#205 Good Morning Saturday, April 25, 2015

Hello Everyone,

It’s Saturday and it’s gonna be a big weekend with a day off on Monday for me.  It’s my “last” Monday off since it will be really busy at work with the opening of our new Memory Care Neighborhood.  It is getting close – Grand Opening is scheduled for May 18th and move ins will start on the 20th.  My boss Lily is taking a couple of days off starting yesterday and will return on Wednesday next week.  Her grandson is turning 5 and they are celebrating his birthday at his home in Louisiana.  So she left Thursday afternoon to make the drive.

Ok now I’m obsessing about this:

New Scooter

New Scooter

I’ve come to the conclusion that I’m not riding Red as much as I should any longer and I think I’d get more use out of a scooter instead.  Remember “Otto”?

I loved that little scooter.  Only problem was that it was only a 50CC and didn’t have power enough to go “on the roads”.  I used to ride Otto to work but would leave my place on 9th Avenue South, drive over to Gulf Shore Blvd and ride up GSBN to Crayton Road and over to Neapolitan Way and across 41 to Granada and into the entrance of Moorings Park.  It was a long way around, but was the safest way to go – no traffic at that time (7AM) in the morning.  So now the Honda 300 is what I’m looking at.  I put RED on Craig’s List yesterday.  No takers yet.  Looking to sell her for $3200 but will accept $2500 – I paid $2800 for her.  Then I’d use that money to pay down on the 300 and finance the rest if the payment is reasonable.  I might just pay cash for her.   Anyway, I’m all excited about this and I can’t wait for the guy (Ernest) to get back with me.  They had a power outage on Friday and things were “down” so I never heard from him.  But between today, Saturday and having Monday off, I’m convinced that Red, too (Red 2) will be in the garage.  Stay tuned!

Today is the “Rock and Roll Recovery Bash” at Sugden Park.  I plan to go there around 1:30 or so.  I need to help with the Feeding Program at Church today.  We distribute food to families in Naples Park between 9:30 AM and 11AM.  Then the “left overs” go to St. Matt’s.  My job is to take the food to “St. Matt’s” but I want to see how the distribution gets done and George and Jean will be going up north soon and I want to see them before they go.  I think they will be at church on Sunday, but may be leaving next week.  They may be staying to help us move on the 3rd, but I’m not sure about that.  So anyway, I’ll be doing that, going to RRRB and then doing my duty at the Naples Group.  Need to buy cookies for that meeting tonight.  I also need to send out some email reminders to people.  So I’m busy and my laundry is going now, so I need to put one load in the dryer and the other in the washer.  Then of course if I “get the call” about my scooter, I’ll be doing that too.

Oh by the way, today Jackie celebrates 31 years in the program.  I love Jackie – she is always so helpful to me, loves my cats and will always be there for me!  Here she is with ROSE and her Harley!

So now I’ll get going.  Things are just fantastic these days!  Love my life and thank you for visiting!

OMG I knew that was coming soon, the “big move-in” to Memory Care Neighborhood. Of course…you don’t have to do it alone. Right?!!! It will be a higher level of living for a lot of people–residents AND their families and friends. I just pray that people do not forget
Gen. Douglas MacArthur’s last words to congress:after he was fired by Truman:
    “Old soldiers never die
    They just fade away”…

Bike, Bike, Bike…Decisions, well, you will buy. I just wish I were your salesperson. He could see you frothing at the mouth, eyes twice their size, and could feel faster vibrations of your beating heart he prob already spent his commission, as soon as you said, “please call me”
    (many smiles here!!!!)

That 300 “RED 2” is a bike you can handle really well, you two will grow together into instant love affair, I predict. HONDA makes good stuff!

Jackie’s birthday, and I have no phone # or email or Facebook addresses to tell her I love her recovery and I love her. Through some years now, I’ve admired her (from afar). NOW she will know that. Hmmmm!

As for your B U S Y day..simple…all you need are two more arms, another pair of feet, and 12 more hours in the day! (And that would not be enough for MARY!

That is so true about RED2. I already love her A LOT! She and I will be inseparable (unless it’s raining) most weekends and after work. I am happy I spent the extra money on the maintenance package. It’s important for someone with no mechanical skills or interest! I’m going to keep her for YEARS – at least 5 until she is paid off and maintained correctly. I even get “free tires” if something goes wrong with them. Since my other bike had “dry rot” I’m not going to let that happen to her! Orlando was the “paper pusher” at Honda. I remember him from service before and he seems quite at ease in this new position. Life is GOOD!
