RV Life with DAISEE2 #117 Monday, December 16, 2024

Good Morning Everyone!

I’m leaving this morning for a 4 night stay at Lost Dutchman State Park! It’s gonna be cold!

This is at our rally in March of 2024. It was in the group area. I’m not sure what my view will be like today. I’m in Site 97 which is in the first campground loop near the entrance. So it will be interesting to see my view and how I’ll park DAISEE2.

I have a great view of the mountain here out my back window. The other windows are great views too! Sue just arrived. She is setting up and we are going to go check out Usery this afternoon. I put Jack’s Christmas lights around the posts at the electric and water area. I am so happy to be here. 4 NIGHTS! I won’t let Jack rain on my parade, although I was letting him do that a little. But now that I’m here, I’m Happy, Happy, Happy. My Starlink set up beautifully, I’m plugged in and my water is hooked up. I don’t need anything else. Metaxa is finally out of hiding and on my lap. All is good in the world!

I love these little get aways. Jack doesn’t like it but I can’t help that. I won’t ever stop this until I can’t drive any longer. I’m hoping for at least 10 years, but could be longer. I think my rig will last all the rest of my rving life. At least it should!

I got the Waggle camera to work, but the picture is upside down. I’ll call them in a day or so if it doesn’t fix itself.

I now have an old Bounder Class C next to me on this drive. So I’m close to another couple. They seem nice, but still too close!

Sue and I went to Usery to check out the Group A Area. She likes it. So it will be fine for Campsgiving next Thanksgiving. I’ll just visit from home and not take the rig, but I might bring the rig on Friday and Saturday if there is room.

Sunset walk with Sally and Sue.

I didn’t need to level DAISEE2 at all. Thought when I first came in that it would need leveling, but not so! Love it when I don’t need to get out those big yellow levels!

So I thought I would try to plug in an inverter that I have that should connect to a cigarette connection in the storage area over the bed. I noticed that there was a red light at the fuse box which I had never seen before. I figured that I blew a fuse somehow – maybe the inverter – too strong? The lights would not work and the WAGGLE was off. Anyway, I knew I had a bunch of fuses somewhere but finally found them in the BIG STORAGE area in a plastic bin. I have now moved that box into the shower, because most of the stuff in that box is stuff I need inside DAISEE2. So here is the box of fuses:

They are REALLY HARD TO READ, so I labeled them. Phew. Now I know how to change a fuse. SO proud of myself for troubleshooting and resolving the issue!

I can see this light outside through the passenger window. It is on the picnic table.

I’m listening to my music. It’s great now because a lot of the music is Christmas music. Anyway, I ate my Amy bowl and an ice cream sandwich. I think I’ll close this for now. I’ll take it up again tomorrow.

Good morning on Tuesday, December 17th! This is what my sunrise looked like!

You can see how close my neighbor is! Anyway, lets get this day going. Making coffee right now! First sip of Hazelnut coffee is AMAZING! We are leaving around 9AM for a roadtrip to Globe and Roosevelt Lake.

It got cold in the rig last night (40’s) so I turned on the furnace for a bit. It never cycled off, so I turned it off after about 20 minutes. It took the chill out. I now have the radiator on and I’ll use that on 1 tonight when we go to bed. Maybe it will keep it toasty in here.

I decided to take a walk to the bathrooms from here. There isn’t any in this loop. The TREK was 9 minutes one way. So I guess I won’t be walking there. I may ride my bike there if I decide to take a shower. Anyway, I guess DAISEE2 will be christened this trip!

There was a cool SUNDIAL on the way:

My fridge is working too well!!

Spent the day in Sue’s truck travelling around the area. Wanted to go to Roosevelt Lake. It was a big, beautiful lake:

Stopped at a hole in the wall Pizza Joint. Harley Tee Shirts all over the walls. The owner said he didn’t ride a Harley, but his customers always bring him shirts for his place. It was interesting. Thought it was a little sketchy but the pizza was fantastic! Only $10 for the Pizza and Drink!

So we drove on a very curvey and unfinished road all the way from Roosevelt back to AJ. It took us about 3 hours on white knuckling roads. So happy I was a rider and not a driver. Sue did great. Anyway, the views were spectacular. I think I have a video of some of it, but here are some great pictures of the rock canyon walls:

In the next picture you can see the dirt road we were on:

Very cool cave in the next one:

We drove through Tortilla Flats – may go back there on Thursday for their famous hamburgers!

