#269 Good Morning Sunday, November 8, 2015

Good Morning All,

Today is picnic day!  Finally at the day of the event.  I’m looking forward to being there.  Yesterday was a wonderful day.  Jam packed with goodness!  First I went to the Heart Walk:

Heart Walk with Moorings Park

We had a wonderful showing.  I love the shirts!  Very festive!  I did the “short” walk which was nice for a change.  I hope they plan better next year so the Alzheimer’s Walk is NOT on the same day!  So next I was here:

Alzheimer's Walk with Terri.

I love the purple flowers!  They “spin” in the breeze.  I always bring one home after the event and put it in my yard.  They represent someone who has passed away from Alzheimers.  And they just “happen” to be the right color for the Grapevine.  I have Victor E holding the one from last year!

Love the multi-tasking!

It was also the service for Steve yesterday.  What a wonderful tribute.  Ted E Baby was the “host”.  He did a wonderful job.  He and Steve used to meet every week (Steve was his sponsor) and they would read “Language of the Heart”.  We’ve dubbed that book “the PhD of AA”.  It’s really “heavy” and difficult reading.  They read the book from cover to cover 3 times over the years.  They would meet for coffee and read out of the book and then discuss it.  Ted used to work with me at The Chef’s Garden when we first opened on 13th Avenue South.  He eventually gave up the “waiting game” and started selling real estate.  He was pretty successful.  He and his wife Laura just recently moved to Colorado.  He’s retired now, but told me he was working a few “shifts” at a “greasy spoon” out there to keep busy.  I think he’s sponsoring the owner of the place.  He did a great job keeping the service going.  There were just a few speakers.  One was Tim R from The Naples Group.  I’ve always enjoyed it when he would share at the Saturday night meeting.  He’s been sober for over 30 years (he’s about my age) and he spoke about his first meeting at the 24 Hour Club that he attended with his dad (forced to go) where Steve shared his wisdom and it got Tim hooked on the program just like that.  It made him realize that he could question things and still be “part of” this program and he’s been sober ever since.  I’ve dubbed him the “the new guru”.  Look at what Ralph and Heather did for the service:

Chocolate, Coffee and God! You can "Rest In Peace" now Steve!

Ralph and Heather made up around 120 of these and had them on the tables.  I now have one “watching over me and my place” on my bookshelf.  My Guardian Angel:

Having a little trouble typing this morning!

Wylie found the warm spot

There is a little fan under my computer (Steve told me to get one) and it runs while the computer is on and cools it down, but there is a little vent where the warm air comes out and Wylie has decided it is her spot in the morning, so I keep trying to type and she gets in the way.  Oh well, that’s OK!

So now I’m off to get going for the picnic.  I have to finish laundry and then I’ll get going.  It is supposed to rain today, but I just hope it holds off until late this afternoon.  I’ll have my rain gear just in case.  I don’t really care if it rains.  We’ve already collected enough money in ticket sales to cover our expenses and anything we sell today is “gravy”.  I love this stuff!  Thank God for this program!  Have a great day today and thanks for visiting!
