#220 Good Morning Wednesday, June 17, 2015

Good Morning World,

Well I learned today that this is the 130 Anniversary of the France delivering the Statue of Liberty to the USA.  Learned this on GOOGLE.  I love those little tidbits of info on Google.  They don’t happen everyday, but when they do, they are really creative.  Here is the one from today:

Last night I was watching PBS and there was a woman on there talking about exercising and aging.  It was really interesting.  I’ve lately been pretty lazy about my exercising.  I keep thinking that I’ll do it tomorrow or the next day, I’ll go for a walk tomorrow or the next day, but I never seem to get into the routine.  I liked her presentation and learned that fast and furious exercise is not always the way to go.  She has worked out a routine that just keeps all of your muscles moving and stretching that doesn’t make you crazy – at least me that is.  I found her routines on YouTube under “Classical Stretch”.  She has a bunch of 4 to 5 minute YouTube videos to access so I started one this morning on stretching my waist and now I have something to begin the day with.  If I follow the videos, it makes me do the exercise for long enough.  Otherwise I’d probably do it for 2 minutes and think I was done.  The videos make you exercise longer.  Domino is so weird about that.  Sound from the computer bugs him and he keeps bumping me and talking while they are on.  The TV doesn’t effect him that way – it’s weird.

So my newest thing is finding “Soul Mates” with my new KIA.   Yesterday there was a KIA matching mine close to where I park at work.  I think my KIA is a “little bigger” – not sure about that, but here is the picture of “Soul Mates” at work:

This is the “back” parking lot at Orchid Terrace.  I always try to park my car in 1 of 2 places.  At the end of the day there is shade in two places.  This allows my car to “cool down” after being in the sun all day.  The AC in the KIA is awesome.  In little ROSE there were times when the car was so hot that I’d drive all the way home and still feel the heat of the day in the car, but in this wonderful KIA it’s cool within minutes.  So GREAT!

Yesterday I was followed home by a KIA SOUL.  Here is that picture:

My girlfriend Jennifer told me on FB to stop taking pictures while driving.  She is right, but I couldn’t resist.  So now my thing is to keep a running total of the number of KIA Soul’s I see on the road.  I just got my “free” coupon book in the mail yesterday.  It gives me coupons to get oil changes etc.  My first Oil Change is at 5,774 miles.  So I have a little time to go.  I did finally hear from the guy who installed my On Star.  He left me a message and when I called him back, I had to leave him a message.  So at least I’m getting “somewhere”.  Now I’m going to look for my payment coupon book.  It should arrive today or tomorrow.  I’m anxious to get that first payment in before I go to Atlanta.

Speaking of Atlanta.  Our BOZO on the BUS Tour is fizzling out.  I really thought it was a great idea and the bus would fill up without a problem, but that ain’t so.  It has been a struggle and I got a call from Peggy that she’s decided to rent 2 vans instead of a bus as there just weren’t enough people to pay for the bus.  I’m disappointed in that and had thoughts of cancelling all together last night, but in the light of day, I decided to spin this positively and just let God handle it.  The part I’m not too keen on is that she wants “us” to drive.  I said I wasn’t interested in driving.  Going in a van worries me a little and without a professional driver, who knows how it will go.  But I can’t get an affordable flight to Atlanta now – I looked it up and it was over $300 to fly there.  I’m already concerned about my $600 hotel bill.  But again, it’s only money and I’ve planned this trip for 5 years so I’m going!  I’ll worry about that later!

Gotta go.  Just realized my Hotel in Atlanta has my yahoo account that I’m not using any longer and I need to give them my new email address.  Have a great day – thanks for visiting.

June 1885 – The statue arrives in New York Harbor aboard the French ship “Isere.”

Yes. I well remember that several tugs had to be sent out to keep the French vessel afloat. Under great weight of the statue, and loaded with water from the trip, it was a scene to behold. I was one of the hundreds of men to help unload the 125-ton of steel and 62,000-pounds of copper (31-ton)…HAPPY DAY for all of us to be still free, to say and pray, and DO what we wish, after 130 YEARS! Hmmm….

Mary, I’m like Domino–in a way. I growl and snort and REFUSE TO WATCH TV when the topic is exercise. Otherwise…

I’m going to the Atlanta Convention for two reasons.
    1. The meeting in San Antonio Texas five years ago, was a highlight of my retired life.
    2. This is likely to be my last “International” b/c of the amount of walking involved. (I’ll be 87 in 5 years, gettin’ up there, ya might say..

One drawback riding a scooter–SO difficult to snap photos, but the opportunities are HUGE! As you know EVERYTHING is so visible, of course, cannot capture the smells on Samsung Smart-ass Phone.

    What a Wonderful World!

Wow – I can’t imagine being part of that historical moment in America. That is really amazing – I never knew that about you! I don’t think I knew you back in 2005 in San Antonio. I loved that convention. I’m sure Atlanta will be just as awesome. Not looking forward to riding the “Druggie Buggie” as Ralph refers to the van, but I may hitch a ride back home with them. We’ll see. I’m bringing my GPS.