I’m back home now with Metaxa on my lap and we had a great sunset:

Today is Wednesday, December 18, 2024. It was cold this morning:

Same temp and humidity in and out!

Metaxa is sitting on my lap right now keeping me warm and happy! She is such a great camping cat. I really enjoy having her with me while I camp. She doesn’t bother me during the night as much as she does at home. She has been curling up and sleeping next to me in her circle! I asked her if she remembered traveling with Wylie. No answer!

I had to load about 3000 pictures before I found one with Wylie in it. I still have all of those things today (except Wylie), the fleeces, Thankful Pillow, Quilts, Indian Blanket. All part of my RV Life! Based on the view out of the window, I think that was when I was in the SKP Park in Benson.

We went to lunch at Alice & Elna’s. They cooked lasagna, just like my recipe. It was delicious and then chocolate pie for dessert. Next we picked up Sue’s fixed tire and filled her propane. Tomorrow Genie, Sue and I are going on a boat tour on Canyon Lake at NOON and then we’ll have burgers in Tortilla Flats. Should be great! I’m treating them because they have been so good to me. It’s an early Christmas present.

Took this picture today from the camera in DAISEE2. SO COOL!

I rode my bike to the bath house it took me 9 minutes to walk to. The showers work. So I may take a shower early on Friday morning. I’ll have to ride my bike there. It’s easy to get to them on my bike. It only takes me 20 minutes to get home from here, so that is the plan at this moment. We’ll see how cold it is. But this is a picture of the area:

A family of hippies moved in across from me. I counted 4 adults and 2 little kids and a dog.

I think I’ll close this for tonight. I’ll call Jack in a minute and then watch some videos, eat an Amy Bowl and go to bed. Be back tomorrow am!

Good Morning everyone. It is now Thursday, December 19, 2024. We are going on a boat tour of Canyon Lake and then we are going to Tortilla Flats for lunch. It should be fun. I’ll take lots of pictures. We might even see Big Horn Sheep. FUN!

I brought my little lamp into DAISEE2 that was on the front porch, but we were not using it. I love the ambiance that it creates in here. This picture was taken while I was at my AA meeting. SO COOL!

I called Waggle and they fixed my camera:

Our road trip today took us to Tortilla Flats with a boat trip around Canyon Lake. It was fantastic!

We sat up front outside. It was a beautiful day for it! We saw eagles and big horned sheep!

We went to Tortilla Flat for lunch. This was their bar:

There were dollar bills all over every inch of wall space!

Today is Friday, December 20, 2023. Only 5 more days until Christmas! Anyway, we’re leaving today. It’s been a very busy 4 nights here even though we didn’t have all that much “planned”. It ended up being pretty busy as this blog shows. I’m not sure why I didn’t take pictures with Elna and Alice. They were so sweet to have us for lunch! Yesterday’s Boat Ride on The Dolly was a highlight. Not to mention that LONG adventure down Apache Trail. I think we’ll offer that boat trip for our time at Lost Dutchman in March.

While we were out yesterday, we checked out this campground. It was empty and looked like it was in disrepair. BUT there were electric/water sites RIGHT ON THE LAKE! It was pretty cool. I think DAISEE2 would fit in the spots, but much longer might be a trick. We weren’t sure weather it was even open. There is also a campground across from Tortilla Flat with the same feeling.

The sun is just coming up. I’ll be back after I give Jack a morning call. Gonna end this one now. Thanks so much for visiting!

Beginning this again on Sunday, December 22, 2024. Just waiting for my meeting to start and then I’ll close this blog out for a while. Will probably pick it up again after Christmas.

Last night we went to Gary’s for a Christmas Party. What a place! I wasn’t really looking forward to it, but it ended up being really cool. He has the greatest house and yard in a very nice neighborhood. Jack told me it was a really great house and he was right. His wife (I can’t remember her name, but I’ll need to write them a thank you note) decorated the house beautifully, right out of a magazine. Here are just two pictures I took:

It was really fun. And the food was perfect. Not a sit down dinner – just finger foods and the best Gumbo EVER. Apparently, Gary is some cook. He makes the gumbo and many of the desserts – great FUDGE!

I took this picture inside of DAISEE2 this morning when it was DARK out. I installed a newer version of the app on my phone so it fixed being upside down!

Merry Christmas everyone. See you after our trip to Benson!
