#260 Good Morning Monday, October 19, 2015

Hello world and Cathy & Bill,

So today I’m concentrating on a new addiction.  It’s called “Color Therapy”.  It is a new app I have that I’ve discovered that I really enjoy!  I’ve always had a “thing” for art.  Took a lot of courses in college for it.  Especially liked my “sculpture” class – Bill – remember that terrible no face body sculpture I did?  Ha! Ha!  You’ve probably burned it up in one of your campfires!  But this app is really cool.  It starts you off with black and white pictures and then it’s kind of like “paint by number”.  You choose colors and just touch an area and the color fills in the space.  I love it because I can change my mind if I don’t like the way it looks.  If I were really doing the coloring with colored pencils and I didn’t like the way the color looked, I’d be “stuck” with it.  This way I can change it.  I’ve saved all of my pictures so far.  I actually have 2 apps now.  The other one is called “Recolor”.  I’m not as impressed by that one yet.  I’ve only tried one picture.  This is the picture from “Recolor”.

I like the way it puts the frame around it.  Doing this bird took me a lot of time.  It was the first picture I chose to do and I wasn’t sure how I wanted to do it.  I changed the colors on the head a number of times, and I’m still not totally happy with it.  I like the way the tail came out.  It’s fun to have the ability to make the patterns up and for someone like me who likes uniformity, it let’s me do that.  When I go back on the app and choose the picture, it allows me to either “start over” or “continue”.  So if I like the picture, I can start another one.  I’ve been printing them off and putting them on the fridge.  I print them out as 4X6 pictures, but they come out as 4 X 4 and I put another piece of colored paper behind them to “set them off”.  Like this:

This is how the picture looks without the paper behind it:

The colors are prettier on my phone and in this picture than they turn out by the printer, but you get the point.  Anyway, it is pretty exciting and a wonderful way to relax while waiting at doctor’s appointments and at other places.  Yesterday, I was lying down on the couch with Wylie purring away at my armpit while I was finishing up the bird.  Then I fell asleep and took a nap.  Such a life!

Oh and the fun thing about this is that you can “stretch” the image so you can put the color in the exact place you want it to go.  Most of the time you just need to touch it, but if it is a small place, by stretching the image, the space is expanded.  It’s really cool.  I told my friend Bill about this.  He texted me and said his fingers were too big, but I told him to “stretch” the image.  I think it will work for him, but he may not have the same attraction to the app as I do.  This satisfies my desire to do art without the cost of buying paints and brushes and “starting from scratch”.  I can’t wait to go to my Art Moai tomorrow and show it off!  The best thing about it is that it is “free”.

Here is another picture in “Recolor”.

One of my favorite ones is this one:

I left a lot of “white” in this one.  It’s pretty “busy” so I didn’t want to do all of the white space.  It reminds me of this picture:

See how much fun I’m having!  Gotta love this!

So today is Aunt Pat’s 89th Birthday!  Happy Birthday!

Dick told me she has spent some time in the hospital with her COPD.  When she returns to her apartment, she will be moved into a “higher” level of care.  I would guess it is like our Memory Care Unit at Orchid Terrace.  It probably means her Alzheimer’s is getting worse.  Dick suggested we send her a birthday card, so I sent one last week.  God bless them all for their devotion and assistance to her.

So I’m going to sign off now.  I’ll leave you with this:
