn’t have a computer or some such problem.  Then we also can’t get the District Minutes done with – Michele is disappointing me, but I love her anyway.  I’m just glad I’m not doing that any longer.  I’ve texted her twice about them and no response so I’m letting it go.  It is up to her to get them done and since Jerry is her sponsor, he’ll need to deal with it.

So this last week was pretty sad in our AA community.  Don Popejoy died as a result of his COPD.  Dennis Sullivan died due to cancer I believe.  And our good friend Leo Collins died of a massive heart attack.  Wow!  He was 62 and here he is with his son at a wedding:  The picture is slow in coming and I need to go.  I’ll edit this later.  I’ll be back!

Leo was one of the “good ones”.  He was funny, smart and really kind.  He had just become our “librarian” at our Home Group.  The Librarian is the one who tells the joke before the speaker on Thursday nights.  We’ll need to replace him with someone.  I hope Ralph will step in for this.

It is a beautiful day today.  Here is a picture of the kids on the porch – they love the sun!

Well that’s about all for today.  I’ll be back one day.  Life is good.  Thanks for visiting!
