#250 Good Morning Saturday, September 19, 2015

Good Morning World,

I’ve entered 250 Posts to Wylie since the inception of this website.  It’s been a great way for me to talk about my life and get things written down that have weighed me down or just things that are “on my mind”.  I’ve never been one to “hand write” in a journal.  I have a few and every once in a while I’ll sit down and write some things “long hand”.  I remember specifically the time when I wrote a “travel journal”.  I had just “separated” from Beirne and my brother Bill was going to travel to France with another couple (Jack and Vivian Sparks) so I tagged along.  It was an interesting trip.  Jack was a smoker and must have had emphysema because he was constantly coughing into a kleenex and would toss them up on the dashboard.  I remember watching them accumulate and by the time we finished the trip there must have been hundreds of little wads of kleenex there.  Still grosses me out to this day – 25 years later!  I just went to look for that journal – can’t find it.  I hope I still have it somewhere.

Today is the Fundraiser at The Current for Breast Cancer.  Sharon Ardrey has orchestrated it.  I’m planning to go this afternoon to participate and help get the place “back in order” for our Sunday service tomorrow.  She has worked really hard to get the event organized and based on what I’ve seen on FB, she has a lot of donated vendors and services.  It will also be interesting to see how the space works for this type of thing.  Anyway, time will tell.

The other day I was thinking about coffee cups.  One of my favorite coffee cups is this one:

I know I spoke about it in my last post but I really do think this is my favorite cup of all time.  But now I have a “new” cup that I like a lot too:

I’m having trouble getting the pictures.  I’ll come back to that.  This cup is available for purchase and The Current gets a “donation” of some sort.  I guess I’ll find out more about that today when we have our event.  Looking forward to this!

Also before the event at The Current, I’m planning to go to a memorial service for Terry O’Connell.

Heather and Terry

Heather and Terry

I’ve known Heather for quite a long time and at first I didn’t know Terry was her father.  That is what this program is all about – anonymity.  But after a while I realized he was her father.  He was a wonderful man and had a wonderful personality.  Found out he was Bill S’s sponsor – another anonymous thing!  Anyway, his service is at 11 and then I’ll leave from there to go to The Current since I’ll be “half way” there from home.  So it’s going to be an interesting “long” day today.

I think I pulled a muscle in my upper thigh.  Yesterday it started to hurt a little and today each time I get up from this chair, it aches.  So I’ll be limping a little today.

I’ve started searching for a “scheduling program” for work.  I found 2 on line I’ve started to “test”.  I don’t have any authority to “spend money” for the company, but if I can find a program to help us with this over whelming task, I’m sure I can get Lily to go with it.  At least, perhaps it will make our company try something.  All I know is that the way we are doing it now is AWFUL!  I was struggling with it on FRIDAY at 4PM and the plan is to have it posted by Wednesday of the week before it starts.  I can not get that done!  Lily gave me a little “slap” about it the other day and told me it was my job and to just do it.  Ugh!  It has made me get to the point where I’m seriously considering “retiring”.  I don’t think I’m ready yet, so I’m going to give this a try first.  If I can find something that works, I think I can leave with no regrets.  So I think this is what I’m going to do.  Time will tell.

I’ve got to get going.  Laundry to do and other things happening today.  I’ll leave you with this today:  Can’t find the picture on FB now – that’s one thing I don’t like about FB………  so here is another one:

Quoting your first line: “I’ve entered 250 Posts to Wylie since the inception of this website.”…it occurs to me, I’ve probably responded to nearly all of those–Old Faithful–HA! Well, as you know, I like to write, and it is easier to bounce off of someone else’s (your) thoughts, words.
    Thanks for your indulgence!

That fundraising effort (for breast cancer research) at the CURRENT is past now, and was a success. I am hoping you’ll report in more detail, how many people, etc., any men, etc, and how the affair melded itself with the CURRENT setup as it is.

Re: old journals, I remember my mother instructing us children , “In case of house fire, grab the journal books and photo albums and run.” That was all, no more suggestions, like, “save yourselves”… Hmmmm! Im realizing as I look back on my own 41-year-old journal, those writing are most nearly the TRUTH. Jounals are better history records than newspapers and magazines, because we are not writing for profit–or to impress anyone.

Also I attended the Terry O Memorial, it was beautiful, the music, the eulogies. I decided that a half hour is too long for one person to speak–no matter HOW good he communicates. A lesson for future–HA!

Several “Scheduling applications I have found, because it is what I like to do–shop for new apps and programs. So if you don’t find a suitable program, I’ll send you couple links. One of these cost $450 outright, top rated by CNET. To find JUST what you want and need is a time-consuming task.

Hope your leg gets better, and soon. As I get older, muscles strains and bruises last lot longer than when I was your age. But my pain tolerance is high. A good dentist can give me a root canal withput anesthetic (as long as he first hits me in head with a hammer–HARD!)

There were lot’s of men at the event. Mostly husbands I believe – a couple of gay couples. I left for a while and returned later. All was done when I did that, but at least I made the effort. I won a basket of goodies too. Chocolate that was “really bad”. It was probably sugarless and “healthy”. Oh well. Send me the links to that schedule program. I’ll try cnet next on my own. Thanks for always supporting me in my endeavors. I appreciate it.

Mary, you wrote, “Thanks for always supporting me in my endeavors.”
Well, I say it is much easier to support another’s endeavors–being the Endeavoree–than it is to be the ENDEAVORER! But thanks!
