Welcome to DECEMBER! My favorite month! 7 days and I’ll be 74 – WOW!
I thought I’d start a new blog in celebration of a new month! I’m going camping in 15 days! Can’t wait. I’ll be going to Lost Dutchman State Park which is only 22 minutes from my house. I’ll be meeting up with Sue from Green Valley and Genie. Not sure whether Shannon is going to make it or not. But we’ll be there from Monday to Friday. I’m looking forward to it. This was last March when we were in a Group Area. I’ll have electric and water this time. But I’m looking forward to hiking in the area. One other place I want to go is to Usery Regional Park to go hiking. It’s only about 15 minutes from here. I’m getting a little tired of walking in the neighborhood. I want to experience hiking like I was doing in Tucson at Saguaro National Park.

These plaques were placed along the 1 mile loop. If I walk around it twice, I can get my 2 miles in. You can see greater Phoenix from the trail. There is also another trail that goes up a bit of an incline that would have greater panoramic views. That will be for another day. If I just go around twice, that should be enough for a while. It’s amazing to have this desert so close to metropolitan areas! We are so BLESSED!
I think that is the mountain at Lost Dutchman in the center.
It really reminds me of Saguaro National Park in Tucson. I get in here free also because I got the pass for the Phoenix Regional Parks. The campground is awesome here too, and Bill and Cathy liked it when they stayed here on their way to Yellowstone last year.

This shows how wide the trail is. It is set up for baby carriages and wheelchairs. I’m going to try to go again today. 2 days in a row. I’m going to try to make it a habit!
This is Merkle Trail. I walked it twice today, next time I’ll make it the 2 miles. It was beautiful. Here is a video of my hike:
We have an appointment for Zena and Ziggy with the vet. They need shots. Anyway, we put the carriers out so they will be ready in the morning. Zena wanted to check it out:
