Hello World,
Yesterday I had a wonderful day. First I made arrangements for my scooter to be taken to the shop for her first oil change. Steve was willing to do that for me which I am very grateful for. I was at work and he picked up Red and drove her over to the Florida Motor Sports on Pine Ridge Road and waited while they did the first tune up on her. It was over $200 in repairs, but it was covered by my maintenance contract. So now I don’t feel so bad about spending $200 on Wylie at the vet to find out she was perfectly healthy! And so it goes.
When I got home I discovered that my mailbox had been damaged and I was missing my garbage can. As I was going into the house, Christian (my neighbor) was going to work and he said that Waste Management had hit the mail box. So I tried calling them about it but they were closed for the day. So I was lying on the couch and my neighbor Chris came to my door. He is one of our “Board” members and is really nice – walks his dog around the circle a lot, so I’ve gotten to know him as a good neighbor. Anyway, he confirmed that Waste Management had hit my mailbox and he reported it to our property managers. They were going to contact WM and tell them about the incident. He took a picture of the damage for me and I’m supposed to call the property managers on Monday to see what my next step is. The mailbox is serviceable, but should be replaced. I’m not unwilling to go buy another one, but let’s see what happens with that. So grateful for my neighbors! What a wonderful, caring place I’ve chosen to live in. Makes me very happy!
Then later last night I went to The Cookie Meeting. I love being “part of” that group. It is always nice to have people acknowledge you and genuinely have a sense of belonging. Last night Steve had Anna and Ralph speak. They were both wonderful. Next week Polly and I speak. Steve had me read “How it Works” last night to “get my feet wet” for next week. I always love reading “How it Works”. I have it practically memorized after all these years of hearing it over and over again. I actually remember reading it for the first time in the Brown Bag years ago. I messed up and didn’t get to the part about “God could and would if He were sought”. But I was prompted to continue to the end. I wonder where Polly and Roy were last night? Polly was probably busy with “school” stuff since school starts soon, but Roy should have been there. I think I’ll text him. That’s the other thing about having a “home group”. People worry about you when you don’t “Suit up and Show Up”. I’ve been obsessing about my “talk/lead/ESH”. Being an alcoholic I want it to be witty and memorable and of course “perfect”. So I’ve written the whole thing out and I’ve been “practicing” it. Really – who does that? An alcoholic that’s who! I know that isn’t how I’ll present it because I want it to be “spontaneous” but I learned from Anna last night to change my “attitude” toward speaking – just say you are “happy” to do it and things will work out well. So that is my attitude now. I “love” doing it and I won’t “dread” it any longer!
Here is my text from Roy:
I just LOVE technology! It’s so much fun!
Lily has been out of the office all week at a conference in Orlando. Funny – this is the State Convention this week in Orlando too. Wonder if she crossed paths with a bunch of drunks! Anyway, I’ve been “catching” up and I’m finished with the schedule. That has made me happy. Plus today is PAYDAY. Life is good!
Look at what the Daily Message says today:
Stop expecting too much from yourself.

Good advice – I think I’ll “drop the rocks”!
I’m out of time again. Have a beautiful day and thanks for visiting!

Waste Management is usually pretty good about mailbox replacement. Aside from that…is it not a good feeling to have a new car which runs well, a bike which is home after its first “physical”.and computers and phone working properly…and the ROOF DON’T LEAK, and the cats are fed. www
HEY! Thanks for posting my photo. It was taken at a “Corrections Picnic” couple years ago.Like most people, there are very few pictures of me which I like–but that is one of them.
You read “How it Works” JUST the way I like, and think it should be. SLOWLY. Who understands anything when it is garbled sounds at warp speeds?. That was read at my first meeting many years ago, and is STILL my favorite “meeting-opener”. Thank you.
Since you are one of two speakers next week, I’m betting that you will have fun and experience the happiness which comes from helping others while sharing your own story.
I’ve saved $46 in my Detroit 2020-jar… $1 each day–goal: $1,800…
Thanks for another “Day-in-the-Life-Of…”, Mary!
PEACE!
