Hello World (Steve and Bob, that is – perhaps)

I am back in business again with my blogging.  This is very exciting.  I was at a point a couple of days ago saying “to heck with it” as I’d had my fun with it and if I can’t get it to work, well, so be it.  But Host Gator came to the rescue.  That is worth the price of my annual hosting fee.  So I’m wondering now, if you have to pay the same price for other websites to be hosted, or can you “Piggyback” other sites on the same nickel?  Bob may have some experience with that – I know he does sites for others.  That would be interesting to know if I’m going to do this in my “retirement”.  I keep thinking about retirement, but I know I’m not there yet.  Just trying to keep my options open.  Speaking of retirement – the September Grapevine is about “old timers” in their 70’s coming in to AA as “newcomers”.  Since I was 51 when I came in, I feel like I’m ahead of the curve.  But think of the “young” people coming in in their teens and 20’s.  But as we know, our journey is our journey and we come in when we are ready.

So this morning I let the cats out on my cute little front door porch.  The screen door is not totally “tight” around the bottom, so lizards come in and climb around the stuff I have out there.  So this morning, Metaxa and Domino caught a lizard.  They are so proud of it and they brought it in the house for me.  Domino had it in his mouth and would let it go and Metaxa would chase it down.  I know that is a little cruel, but they don’t often get the chance to be “cats” in the wild.  So after a while, I found the beat up little thing and put it outside.  I hope it survives, but I hope it learned never to come in the porch again!  I love it that the cats continued to search for it, but now they are resting and turning their backs on me.  But their memories are short and they are very forgiving.  I love that about them!

So my friend Jessica had her baby early the other day – yesterday or the day before.  She is a friend at work and she had the baby shower on Saturday that I didn’t attend because of the IG Picnic and because I really don’t like baby showers – or bridal showers either.  I think I went to them in my younger days so I could have an excuse to get drunk.  Now that is out of the equation so no reason to go.  So anyway, on Sunday I bought her a box of baby wipes and was bringing it to work for her, and low and behold, she has the baby.  Here is the picture:

What a beautiful momma she is.

Look what was on Facebook this morning – the whole famdamly:

This is one beautiful family!

So I’m so bad at this, she knew she was going to have a girl and so they have a name for her, and I don’t know it (It might be Jenna).  THAT is REALLY BAD!  However, have you ever seen such a beautiful woman and her wrapped up baby before?  Look, her hair is PERFECT!  So Jessica, we’ll miss you at work, but enjoy your 12 weeks!  I’ll get those baby wipes to you soon!

Today at work we’re doing a presentation on “The Best Friends” approach to Alzheimer care.  We are developing a memory care unit at Orchid Terrace.  We’ve had to relocate our residents and we have 4 more to do.  Right now we have 2 rooms available and 2 others on the horizon, so we should be ready for renovation in a couple of months.  That should be an interesting project and once it is open, it’s going to be interesting also.  My boss and Millie (DON) are “in charge”.  The only problem, is that they have a little powerpoint presentation and they want to show it in the Activities Room with the fancy equipment in there.  So does anyone know how that stuff works?  Not really.  So this morning, we’re going to go through setting this up with the help of others.  So wish us luck – if it doesn’t work, we’ll be stressing and getting IT to come down at the last minute.  Mind you, I only found out yesterday that I was expected to run this equipment and the powerpoint.  So off to work I go!

Have a beautiful day today – unless you have other plans (Thank you Bill S.!)
