#234 Good Morning Sunday, July 19, 2015

Hello World,

So yesterday I wrote in Wylie and I must have “not published” it because it isn’t on the site this morning.  I’ve done that before and I’m not sure what I did yesterday except that I “went to the site” to look at the post and I guess I missed the step of posting.  So now I’ll try to remember what I did and add more to it today.  Sometimes I can tell by the pictures what I was thinking, so I’ll go there first.  Oh yea, I said I was going to make muffins:

Holy Cow what a mess!

Holy Cow what a mess!

Well, that didn’t happen.  Perhaps it will happen today.  My first thing was that I needed to go to the store to buy some coconut milk and eggs.  Then I realized that I needed cookies for the meeting on Saturday night so I bought them at the same time along with lemonade – was almost out of my lemonade!  So I get on my scooter and realize that I have no gas.  So I had to drive up to the gas station on Davis and Santa Barbara hoping that I wouldn’t run out of gas (I actually was saying over and over “Please don’t let me run out of gas”) before I got there because I hadn’t kept track of my mileage.  Since I bought this scooter “new” I’ve put all of the miles on it.  There are 552 miles on it.  So I got to the gas station without a problem.  The last time I filled up was on 6/15.  I put $6.35 into it and I’d driven 391 miles.  It was the 2nd time that I put gas in her.  So yesterday – a little over a month later I put $6.76 worth of gas and I traveled 161 more miles.  So now I’ve figured that I need to fill up after we go 150 miles or so and that will be at 700 miles next time.  So I have a note on my phone about this so I won’t need to worry about running out of gas again.  At least in theory.  I don’t even know if my scooter has a “reserve” tank like the motorcycles do.  I guess I could research that.  I tried to call Florida Motor Sports yesterday to figure out when I need to bring it in for it’s first check-up, but no one answered the “Service Line”, so I’ll call them next week – if I remember …….will need to put that on the calendar.  So here is a picture of RED2:

Red2 and Me in Naples

Red2 and Me in Naples

I’m using this picture as my FB picture.  Jackie took this of me and Red when we went to Spin for some Yogurt.  She was on her Harley of course.  I am still so happy that I bought Red.  It is so much fun to ride and for me, so much easier than the motorcycle.  Already I think I’m riding it more than I ever rode the motorcycle.  I’ve been caught in the rain more than once so that proves something.  I’m not like Steve.  I don’t like getting caught in the rain or riding when there is a threat of rain.  But he’s been riding much longer and for longer trips so it doesn’t bother him as much.  Plus because of his experience, he knows weather better than I do and and see that the storms are moving away.  Which I do know from living here in Florida for over 40 years that rain never lasts very long and usually blows on after a bit so you just need to “sit it out”.  Oh yea, this was one of the items I put on the blog yesterday…..

Guardian Bells

Guardian Bells

“Legend has it that evil road gremlins bring bad luck to your ride by creating mechanical problems and scattering road debris into your path.  Ride Bells are said to keep these spirits at bay and provide protection throughout your journey.  The good luck offered by the bells is then doubled when they are given by a friend”.  This bell was given to me by my friend Polly!  She gave me the bell for my other motorcycle also.  I’d never heard of this but I love it that she gave me the bell.  Polly ROCKS!  I LOVE HER!

Polly's Party

Polly’s Party

John had a “surprise” birthday party for Polly for her birthday (She painted her jeans)!  It was down on Isle of Capri.  It was a nice ride on the motorcycle.  I’ll need to remember that to go down there on RED2 one of these days.  The place was really nifty right on the water and is owned by Jerry A from “Handsome Harry’s” fame.  I don’t think that is open any longer on Third Street.  I’m sure it is some other restaurant now.  Funny business, that restaurant business!

So yesterday I couldn’t take the “leftover” food to St. Matt’s because I was getting my hair cut and colored.  As I’m sitting in “the chair” I get a text from Jon:

Text From Jon - Ale's Birthday

So this is what he does.  His MO is to do this “spur” of the moment thing.  So of course I say “yes” to the invitation and I know that I have to set up the meeting at 6:45PM but I figured I could do that and still go to dinner with them.  So I get ready to go to the meeting – early because I wanted to get a little “gift” for Ale.  So I went to Wynn’s market and pick up a little begonia and a card.  All set……drive toward the church and realize I didn’t have the key to get in……ugh!  So I have to drive all the way back home to pick up the key.  Anyway, I was back by 5:45 which was enough time to make the coffee and set up the chairs and tables with the help of Steve, Tom and Polly.  Next thing I need to figure out is that I won’t be there next Saturday in time to “set up the coffee” because I’ll be in Sanibel.  I’ll probably drive back and get there for the meeting but not to do the coffee.  Polly helped me get that organized. I left at 6:30 and got a text from her that Brian would handle everything.  He is chairing this month.  Life is good!

Naples Group is Covered!

Naples Group is Covered!

So I have “evidence” that it will be done.

So next I drive over to The Beach Club (The Naples Beach Hotel) and there are people everywhere!  Apparently there is a “Summer Jazz Concert” there!  They were charging $15 for “event parking”.  So I wasn’t going to do THAT (here I am getting a “free” dinner and I don’t even want to pay $15 for parking – it’s the principle of the thing!).  Anyway, I go back to park by the beach and realize I have no beach sticker on TY.  Note to self – get one of those!  Anyway, I parked along 7th Avenue North and walked down to the Beach Club.  It worked out fine, plus I ate so much it was nice to walk a little after dinner!  Here is Ale on her birthday!

She looked beautiful.  Of course the “kids” came too.  Mario, Ale, Jr. and Ale’s boyfriend Miguel.  So it was a nice dinner and fun to be with them.

Well, that’s about all the time I have this morning.  I made this longer than yesterday’s blog and I think I covered everything I did yesterday.  Got to get rolling.  Time to get ready for church.  Trying to determine if I’ll ride Red2 or Ty to church.  We’ll see.  Thanks for visiting!  I’ll leave you with this:

For scooters (new) about ±600 miles (1,000 km) for first “service. Thereafter usually every six months. Since your scooter experiences low usage, I’d ask them about future regular maint. You might find a book in trunk which lists the mileage/frequency for mantenance visits

(TIP) Each time I go to FL Motor Sports, I take some cookies or Rugula, hand it to the guy. (Your muffins would be PERFECT!!!) for the guys–being SURE to tell whoever is in office that it’s for everyone (Mechanics and Maintenance staff.)

Spend $8-12 at COSTCO $8-12. You’ll be surprised at how welcome you will feel–They’ll remember you for sure, Mary. As far as I know, nobody else does that.

Polly–that POLLY–bought me my first “gremlin-bell” about 6-7 years ago, and I’ve had it attached ever since. My several two-thousand-mile trips have never caused me a bit of trouble (Have miraculously gotten through some squeaky situations, though)

And, oh my, Mary! That picture of Metaxa has me hoping that if there is such a business a “re-incarnation” I BEG to be a cat in my next life.
    I mean that!

Great suggestion about Florida Motor Sports. I’ll keep it in mind.

I can’t remember what my “maintenance” package is that I’m paying for. I’ll have to look it up. But I’m okay for a couple of weeks at least.

Yes, there’s plenty of leeway in the mileage and timing of maint. I expect it won’t cost you a thing. First might take better part of a day. If Jackie is tied up and you need a ride, i have a truck…feel free.
