Hello World and beyond!

Today I am telling my boss that I am retiring.  I’ve been thinking about it for about a year – ever since I turned 65, but wanted to wait until I was 66 and collecting my spousal benefit from the IRS.  I’ve received it now for 2 months – on the 15th of the month.  I have done my self appraisal for this month and I’ll be getting a cash out of PTO for this last year.  It’s the first time in 11 years I have taken enough PTO to get it.  It all started with my motorcycle accident in August.  Jeff came into my life at that time and I’m happy that he did.  He is a good influence on me and professes his love for me.  I think he is honest about that.  It is a good feeling.  So anyway, I’m saying that my last day will be March 17th (St. Patty’s Day).  It is the end of a pay period.  I was thinking that perhaps Catherine (Kent’s assistant) might slip into the position.  She is young and very sweet.  I hope I don’t leave them in the lurch, but that really isn’t my problem.  I do care for my job and love the people I work with.  Moorings Park has been a wonderful experience for me.  I will always keep my friendships and many of the residents in my heart.

So this is “our” cactus:

Jeff picked it up at Freedom Park, it had fallen off of a large cactus and was on the ground.  So we brought it home and plopped it into the garden path and it’s beginning to grow.  It’s amazing.

I’m going to end this for now.  I’ll be back later to finish it after work, and let you know how my day goes!

Well, Lily is very happy for me.  I am very relieved.  Of course, what else could she do.  I’m glad she feels that way.  Once we get rolling on it, though, I think it might get a little dicey.  Anyway, more will be revealed.

This is the gift I got from Jeff for Valentine’s Day:

Anne Fredette who runs our Project Explore program from LWIT won the “Golden Apple” award this year.  She does an outstanding job and we are lucky to have this program at Moorings Park.  I’d have such a hard time doing that – it takes a special person.  But they did a presentation to all of us last week (on Monday) and then on Tuesday she learned that she won.  Here is a picture of her with her “kids”.

I guess that is about all for now.  I am looking forward to my next chapter.  I’m excited!  Thanks for visiting!
