Hello Cathy & Bill and the rest of the world and beyond,
So good Saturday morning everyone! I’m excited this morning because I have no real plans this weekend (except to deliver food to St. Matts & the BB Meeting tonight and then church tomorrow – but only counting), so that leaves me with a lot of time to do as I please which is wonderful. I’ll get to ride my scooter too. It’s been my habit to ride to Publix on my scooter and buy the “cheap” cookies for the meeting tonight. I have a few “left overs” from Thursday. We are having a PotLuck tomorrow at church. I’m considering bringing something in my “crockpot”. Not sure how I’ll do that yet – probably my chili recipe but maybe not. We’ll see – I used to just bring a veggie and cheese tray from Publix, but we have more room now and things are different. I missed the potluck last month so I’m not sure what to expect, but people said it was great.
The weather in Naples has cooled down a little. Still a little humid, but I’m leaving the front door open in the morning longer so that Metaxa can be out in the fresh air. She loves that! Once the sun comes up a little later, I’ll let her go out on the lanai and enjoy the day. She can stay out there all day now since it doesn’t get as oppressively hot out there. I LOVE OCTOBER in Florida. I heard on the news last night that it may even snow in New England this weekend. That’s bringing winter a little too early for me, but I don’t need to worry about that, I’ll just hear from Jenn about that since she is in MA.
So I have a new “addiction”. It’s an app called “Color Therapy”. I really love it now. I’ve done 2 pictures:
I’m even able to print them out. The cool thing about it is that you can switch it up if you don’t like what you’ve done. All you need to do is touch a color and then touch the picture. It stays on my phone as a “picture”. So I can send them to my email and put them in Wylie. It’s a free app to start, but I’m sure as I keep using it, I’ll want more colors to choose and that will take an “upgrade”. If you notice, I left a lot of “white” spots in the first one and colored the whole thing in the second one. The cool thing about this app, is that it allows me to change the colors at just a touch and then the color fills the space perfectly – no drawing “outside the lines”!
I’ve been mentioning Color Therapy on FB and people have been commenting so I hope others find it as interesting as I do. Last night Jenn texted me about it. So I hope she finds it and does it. Much cheaper than going to her psychiatrist! It’s also more interesting to me than those other addictive games like “candy crush”. At least you get a little artwork out of it. I’m printing these things and can put them on the fridge!
Last week I had a little episode of “light headedness” when I woke up and thought it was the flu. So I went to the urgent care and the doc there said if I really wanted to know what happened, I should go to the emergency room. But I wasn’t going to do that so I started looking for an internist. I swear I’ve mentioned this before in Wylie, but I looked back a little and couldn’t find it, so I guess I didn’t. But anyway, we have new health insurance with MP through United Healthcare. No longer BCBS of FLA. So I went on their website to find a doctor and found a woman I thought I could get to see but when I called the office she wasn’t taking any more patients. So they recommended another guy who has an office just around the corner from my house so I thought that was convenient. So I got a “new patient” appointment on my BIRTHDAY! I started thinking about that and asked around at work about doctors. Millie suggested Dr. Rajani. He is from India and she really loves him. And she has all sorts of medical issues. So I got an appointment with him right away. I went on Monday. I mostly spoke with the nurses and his ARNP (a guy) and they started my chart all on EMR (electronic medical records). We’re doing that at MP also. It’s pretty cool. He asked me a bunch of questions and set me up for a chest xray and blood work. I already had a script from Dr. McLean for a mammogram so I thought I’d try to get them both done at the same time. The cool thing is that the blood lab (the technician that took my blood was awesome – no pain and she took a lot of blood) and the mammogram places are just across the street from Dr. Rajani and I was able to get my blood drawn and my xray and mammogram done yesterday morning at 7AM. I was at work by 9:30! It was amazing. Dr. Rajani’s office called me yesterday to say the xray was negative (that’s good) so that’s how fast things get done now in the medical field with EMR! So altogether, my out of pocket has been $50, $35 and $29.15 for the blood work, doctor’s appointment and xrays. Now, when the lab reports come back, I’m not sure there will be other charges so we’ll see about that and I have 2 more follow up appointments with Dr. Rajani so that will be $35 each time, but over all for what I’m getting done, I feel like this insurance is working pretty well. So it costs me $44 a month for this insurance. I was talking with Karen Tucker my hairdresser and she was saying her insurance is $750 a month. She is under 60 and is “self employed”. I can’t imagine that! I could never afford that on my salary. I don’t know how she does it. I’ll be starting Medicare in December – I have my Medicare Part A card already and will get Part B shortly (not quite sure how that works but we’re having a meeting about it at the end of this month at work). It just makes me think how important it is to have a job that allows for “group rates”.
Well I’m over my limit today (I’ve said I’d stop after I reach 1000 words) so I better get going. I’m REALLY going to clean my house today – at least vacuum and “steam clean” the tile with my new steam cleaner. At least that is what I say now……we’ll see if that really happens!
I’ll leave you with this picture today…..(Steve always liked the pictures on this blog)! Thanks for visiting!
