#375 Sunday Morning April 1, 2018 – Happy Easter

Good Morning everyone,

It’s been a while since my last post.  It seems I’m not doing this as often, but maybe that is because I’ve retired and don’t have much to bitch about.  Always work related before?  Maybe?  Anyway so, Happy Easter:

Easter 2018

This is the picture I put on my FB page today.  So something I’m doing now is “Tweeting”.  I just finally got around to messing with it.  I don’t know if I will do it much, but Heather is my first follower!  So funny!  I’m following 14 things/people.  One is POTUS.  I looked on Twitter this morning and I saw Robert VanWinkle’s last broadcast.  It was sweet.  He is retiring as a weatherman and going to Arizona to care for his mom who has cancer.  Guess that says a lot about him.  So I guess it is worth doing – at least for now.

So right now I’ve been involved with the installation of my new cabinets and countertops.  It started last Tuesday when the cabinets were delivered to my house rather than the “shop”.  But that was probably better.  Dave came down to accept them.  His name is David Teets (unfortunate last name!) and he is really nice.  He is the supervisor.  Then he has two millennials working with him, Hunter and Garrett.  All of them are really nice and very good at what they do!  I’ve been home for most of the time they were here working.  They are really clean.  They make an effort to make the place look reasonable after their work day.  So here is the way the kitchen looked “Before”:

Before

Originally I was going to re-use the handles so I collected them all.  But I remember what Dick said about how nice it was to just change out the knobs and it was a new feeling.  So I picked out this one from Lowe’s:

Knob

When I sent the picture to Dick and Doug they called it “girly”, so I guess I’ll take that as a compliment.  Anyway, the knobs are coming to my house from Lowe’s.  Shipping out tomorrow.  Should be here for them to install, but if not, the holes will be drilled and I can put them on.  Now I’ll sell the handles.

So now is the way it looks today:

I need to go now.  More later…

They built in the refrigerator.  Not sure I’ll like that when I need to replace the refrigerator.  We’ll see.  The cabinets and drawers are self closing.  That is cool.  They need to hook up the dishwasher.  So now I need to wait for the countertops and the fixtures for the bathrooms.   Plus the mirrors.  Then the last thing will be the painting for the bathrooms.  I think I’ll do fuscia for the guest bath and purple for the master bath.  These are the color choices so far:

Paint choices

I can’t really tell, but we’ll see once the counters are in.  I want it to be high gloss though not matter what I choose.  Anyway, it isn’t easy with all of the choices out there.

So I went to the NAC breakfast today.  Allison and Con were both not there to set up.  That left me, Suzee, Mike and Charlie doing it all.  I’ve never done much beside the 50/50 so it was pretty bad.  I put water in the bread warmer, thinking it was like a bain marie.  Well that wasn’t right.  So that was the biggest mistake.  Then I don’t think people brought what they said they would bring.  Thank goodness for the eggs (cooked by Jim who does it for a living I found out) and Harold who brought the grits.  Carol brought bacon and pork.  But there were no potatoes that I knew of and no sausage.  I won the 50/50 so I took out my $10 and gave away the rest to the group.  So APRIL FOOL!

Then I left at 9:15 to go to church so I didn’t stay to clean up.  We did give away the chocolate bunny centerpieces and the flowers.  That was good.  The service at Lowdermilk was well attended.  I do love our little church.  Rosi and Marissa came with Marissa’s boyfriend.  Rosi is thinking about going on a Mission with Global Ministry.  It will be interesting to see how that turns out for her.

Now I’m home and going to take it easy today.  I’m still taking Musenix for my cold.  I’ll probably watch the Greatest Showman again.  I love that movie and now I own it plus I’ll be getting the DVD when it is released in a week or two.

Well that’s it for today.  Thanks for visiting.  See you in a few weeks!
