RV Life with DAISEE2 #146 Thursday, September 18, 2025

I made it to PAGE, AZ.  Very interesting drive up here.  Lots of miles through “the res” and not much going on if there was a breakdown!

I stopped at the Pilot up 17 from Flagstaff where I went to the Loves the last time and weighed DAISEE2. Gas was only $2.99 – $3.95 in MESA!

I got here about 3PM. I’m all set up and level with my STARLINK and Waggle Camera working! We’re about to have “Happy Hour” but I’ll blog until I need to go and then come back and continue. The temperature is supposed to be 93, but seems cooler than that. It’s 88 inside. I have fans running!

Made a pitt stop before no man’s land:

Filled up again in Page:

This is my site #22: Genie on my left, Elna and Alice on my right.

Here is a short video while driving in:

What an interesting landscape here near Lake Powell.

I’m starting this again on Friday, September 19, 2025.  My computer isn’t working so I’m doing this on my iPad.  Guess I should get used to it because I’m going to use this next June when I go to YNP.  Anyway I’m upset about my computer.  Maybe it will work later, who knows!  Here are my temps this morning:

I couldn’t figure out how to add pictures from the iPad. I need to work on that before June! Holy Cow – my computer is working now. TUG!! I guess I didn’t shut it completely down last night – so I’m going to leave it on all of the time while I’m here. I don’t want to lose it and it is so much easier to blog with the computer!

Sue had this at her water station. I need to get one for DAISEE2!

This was my morning view today. Looks like Monument Valley!

We had a tour at 10:30 AM for Antelope Canyon. I took a ton of pictures – it was really amazing:

Our tour guide!

Sue in the slot:

It was really amazing!

Our next adventure was to Page and the Glen Canyon Dam. It was quite something!

Bridge to the Dam:

Sue got this nice picture of me and DAISEE2!

Beginning again on Saturday, September 20, 2025. My temps are 69 inside and probably 64 or so outside. My weather station isn’t working on the outside temp (78) but I think it may be because I have my hot water heater on. I’m considering taking a shower in the rig maybe. TBD! There is way too much stuff in my shower so I took a shower at the campground shower. It was pretty good!

Today is a free day for me. Not sure how it will go. I’d really like to go to Horseshoe Bend, but I’d need a ride. Marge wants to go kayaking. I’m not sure I want to do that. I think I’ll go for a bike ride this morning. It’s nice and cool today.

I went down to the boat ramp. It’s very LONG to the water and according to the guide I talked to, it’s a drop off into the water. So I’m not going kayaking. Don’t want to blow up the kayak. I was thinking I’d like a ladder on the back of the rig and perhaps I can get a rack to hold a hard sided kayak. Time will tell. Getting a ladder installed is another thing. I think I’ll talk to the guys at State Trailer.

Want to try to get to Horseshoe Bend today. Trying to convince Sue to drive! I could go with Genie, but I don’t like riding in that little MINI with her. She’s a bit scary to ride with, just sayin’!! We’re going to Horseshoe Bend at sunset after Happy Hour today. FUN!

Found POLAR at Safeway – 2 for 7:

Marge checked out the kayaking – she decided not to go because:

And this:

I rode the bike there this morning and it was a LONG WAY DOWN! Lake Powell is really LOW!

Sat out and enjoyed coffee under the awning:

Was scrolling through FB and found this memory:

I think it said he was 18. I had him for 18 years – his brother James died before him at about 16 years. This picture was taken in the house on 9th AVE in Naples. I recognize that parquet floor.

Found this old video of RVW AZ Rallies in 2017: Robbin and Cindy and a couple of others did it.

Made it to Horseshoe Bend at sunset tonight:

Sue and Sally:

Beginning again on Sunday, September 21, 2025. Here are my temps this morning:

Sunrise this morning. It’s a beautiful day today!

We’re on a plateau above the marina’s parking lot. It’s interesting. I like this campground, but there are no trees for shade so yesterday my rig got hot, so the A/C ran a lot. I’ll leave it on today too while we’re going on our boat tour at 11. I can’t find a receipt for the tour today (found it). I hope we’re just listed in their computer. I’m sure it is.

Walked down to the marina today on my “walk” and took this picture of the boat ramp! It was so far down, you could not see any water. So strange:

Took a picture of DAISEE2 from the other side:

That is the back of Genie, DAISEE2 and Alice and Elna. I moved DAISEE2 back so I could reach the sewer. I guess I should dump before I leave tomorrow – probably this evening after it cools off. Then I could put everything away. Oops. I need to go rehook up the water. BRB!

I still feel like I’m at Monument Valley!

Took a boat ride today from the marina to Antelope Canyon. It was beautiful to be on the water today. We had a great woman guide. She was fantastic. Anyway, Lucy made it:

Here is a video:

VIDEO – Later

Here are some pictures from the ride:

This was where they shot Planet of the Apes and as our very young boat captain said “Some old actor named Charlton Heston swam in the movie here”. Old age is interesting!

This was going back to the marina. It was amazing!

This is what we wanted to see at Horseshoe Bend last night:

Stolen from FaceBook. But tonight we had the best sunset! Horseshoe Bend could have been like this tonight!

It was 360 degrees!

Today is travel day. We’re going to Canyon De Chelly. Yesterday, I was pretty miserable in the rig. It got hot. BUT in Chinle (where we are going today) it will be in the 40’s at night so I should be ok. It’s boondocking – not my favorite, but since I’ve come this far, I should continue – even though I was thinking about not doing it and going home to Mesa. This morning I feel better so onward!!! These are my temps today:

I’m going to get dressed soon and go for a walk before the road trip. I still need to get directions from Sue and Marie. I have a fly in the rig. I hate that!

Charlie Kirk’s memorial was in Glendale, AZ yesterday. The service was amazing. The speakers were amazing. It took about 4 hours – too long for me, but there were 60K people in the arena. AMAZING. Over 100K in both places!

My Waggle is still working here:

Love this tool in DAISEE2. At the next campground, we may put Sally in my rig with the A/C and generator on so we can monitor the temperature while we are on a tour. We’ll see!
