Good Morning Tuesday, October 21, 2014

Hello Everyone,

Woke up to the news that Oscar de la Renta died.  He was 82 – younger than my Aunt Pat!  I get these “push notices” from the Naples Daily News on my phone.  Constant bombardment of information – no wonder we are all a little crazy!  But I feed into it so that is my issue.

Now I’m thinking about the Corrections Picnic on Sunday.  We’ve done it for many years – I’ve just been involved for the last 3 years with the Corrections Committee.  We’re already up to 148 tickets sold.  There are many more sold tickets and I’ll be selling tickets at the door.  Last year we sold around 90 at “the door”.  If the weather is nice, it will be well attended and I’ve heard that the week is going to be rainy but the weekend should be nice.  I’ve got Steve and Roy helping me at the door.  Haven has a family commitment.  I’ll miss her.  Anyway, it will be fine.  I’m bringing the 50/50 tickets and we’ll be giving one raffle ticket away at the door for the 1st free soda.  After that they are $1.  Emilio is in charge of that.  We’re giving away a subscription to the Grapevine too.  Before we call the 50/50 winner we’ll pull a ticket for the Grapevine from those tickets.  It’s always good to get the word out about The Grapevine to this audience.  I have to remember that I’ve said I’ll bring a cooler for drinks.

Luann named her dog Riley!  I sent her a picture of Wylie and said I liked the name!  Glad she settled on that.  I was watching the news last night and saw a story on shelter dogs getting relocated to families by various pilots.  It’s grown to something like 4000 pilots participating.  It was really a great story.  I went to Pet Smart the other day to pick up some kitty litter supplies and there were a bunch of little dogs there for adoption.  They were so cute.  Some woman runs a shelter for “little dogs”.  I really wanted one!  But can’t do a dog just yet.  Maybe when I’m not working.  I’ll have to REALLY pray about that when the time comes.  I’ve told myself – no more pets.  As my kitties die, no replacements…..we’ll see!

Well, gotta get going.  On to work we go!  Is the gym in my future today?  If not probably tomorrow.  I’m thinking about Tables of Naples today at 5:30.  That is close to me.  We’ll see.

OH GOSH, is the Corrections Picnic THIS Sunday??? (Just kidding…I’ll be there. Is there setting up needed, like, a table for one of the ticket seller’s COFFEE CUPS? Umbrella for shade? Sweet rolls, eclairs (from Perkins Rest.), cannolis from anywhere would be “nice”…question is…what time to BE there?

I have NEVER left a Corrections Picnic without a S M I L E on my face! SO many people, families, enjoying the October Indian Summer at Vineyards Park.

Tables of Naples: Always good sobriety, and usually someone new, beautiful place which BEGS gratitude, and spirituality. BEST people attending. Also is a meeting place closer to MY house (Serenity Club is closer!) Only thing, I don’t really like meetings that “break up” into segments. I want to be where EVERYBODY is. It’s not a “female-male” thing. It’s like old throwback experiences, of never being “one of the crowd” ALWAYS the “outsider”…anyways–that is MY prob, nobody else’s BUTT…say WHAT???

Hey, I’m just feeling my oats today, been to rehearsal, went well…
