#279 Good Morning Wednesday, December 2, 2015

Good Morning World, Bill and Cathy, Dick and beyond!

So today is my day to go to the Intergroup Meeting tonight.  It will be an interesting meeting because we’ll get the wrap up from Gary on The Gratitude Dinner.  It was a lot of fun for me this year because I didn’t do “ticket control”.  It was well attended with a lot of people I didn’t know.  Just makes me realize that AA is alive and well in Naples.  I sat with Rosi and her son Patrick and another friend of hers and a couple he brought.  Another woman named “Angel” sat with us also.  That made for an interesting night.  Funny how by being a “guest” without responsibilities makes me realize that there are a few things that “drag” on.  It is our “Annual Meeting” afterall and listening to wrap ups on that type of thing can be a little boring, since I hear it each month at the monthly meetings.  But the vast majority of the people don’t get to hear the “State of the Union” each month, so it’s important to keep them informed.  We did a 50/50 Raffle and raised over $1800 that was split this year.  That was AMAZING!  In addition to that we will have “elections”.  We’ve been changing the by-laws all year and I believe that the officers for next year will just have a 1 year tenure and then after that, the by-laws have changed for a 2 year term after that.  It makes sense to do it that way since it takes a year or so to learn the job and then you “move on”.  That is how we do it at District.  So I’m secretary at District for 2 years and will be up for re-election in October – I think I’ll stand for it again since I like doing it.  Getting my reports in from the Chair persons isn’t always easy, but at least I keep “badgering” everyone until it happens.  Intergroup only had a secretary through May.  I figured that Ralph would have to do them himself, but that never happened so there are only a few months of minutes in the Archives for this year.  I put the minutes on the Intergroup website and the last set we have on there is dated:  May 2015.  We at least have a person willing to be Secretary next year.  Michele will do a great job.  I worked with her on the committee for Sister’s By The Sea.  She was very efficient.  I gave her my “cat hotel” a while back since my kitties were not interested in it and it took up too much space in my place.  Remember this?

Anyway, she tells me her cats “love” it!  So I’m glad it has a new “happy” home!

So last night I enjoyed my evening with Dick.  We went to Carrabba’s to have “Chicken Bryan”.  I didn’t realize he liked the dish as much as I do.  I always order it!  I had it with broccoli last night rather than the fettucine alfredo.  So it was a little healthier.  Then we went to The Current for our service for “World Aids Day”.  It was really well done and it was a chance for Dick to see The Current.  They live so close to it from their place at Wiggins.  I measured my trip there last night.  It is 20 miles door to door.  That is quite a drive really, when there are churches much closer to where I live.  But I love our little church.  I like all of the people.  Now that we’ve “blended” with MCC, it’s a different place than before.  I think it will grow into something bigger as time goes on, if we can “hang in there”.  I envision the “events center” becoming busier as time goes on.  We’ve had a wedding:

And this is a picture of Bart and me “deconstructing” the space when we first moved in:

Here is another picture of that project:

Our wedding was for Jamie and Lynn so they were really instrumental in getting the place fixed up.  Doing “stuff” like that makes you have a “vested” interest in sticking around.

And in addition to this event, we had a fund raiser for Breast Cancer Awareness that Sharon Ardrey worked on.  I don’t have any pictures of that, but it was really successful also.  But the best thing for me is that I love our Food Angels Ministry:

Love the LOGO and love the deal!

Well, time has run out for today.  Got to get rolling.  Thanks for visiting!
