Good Morning Vietnam!

I watched the PBS special on Robin Williams last night.  It was really good.  So sad that he could not defeat his demons.  Parkinson’s is a pretty awful disease, though.  We have a few people that have it where I work and it makes things very difficult at times.  Aging can be a bitch.  So I went to the gym yesterday in anticipation of my “personal training” on the 26th.  We have an intern from FGCU and his project is to help us establish a good workout routine.  I’ve been trying to be more healthy and have given up wheat.  I made a macaroni casserole yesterday in……

and it turned out great.  But I have a bunch of it and I’m going to freeze portions of it.  But with the black bean dish I made last week with Quinoa I’ll have enough food to feed an army.  Oh well.  Anyway, the pasta I used yesterday is a “corn” pasta and I swear I can’t tell the difference from “flour” pasta.  It’s the bomb!

Yesterday I went to Lowdermilk for the Christening.  It had been a very rainy day, but the rain stopped for this.  We had been told that it was going to start at 6pm over the last couple of weeks, but then yesterday, it was changed to 5PM.  So I’m wondering how many people showed up at 6 after it was over.  Anyway, the gulf was pretty rough which was pretty awesome really.  So Rev. Cathy had been to Jordan and brought back water from the Jordan river (she had to buy it – funny) anyway, Michael mixed the Gulf water with the water from the Jordan river which was an awesome symbol that we are all connected all over the world.  My phone camera had switched to a sepia color when taking the picture, so this isn’t a natural color picture, but it gives you an idea of what was going on.

When we have a baptism at our church, we do it by immersion.  I did it a few years ago when Bruce Frogge was our Pastor.  It was really great doing it in the Gulf rather than in the Baptistry (spelling??) at the church.  I was brought up in a church where the minister just put a little “holy water” on your forehead and that was the baptism.  The immersion was much more meaningful to me.  Plus it is so cool that we live in such a great place where that can be done.

Ok – out of time today.   Have a beautiful day!

Mary, when you respond, your comment appears directly under mine. No email stuff. All comments, and replies are on same page, so to say. I remember only twice that another has commented on here, one from CA and one from 12th St S. Naples.

NO RAIN FOR Christening! Hoooray! Sepia makes a photo look like from 1927, etc. Kinda cool.

RE Robin W…you wrote “aging can be a bitch”. Someone told me a years ago, “Growing old is OK, BUT DON’T AGE!” I thought it was funny….but trying to follow it anyway, HA! Next….diapers, OMG!
