Good Morning Everyone,
So today would have been my parents Anniversary. Married on this date in 1940. Here is a picture of them in front of the “Little Church Around the Corner” in Manhattan. Also, this picture shows them “playing” at Candlewood Lake – can you see the cigarette in my dad’s hand? The date on that picture is July 13, 1941. Other picture was of the 3 siblings in front of our home at 26 Old Parish Lane, Darien, CT (is sold for $1.6M recently):
The stone wall was “new” in the front yard. The big tree to the right of the door was a little Crabapple tree we planted. It had a matching one to the left, but that is removed in this picture. That little tree got knocked over when the boys were playing football in the front yard and Dick Ott ran into it and broke it. I remember Pop wrapping it up and I think it lived for all of the time we lived there. We moved into that house in 1955 and my parents sold it for $80K in 1970. At least that is what I have in my head about that. If Bill and Cathy read this, they can set me straight! Also – Happy Anniversary to Bill and Cathy on the 18th! I missed it on the “day of” so here is a belated Happy Anniversary to you!
So yesterday was a GRAPE DAY! We had the Open House at the Intergroup Office. It was so much fun and a lot of people showed up for it. I was happy to see that Rick and Chuck made it from the Naples Group. Gary G and Holly came to represent the Steering Committee of Intergroup. Steve came with Anna at NOON! That was what I had put on the calendar of events – but I think the time changed to 1 to 3 later in the game and I forgot to change it. Sorry about that Steve! Anyway, I would guess about 30 – 40 people showed up. Even Sheila came in support of it. That was so cool!
But of course the best part was the GRAPEMAN sighting!
Wow – I’m out of time. Too much “searching” this morning. Gotta go! Have a beautiful day – supposed to rain today – my new “garden” needs the water. Thanks for visiting!

Funny! Those thousands of memories which we conjure now and then, how they creep into and out of our minds. I thank God for them. When chaos reigns (it doesn’t anymore!) it is a level place where to steal away and into that “different” world of yesterday.
Though we seldom share those, I believe people love the private histories of people. These tell sometimes more truth than the histories of nations–which are frequently clouded in mystery and myth.
Hope a lot of people got to see Grape-man, and although you didn’t mention the “Guess-the-Grapes” jar–it is these quirky tricks which keep our “Grapevine” –Meetings-In-Print-magazine in the minds of the multitudes (WOW! Whence came THAT word?)
Hey, enjoy your week. The Open House was a lot of work, I’m glad for Bill S. and you and the volunteer corps that it was a success. I’m calling all the volunteers “Bill’s Angels”….

Bill remembers the tree be broken too! Thanks for the happy anniversary wishes…#23… can you believe it??? Bill selected the 18th because is was the closest Saturday to April 20 in 1992. He said April 20 was a good day for your parents. So, I always think of them on the 20th.
