#350 Good Morning Monday, July 31, 2017

Hello World,

So today is a milestone – #350.  That is pretty cool.  I can’t remember when I started this blog but it was a few years ago.  I don’t use it as often as I have in the past.  Not much going on, now that I’m retired, but I suppose that should give me more time to write on it.  Maybe I’ll start again.

I have been binge watching OZARK on Netflix.  Last night after 60 Minutes/Megan Kelly I watched it instead of TV.  I’ve been using my iPad to watch and listen to the movies.  It’s great.  I can lie on the couch and do that.  I must have watched 5 hours of it yesterday.  I don’t want to go through all of the series too fast, because it may not have a 2nd Season, but I would hope that it will.  Jason Bateman is the star and he is great.  It’s all about a guy and his family laundering money for a drug cartel and doing it in the Ozarks.

Jonny called me the other night – Saturday I think.  Ale is once again out of the country.  We talked about AA and Yoga.  I told him that we are doing the same thing.  I get my spirituality through AA and he gets it through Yoga.  Same thing.  He admitted he is a “functioning” alcoholic.  So it was a nice conversation.  I think he gets lonely when Ale leaves.  He had a house full of family over the last 2 weeks.  He complains about Pablo being there, but I think he doesn’t really like being by himself.  But Pablo needs to go – over 30 and still living with his mom.  They are just enabling him.  Jon is contributing to that too.  I’ll need to mention that to him but I just texted him and suggested that he charge him rent.  At least then he could feel like it’s a “boarder” and not a family member.

I need to get going.  Need to dry my hair so it can get wet in the rain this morning.  I’ll be back later.

Back again!  It’s raining today and there is a new tropical Storm named Emily off of our coast.  So it should rain most of the day.  It’s nice to be home for that today.  I’ll be going to the Intergroup Office this afternoon so that will give me something to do.

So last Saturday, the 22, I celebrated 15 years of sobriety.  Here is proof:

At New Attitudes, they celebrate anniversaries on the last Friday of the month.  I was the only one with a July Anniversary so it was only my name on the cake.  Bruce McAndrews does the cake and it’s delicious.  Only problem was that half of a piece of cake with icing is 11 points.  That blew the whole day for me.  But I must say it was really good.  Here is another picture:

So this is my new hairstyle.  I want to be all gray and it is getting there.  My hair will actually be silver once it grows out.  The last time I saw Karen she put a color in it that I didn’t like, but fortunately it has faded over time.  I’ll be going to her in a week or so.

I got a temporary job.  Phil Flannery (owns a pest control company) posted on FB that he was looking for a part time person for a month to help with scheduling while he and Esther are on vacation.  Esther does the scheduling now.  So anyway, they have family visiting and they are also going on a trip between early August to early September.  Since I’ll be here, I thought why not.  I’ve been told it is just a couple of hours a day – 5 days a week.  They will pay me $250 a week.  So that should be $1000.  So if it is 3 hours a day, 5 days a week for 4 weeks that equates to $16.66 per hour.  Which is great.  I think it could move into a permanent thing if Esther wants to give it up.  We’ll see.  It is supposed to be all done on the computer and then follow up calls to customers for reminders.  They will give me a phone for that too.  Anyway, I’ll know more on Wednesday when I go to see her and get trained.  Should be great.  We’ll see!

The other day I went to the beach – at Lowdermilk Park.  There are little chickees available on the edge of the beach.  I think I’ll go there when the weather gets cooler and hang out under the chickee.  This is the view from the other day:

View at Lowdermilk beach.  I love my town and the beaches here.  I just forget how great it is to live with these beautiful beaches.  But I have years ahead to get to the beach and enjoy it.  It’s just TOO DAMN HOT right now to enjoy it.  I don’t know how people do it.  Most of them go into the water, but even that is too hot for me.

Well, I’m going to stop now.  This is long enough for today.  I’ll be back another day and tell you how it goes with fixing my Lazy Boy Chair.
