Good Morning from the cool north in Arizona in Pinetop! I arrived yesterday and this was what happened. My first stop on the drive was at a gas station! $125 in Gas!
I got to the RV Park and I’m in site 553, right behind Madeline and Robbin. Robbin is back home in Chandler and won’t be here until Thursday. But this is the map of the place – look how huge it is!
This was sunrise this morning around 5:15: It was much pinker than it shows but that means I can watch sunset from my chair outside under the awning – which is out right now!
This is my site: I know I put this in the last blog, but decided today to start a new one about this trip.
There is no one to my driver side and the people to my passenger side are not here. I guess they come up for the weekends. That is nice. The people across the street from me have all kinds of flags and lights out at night, but the place is extraordinarily quiet! I slept with my window open at my bed and other windows open all night. It was fantastic! These are my temperatures this morning:
It is humid outside though. But the temperature is glorious! The only sound I hear is the clock ticking (my Route 66 clock) and a big crow or raven – don’t know which. Madeline says there are wild horses that come through the park once in a while. Last year they had trouble with bears, but apparently they fixed that problem (taking out the trash more often) because she hasn’t seen any this year – that is comforting!
Madeline came over to check my water connections so I took a picture of how it should be done. NICE!
Robbin sold her Class C and traded it for a 5th Wheel. It is beautiful. She kept the window covers and gave them to me. THEY FIT!!!!!
I put my other one and the side window ones out by the dumpster. Hopefully someone will rehome them! So today, I’m going to try to inventory some of my drawers and storage areas. I have WAY too much stuff in here if I was to share it with Jack and the kitties. Even for me it is A LOT! I got the 4 drawers under the sink done today along with the 2 drawers under the stove. Next I’ll do the cabinets on the passenger side of the rig. There isn’t much in those cabinets. So I’ll eventually get it all done. I have lots of time to do it. Madeline wanted to go the Tractor Supply for some matts to extend her slab here. I needed Kleenex so I got a ride to the Dollar Store. I’m sitting in DAISEE2 while it is raining really hard – and thunder – poor BOO! Glad I don’t need to contend with an animal in a thunder storm. I connected my sewer hose just before the downpour. It’s pretty cool listening to the rain. I think DAISEE2 is getting a pretty good bath.

So the way this place works, Madeline and Robbin have their spots for the summer and they leave their rigs here over the winter and it only costs them $100 a month. I guess they need to winterize them. That would be a deal breaker for me. Anyway, it’s about $650 a month in the summer (4 month minimum) and electric and water is included. She says it is a better deal than the last place they stayed. That place is closed now anyway. I just noticed my outside temperature is not working on my weather station. Not sure if it just got wet or what. We’ll see what happens as the day goes on. I sure am glad that I’m at my site and not driving up here today rather than yesterday.
Starting this again on Thursday, July 16, 2026. My outside weather temperature isn’t working – I think it’s the battery or it got wet yesterday in the rain. But I asked ChatGPT and this is the temperature outside today:

It’s a great way to start the day! It’s cloudy today, but not raining “yet”. I enjoyed the rain yesterday. It’s different and sounds very cool in DAISEE2! Since I’m up so early (went to my meeting this morning) I may make another pot of coffee. Time will tell.
I took a shower this morning. It felt good! It needed to run quite a bit before it got hot. I hated to waste that much water but I guess it is what it is. But it was very nice. There was no sunrise this morning. It’s cloudy so I bet it will rain again. I’m glad I’m here in comfortable temperatures. I don’t need to do much, just being in nice temperatures is enough. I kind of like this place. Might come up again next year. We’ll see.
We just got back from dinner at the Steakhouse in Pinetop. It cost me $50 and I brought half of it home. I may eat it later because it’s only 5:30. We got the Happy Hour pricing. It was good
Jack and I are thinking about moving to Sierra Vista in a year or so. We’ve gotten to the point where the heat in the summer is tough on us. I think that first we should sell the Jeep GC Summit. It’s stupid that we have it. In the last 3 years, I bet we’ve driven it less than 10 times. Our insurance is $1800 a year for both Jeeps. Next year, my Jeep will be 25 years old and we can get it antique insurance like Jack gets on his 40 Ford. Much cheaper! But when I think of moving again, it doesn’t thrill me. So I’m betting we’ll stay in Mesa and just get out of town a bit in the summer. I had been looking at places in Sierra Vista but I think I’ll stop doing that. We’re not ready yet and I really don’t want to move again. Time will tell.
Today is Friday, July 17th – it’s travel day. I’m up at 6AM making coffee. I slept well last night so I’ll be good on the road. I’m taking 260 back to Payson and home from there. I did not like traveling through Globe on 60. It was too curvy for me. 260 is much better. Here are the temps today: 64 inside…..
My outside temperature is not working on my weather station. I hope Jack can fix it for me. He’s done it before!
The sun is coming up but it’s cloudy so the sunrise won’t be as good as it was the first day here. Let me get a picture of that: I see that I put this in before. Oh well!
I got a neighbor yesterday. It was fun watching them pull in. He made it look easy:
It’s the same type of rig that Madeline has, but it looks like a newer version. I bet it’s nice inside! I still wouldn’t want one that big.
Took more guesses today, but I got it. I LOVE WORDLE!
I just got with Shannon and we’re going to go to Fool Hollow next July for 4 days – It is in Show Low so the temperature will be the same as here. I like this place – it’s so quiet, but I’d like to kayak and Shannon can drive us, although I can use my wheels too:

Today is Tuesday, July 21, 2026. It’s warm here in Mesa. I’ve mentioned that Jack and I are considering moving to Sierra Vista. It’s much cooler there in the summer:
It would be much more comfortable in the summer there, the winters can be cold, but every house I’ve looked at has a fireplace. I think we could find a good house down there. It’s fun to check them out. We would be closer to Bill and Cathy if we did that. Time will tell. We’re not going to do it for a year or so. We need to move in the winter – NOT THE SUMMER although I kinda wish I was there now. Patience!
Jack and I have decided not to move YET. We’re thinking about Vail, AZ and Green Valley and that area. We’ve made this home a place for DAISEE2 to be beside us and we want that again. Seems to be limited availability for that down there. I do want a 55+ Community because I don’t want a bunch of kids running around. I like this neighborhood because we’re all old – no kids. Time will tell. I did get excited about going to see property tomorrow, but we’re skipping it at this time. I think that is a good decision. DAISEE2 needs to be beside us!
