RV Life with DAISEE2 #174 Wednesday, August 12, 2026.

I have made it to Canyon Point near Payson today. Here is the sign:

These are the fees: I got it half off because of the America The Beautiful Pass: It took me 3 hours to get here.

I was having trouble with my STARLINK, and I had to reconfigure it even though it worked when I first put it out. It was showing just “STARLINK” and I was able to rename it DAISEE2 with Metaxa123456! as the password. I hope it will work all weekend. I got the WAGGLE camera to work too. There is a woman beside me in a Class B who is all alone and I think she may be interested in joining us. I put the FLAG out and she asked about it. Time will tell! Look how level I am! Very happy!

Shannon came in with her new truck and old trailer. We got her in her site in about 15 minutes. The man across from her did most of the work. But she is set and level too!

It is thundering now so I think it will rain soon. The couple down the way from me says it’s been raining ALOT! My site is pretty wet. I did put out my table cloth and seat covers:

The temps are 77 out, 75 in and it’s 4:15. Can’t wait to see how chilly it gets tonight when it’s bedtime. I have all of the windows open now. The campground is pretty quiet. This is my site with the RVW FLAG out: you can see how wet it is. Hiking may be difficult because of the rain. Kayaking may be in order instead. We’ll see.

WAGGLE connected very easily even though I don’t have Metaxa here any longer, I will still keep this camera so when we go with the baby kitties we’ll have it. I did find out from ChatGPT that the Waggle does color or black and white depending on how much light there is in the rig. It’s mostly dark in here at home so that is why it’s black and white. Here we are IN COLOR!

I’m right across from the water and the vault toilet. I like that. They were pretty clean last time. The flush toilets and showers aren’t all that clean, and you need coins for the water. They gave us 3 when we checked in. Not sure how to get more. I quickly read it and it looks like it’s CASH ONLY $7.00. The coins give you 10 minutes. I should have enough for a shower with 3 if I decide to take one. More will be revealed. It just started raining. SOUNDS SO COOL!!

These mushrooms are right by my site. I thought they were fake – you know clay or something, but they are REAL – so cool!

ChatGPT says they are fly agaric mushrooms. They are toxic but very pretty. They are common during monsoon season on the Mogollon Rim. This is how high we are:

My new fridge minder is working great. SO HAPPY – it wasn’t working when I left but now it seems to be fine. I’m going to go turn off the propane soon – between showers. I have electric and it will keep the fridge cold.

Woke up at 6 this morning – missed the meeting. Slept really well – no cat to wake me up all night long – sad but nice. I did pee a couple of times. These are my temps today:

Coffee is going. It smells GREAT! I need to get my music going. BRB! We’re going kayaking around 10 today. It isn’t raining now but it is REALLY WET all around. I squeegied the front of the rig – you’re welcome Jack – and the table clothes and seat covers. Hopefully they are better now. Waggle is working too!

I wrote my check to Shannon for $400 for next summer at Fool Hollow in July (on our own) and also August with RVW. I’ll be going up there June, July and August next summer. That’s good though because it is near Show Low and will be much cooler than MESA!

This is my spot next August: I think there is a view of the lake from there. We can only hope!

Got the WORDLE today:

Second cup of HAZELNUT coffee. Talked to Jack – all is well. Ziggy got him up EARLY – ha, ha, ha! Windows and door open. It’s so nice! So quiet here – I could hear a little traffic last night when the window was open by the bed, but when I closed it – NOTHING!!!!! We are right in the middle of a Ponderosa Pine Forest. It is LOVELY!!!!!!

I just wrote up an AGENDA for the Rally – I’m the Facilitator.

The restaurant is the 260 ROADHOUSE. We went there in 2024. (Picture above).

Pulled out my Kayak and paraphernalia for kayaking at Willow Springs Lake later this morning. So far it is still sunny. I sent out an email to the “group” here. Hopefully they read their emails. I want their phone numbers so we can text. People are better at getting texts than emails – I’ve found.

The sites here are pretty good. Lots of space between sites. I feel very safe and secure. I LOVE THIS CAMPGROUND!

We went kayaking today – Patty, Shannon and me. I took a bunch of pictures.

Patty and I pumped our kayaks up at the boat ramp. It worked out better than doing at camp and carrying it in the back of the truck.

I think Patty’s needed more air. She used my foot pump. The foot pump does a good job. I was out on the water before them:

The lake was nice and high. Higher than 2024 which is a good sign.

We went for a hike this morning to the Sink Hole. Before that I took my trash out and saw this on my way back. They are everywhere:

After the hike, we went for a drive to the rim. It was beautiful as always. Here I am:

Next we stopped at Wood Canyon Lake Store – I’m looking for a sticker. They didn’t have any but I bought a magnet. We decided to rent a pontoon boat for tomorrow from 8AM to 10AM. I’m rusty, but I’m the only one who’s driven a boat so I’m The Captain!

It is bigger than Willow Springs Lake because they have a store and a marina where they rent pontoon boats. The weather is supposed to be good tomorrow, so that will be fun. This is turning into a wonderful rally.

Good Morning everyone. Today is Saturday, August 15, 2026. It is a beautiful morning. These are the temps: Coldest so far:

Last night we sat around the RADIATE fire. It was surprisingly fun. I wish I took a picture of it, but maybe tonight. It works pretty well. We were impressed. Not sure how many “fires” it has in it, but I’m sure it will work tonight. It’s a busy day. Boating at 8 and pot luck tonight. I want to take a shower this afternoon. We’ll see if that happens. Shannon is going to leave after the boating. That is too bad. Maybe we can convince her to stay. Time will tell. Coffee tastes great this morning. I didn’t sleep all that well last night but I feel pretty good this morning. I’m sure a nap will be in order this afternoon!

Last night we went to the 260 Roadhouse for dinner. It was their fish fry. I ordered it and it was delicious, but the tater tots were so cool – they were flat. Very tasty! Here we are – Shannon, Nancy, Me, Patty, Deb & Patricia (she joined yesterday!)

It has been a great rally. I think everyone is having fun. The boat ride should be a highlight. I’m the CAPTAIN! Funny!!!

We rented a Pontoon Boat at Woods Canyon Lake. I was the only one with boating experience so I got to be CAPTAIN!

This was just as we left the marina. The lake was smaller than I thought. It was beautiful though. Lots of Ospreys catching fish. Plus a lot of fisher persons in boats and on shore. It was just fantastic. 2 hours was plenty. $200. Willow Springs Lake is 150 Acres and Woods Canyon Lake is only 55 Acres.

The pontoon boat was a perfect size for all of us. Here we all are at the dock:

Walked around the B Loop today to close my rings – it was over a mile. Saw this beautiful strand of Aspen Trees:

Our Pot Luck was at Patty & Deb’s place. Patty loves to cook and made some quinoa and chicken sausages. They were both really good. We had potato salad (with egg – ick) and macaroni salad. Plenty to eat and no one ate much of the Ziti so I’m bringing it home with me. Jack and I will enjoy it. This is the brand of Ziti it was and it is wonderful!

I lit the fire again when I got back – we ate early so it was at 6PM. I think it would have lasted maybe another hour or so. I think it would burn for 3 hours or so start to finish. The can gets messy after it burns and cools off, so I need to figure out a way to collect it and repack it some way. I ordered a new one and I’m tossing this one. It may have a little life left in it, but not enough to worry about and try to pack away.
