#308 Good Morning July 10, 2016

Hello World,

So I did a crazy thing yesterday.  I bought a new motorcycle – a Harley!  Here is her picture:

My new Harley - yet to be named!

It is a 2006 Harley-Davidson XL 883 Sportster.  I’m very excited about it.  I won’t get it until Monday or Tuesday.  It is all because of this:

Now I know I said that the other motorcycles in my life were big and I am so happy with my scooter and I am, but I was missing out on my friends who had Harley’s.  It is just a different world and I want to be part of it.  Even when I had my Honda Shadow – it wasn’t the same.  I never thought I would get a Harley because they were so expensive.  I saw that they now make a 500 Harley and I thought now that would be nice – and it was only around $7000 which is cheap for a Harley.  But after getting all the bells and whistles – it would be over $10K.  But I saw I could finance it for 6 years for $98 a month.  I figured I could do that, but by the time it was all over, I’d be paying more and I know once I was hooked into the process I’d pay anything – prime example – RED2.  Anyway so I went on Craig’s List.  I’ve had a lot of luck with Craig’s List for this type of thing.  Remember, I bought my bike that way:

Anyway I saw the ad for a 2006 Harley-Davidson Custom 883 for $3500.  It only has 4700 miles on it which is practically new.  I guess the guy never rode it much.  So then I had planned to take Red2 to get her oil changed and Roy was going to help me by picking me up on Crystal since we had a Workshop Committee meeting at the 24 Hour Club.  So after the meeting we had time to get to the New Attitudes Club Noon meeting and Roy was going to meet Tom Hardesty there.  I’m glad we went.  I saw Suzee who I had lost track of and it was great seeing her.  She is now working full time in the Paint Department at Home Depot.  She texted me this morning so now I think I’ll get back to seeing her periodically.  She is still living with Cathy in her own apartment and has a cat.  When I pick up my new Harley, I’ll take a ride over to see her.  So after the noon meeting my scooter was ready to be picked up so off we went with Tom coming along.  So I picked up Red2 which cost me $172 for an oil change!  UGH!  So now that I have my Harley it will be more but I want it to be checked out at Harley-Davidson the first time and then I’ll go to Everglades Cycle – I think that is where a lot of people go since Harley-Davidson is pretty expensive.  But Rainer (previous owner of my Harley) said he took it to Harley for all of his work on it.  After finally finding the address where the bike was, Rainer would not let me drive it.  So I asked him to drive it and I rode behind him.  Next, I tried to get it for $3200 but he wouldn’t budge since he said he lowered the price from $4000.  When I looked it up on Kelley Blue Book, it was worth $3900 so I got a pretty good deal and I won’t have a payment and it is only $3500.  So I’m happy – although I just took  $5000 and paid off my credit cards!  Oh well.

uiiiiiiiii8 Domino just walked across the keyboard.  He is so funny!

After picking up the scooter we all went over to Menchies for Frozen Yogurt.  It is like Spin.  So we sat around and had a nice conversation and Tom asked if we ever felt lonely.  I said sure, but my cats keep me from being lonely.  Plus now I’ll have the HD to ride when I get that way.  But the main thing is riding together.  It is going to be fun.  I’ll have Roy to ride with.  Polly and John to ride with.  And Jackie and her friends to ride with.  All Harley riders.

Well the keyboard isn’t keeping up so it is time to get going.  Off to church.  I think I’ll ride Red2.  I really don’t like that my hair gets so messed up when I do that, but I may not get another time to ride today.  I don’t see any rain on the map so I think I’ll be OK.  What’s the worst that can happen…… I have to take another shower and wash my hair again.  Ah Vanity!!!!!

Bye – thanks for visiting!
