Good Morning Everyone,
So today is Saturday and now with my new “doo” I have found I don’t need to wash my hair today. It looks about the same as it did here:
I can’t tell you how wonderful that is! But even if I do wash it later today (which I probably will), just knowing it can be “skipped” is very freeing!
So last night after work, I went to the Intergroup Office and Roy showed up so I put him to work. I am comparing the Meeting List that Bill prints out for everyone, and our database at the website. I was pleasantly surprised that there are very few differences, but there are a few. I think our philosophy is to see if anyone notices an error in their meeting time or type of meeting, and for them to contact Bill or me with the changes needed. I’ve found one meeting that meets at the 24 Hour Club that Bill says meets at 2:30 on Sundays and the database says it meets at 8AM. So I reached out to the “contact” on the database form to “confirm” the time but I’ve “yet to hear” back from her. So we’ll just wait. I’ve just discovered another place to look – the 24 Hour Club schedule and YES it is at 2:30 and not 8AM. So now I can cross that off the list as a change. I think I’ll do that right now! It’s exciting when the pieces fall together! DONE!
Last night I needed to leave “my post” at the Intergroup Office at 6PM to go back to work. I ALMOST pulled a no show, claiming I was tired after work etc., but I went back any way. We were showing a movie called “I’ll Be Me” – the Story of Glen Campbell and his journey with Alzheimer’s Disease. It was AMAZING! The movie is very well done and shows him on his “farewell” tour but also shows the progression of the disease and how the family deals with it. The very cool thing was that his “band” was made up of 4 or 5 of his own children. The “star” in my eyes was his daughter Ashley. She has inherited his musical talent, but also the “boys” have a ton of talent also. What a legacy! His wife Kim (his 2nd or 3rd one) was really great also. It was clear she was “in charge” of this whole project. I was so glad that I went. Not only was the movie great, the panel of “experts” after the showing were really great. Dr. Michael Gloth is our Chief Medical Officer at Moorings Park. He was the moderator and he was just wonderful. Enthusiastic and spoke in laymen’s terms. I actually followed all that he was talking about. It gave me a greater appreciation for what we are doing at Orchid Terrace by opening up our “memory care” neighborhood. The movie hasn’t been release to the general public yet. I’m not sure how we got this, but it really was a fantastic experience. But the other people surrounding him; sound guys, musical director, transportation and security etc., were all a tremendous part of the movie. I think my favorite part was when they had the part about his “Lifetime Achievement” award at the Grammy’s. Blake Shelton was in that part and it was really cool. Other country musicians were interviewed (Brad Paisley, Keith Urban, Cheryl Crowe and others). They spoke about how Glen had had an impact on their careers. Come to find out, many of those musician’s had a family member who had Alzheimer’s or dementia also so their testimonies were really powerful. I am happy to be associated with the Alzheimer’s Association. I raised money last year – over $500 and did the “walk”. Of course, their color is deep PURPLE so that is cool too! Love it!
So on to the next thing today. My AC is making a “clunking” sound when it gets to temperature and turns off. I didn’t like the sound of that, so I’m having the “HOME TECH” people come and do their “yearly” maintenance on it today. I have to call them this morning to find out when the guy will be here, so I may be “stuck” at the house today. Can’t wait to ride RED2 but I’ll need to plan to do that when I know their schedule.
Just “begging” to go for a ride!!!!!!!
I’ve opened up the house this morning! What a wonderful day it’s going to be. And tomorrow will be really exciting too, because we’re going to “worship” in our new “worship space”. So exciting – even though it’s a LONG ride, I’m going to pick up Martha and drive her with me to church. We’ll probably do that each Sunday, or not – depending on the weather and wanting to RIDE RED2 to church. But tomorrow Martha and I’ll go together!
Here is Martha with her wonderful Ray who just passed away. He is really going to be missed but I heard Luis is making a bench in his honor!
That is why I love FCC! Such a small, tight group! I hope we expand so we can “spread” the love! It’s important work! It Shall Be Done!
Have a great day today. Thanks for visiting and have a wonderful Mother’s Day tomorrow!

Maybe a good idea to take Martha to church often…Although Florida Sunday mornings ARE a great time to “ride”. But so are Saturdays–grin!
HA! So you experienced a “Fridays-With-Mary” after all, you got Roy to come in…GRAPE!
Gonna see that Glenn Campbell movie for SURE. I’ll take Stacy’s father. He’s my age, and GC was a favorite of all back in the day. And Alzheimer’s is a deeply considered topic with me–and most people, I guess. Everyone is touched somehow by the disease. Only problem IS…that the “panel’ you experienced will not be at the movie at Mercado. (sigh)
LOVE that Buddha quote! I forget i, though–grin! Gonna paste it in a couple places, maybe one of those places will be my bike windshield,
That’s the place I’d see it most often.
Thanks for this opportunity to comment now and then, Mary.
GOOD WEEKEND!!!
