Happy 23rd Anniversary Bette! Congratulations!
Just got back from camping in St. Johns, AZ at Lyman Lake State Park. It was a great weekend with RVW. It is a fantastic park with a great, big man made lake as it’s focus. Since there has been such a drought here in Arizona, the lake is really low and the water is really muddy, but it was a wonderful place never the less.

My site had its own ramada. My view was of the lake. Surrounded by Genie, Martha and Marge. It was great meeting new people. Martha is in Surprise. Marge is in Sierra Vista, and Genie is in Santa Fe and Mesa.

Sure glad I had this:

I spent Wednesday night in Safford – about 1 1/2 hours from Benson at Roper Lake State Park. I felt like I was the only one there. It was really hot there during the day, but cooled off well at night. Left first thing on Thursday for the trek to St. Johns where Lyman Lake State Park was located:

The route was a bit scary at some points. Lots of twists and turns and big drop offs. Daisy did well, but I was white knuckling it quite a bit. Then I got into St. John and the Garmin told me I was at the park. NOT TRUE. Luckily, I spoke to a nice young man at a gas station who set me straight and showed on my phone where to go. It was 1/2 hour away! So Garmin is not my friend. Genie told me to get the Trucker GPS from Rand MacNally so I’ve ordered it and I’m going to try it out. Garmin has screwed me up too many times. I’ll try this new one to see if it will work better. If nothing else, my phone is good – only problem with that is if there is no cell service so that can be a problem. I’ll keep you posted!
Found my new coffee cup for Tucson at Lyman Lake State Park:

When I got into Show Low, I needed gas and I wanted to be sure I had enough POLAR for the trip. I stopped at Safeway:

I was poking out of a regular car parking space. First time for that one – never again! There just wasn’t any large areas to park. Then I went around to try to gas up and again, no RV spacing. So I gave up that and went down the road to a better gas station. That was the only disappointing thing about this trip. It cost me about $400 in gas. TOO MUCH! So I guess Daisy will be sitting a lot for a while. She is getting her oil changed and brakes checked in Mescal and we’ll pick her up in a couple of days, then she will just be hanging out in Benson for a while. It’s too hot to camp in Arizona now and it’s too expensive to travel to cooler climates. So glad we are settled in Tucson now.
This weekend was a blast. We had a painting workshop, a workshop in First Aid, and a hike to petroglyphs. Here is a picture of one of the petroglyphs:

This was the little painting I did. It fits perfectly on the cabinet:

This was my spot at Roper Lake. Beautiful pull through and a view of the lake:

I met a nice woman named Martha Metz with her dog Sofie. She was parked next to me in a sweet little TAB. She lives in Surprise, AZ. She retired from the IRS, although she works part time for them on occasion. So there is also a Pueblo at Lyman State Park so we went adventuring in her Jeep. Lyman Lake has a lot to offer!
