#208 Good Morning Friday, May 1, 2015

Good Morning,

Today is my brother Jon and Ale’s anniversary.  It is the #11 Wedding Anniversary.  This is how I remember (along with a reminder on my calendar plus Ale will post something on FB more than likely):

We had their service at The Registry when I was working there.  I just realized that right after that time I started working for Moorings Park – I just celebrated 10 years there.  Let me see if I can get a picture of them for the blog:  (All of the original pictures are on my desktop computer).

It is a “picture” of a picture.  Yesterday Ale posted a beautiful picture of their “media” room.  Let me go get it.

I love that!  It looks really nice and the picture shows off their beautiful pool area too.  I really hope she remembers to paint a BIG picture for me.  I’d love to have one on my livingroom wall above the plant shelf.  Lots of room for a mural up there.  Something like this would work!  It’s got to be BIG.

I need to send them an anniversary e-card.  Be right back……..Gotta love e-cards!

So today I woke up and in my in box was my electric bill.  Boy how convenient that is!  I’m amazed at how wonderful technology can be.  I’ll never pay my FPL bill late ever again – haven’t done it in over 30 years, but I’m also amazed that at my new little place, I live here for a mere $2 a day in electric!  My bill is $56.39  for 30 days which is automatically drafted from my checking account.  AMAZING!

So today is the first day of May.  Time is really moving fast.  I rode my new Red2 to the Founder’s Day Meeting last night at the Serenity Club.  I was happy to see the support.  DLC brought 2 vans of people to their 7PM meeting which ran simultaneously.  Our meeting was in the “other” room.  Guy was there working the Hot Dog machine.  Kathryn was there with her sample table decoration – really festive!  Sharon came to take the “minutes”.  Mike B was there, John Fish was there, John Fisher was there, Steve K was running the meeting since Jerry could not be there.  Dan E was there.  Bill M was there too.  There were a couple of other guys there I didn’t know but I guess they were “sponsees” who where following their sponsors.

It was chilly last night on Red2.  I wore my “Harley” jacket and the air was still cutting through it.  Still – I can’t say enough about Red2.  I said yesterday it’s the best thing I’ve done for myself in a LONG time.  I’m not even concerned about the money.  Just sold some stock and will pay it off early.  I bought a “saddle” bag like Jackie’s and strapped it on.  Only problem is that I can’t open the seat when it is on.  So I took it off and I’ll need to get a luggage rack to fit it.  Maybe I’ll drive up there on Saturday and see what they have to put on it.  I want the bag, but need a better way to put it on the bike.  I’m sure they’ll come up with something.  In the mean time, it fits in the seat compartment and I’ll put it there for a while until we come up with a plan.

Well out of time for today.  I hope everyone has a wonderful FRIDAY!!  Thanks for visiting.

Welcome the first of May, and Happy Tenth Anniversary to Jon and Alexandra (Hesitate to use familiar “Ale”.) Maybe it is a character flaw…but when I “visit” a friend’s friend or relative on a social network, I think I “KNOW” them, and that just ain’t so. However, more than half of my Facebook friends are just that–acquaintances, like “pen-pals”. And yet, somehow our lives–after 3-5 years–begin to seem intertwined. It is what I am trying to break away from…and then I read this morning on http://www.refdesk.com the following:

“I think if I’ve learned anything about friendship, it’s to hang in, stay connected, fight for them, and let them fight for you. Don’t walk away, don’t be distracted, don’t be too busy or tired, don’t take them for granted. Friends are part of the glue that holds life and faith together. Powerful stuff.” – Jon Katz

Maybe THAT is why one has so FEW real friends, b/c friendship takes a certain commitment, work, dedication to share thoughts, ideas, experiences, strengths and hopes. It means also taking a risk.

WAIT! AGAIN! WHOSE blog IS this? OK I’ll get back on track
One of God’s many gifts is to participate in groups which are supportive of their planned events, and Founders’ Day (in June is 80th Anniversary) is one of the BIG ones for millions of us around the world.

Riding RED: On nights we know it will be below 60º (on bike that is a wind-chill of 50º or less) you might consider wearing a scarf around your neck and/or even a thin hoodie. I find that if my head and neck are warm, the rest of me is also…USUALLY–grin! Another month and we’ll be complaining about the heat. What is…IS.

Before investing in stuff which fits well on a motorcycle, consider asking for advice. There are SO many gadgets (I call “apps”) available, and I usually don’t need HALF the stuff which looks so good in ads on Internet or elsewhere. Careful also at Motor Sports, they will have you cashing in more stock before the closing bell…to buy “enhancements”. In fact, ride for a while, and THEN decide what is missing, what you really need. Sorry for sounding like a “know-it-all” but that’s how we “know-it-alls” ARE! heeheehee…

SInce I don’t write stuff on my own timeline these days, guess I’m transferring it to your blog (sigh). I DO respond to a few “regulars” on Facebook, but just not tooting my own horn–to see if any “pride” will be lifted where there SHOULD be humility, hmmm. (“And the cow jumped over the moon…” YEAH, RIGHT!!!) www
    BYE.

I like that quote about friendship. I think I’ll put it on my timeline and see if you see it. But you shouldn’t because you are “off FB” for a while. RR gets me thinking, but also is difficult for me. So thanks for helping me with it.

Ya know Mary…I wanted SO much to post that “friendship” on my TL, but do not want to get started…so if you’d post it, I’d sure like that–I just believe it is something the Peeps might read and consider. If you DO post…TIA…
