Hello Everyone,
I got a tent for Olivi@. Suzee and I tried to get it up, but it was SO windy it was tough to do. We did get it mostly up and I could get the “tunnel” from the door to the tent separated. I’m excited that I have it. Only problem is that it takes 2 people to put it up. I can not do it alone. I tried to get it up in the garage. Here is a picture of it on the floor.
There are two fiberglass poles that fit in the “X”. They go up like a dome. Then there are tent poles that fit in each corner. After it is “up”, there are 3 more poles that secure the tent awning. I haven’t gotten to that point. Suzee and I couldn’t do it with the wind when we tried to put it up. So, we will need to try it again on a calmer day. I am going camping all by myself on Dec. 17th & 18th. I will be going out to Collier-Seminole State Park. I don’t think I’m going to bother with the tent for just those days. If it was a longer trip I would take it. That is where I went with Suzan and Bette for my first time camping in July. It was TOO HOT to do it and we cut it short because Zia licked a toad and we had to bring her in to the emergency vet. I was glad to get home. It was too hot and buggy in the screen tent. So I’m beginning to think about where I want to be when it is so oppressive in Naples in the summer. I joined “Harvest Hosts” which is a camping service that allows you to camp overnight in unusual places for free (Although they want you to purchase their products) when you are there. The first one I want to visit is: Bee Barn in Zolfo Springs:
I’ll probably do a trip in January. Will go to Highlands Hammock again and then over there for a night. Then back home before the weekend.
Another exciting thing happened today:
It is pretty close and difficult to get around in the garage, but at least I won’t need to keep Otis in the driveway getting all hot and bothered. This is HUGE! I can open up the kitchen and do the laundry without taking the car out of the garage. Now when we have those terrible downpours, I’ll be able to get into the garage, which is the whole purpose of having a 2 car garage in Florida. I am so excited! I even went out there today with Wylie and hung out for a while. It’s hot again today here in Florida. I’m looking forward to some cool weather again. I’m going to get Blake to add a lock to the front storage space for the propane and battery. I don’t want them stolen when I not at the campsite. Then I’m going to have Blake do the “mod” for the heater:
I learned about this “mod” Modification) on the FB Page: T@G You’re It. The little heater needs to be plugged directly into the outlet. So you get an outlet and put it up on the cabinet and plug the heater into it. The space is so small, that it should heat up quickly and then you don’t need to worry about any “fires” due to the heat element touching fabric. I have the engineering drawings too for Blake.
I took this video a while back when Suzan and I were practicing backing up at FSW College right across from where I live. The parking lot is EMPTY on the weekends. We did this the day before our trip to Highlands Hammock and now that I know how to upload videos to YouTube, I now have my own channel. It’s pretty exciting!
Well I guess that is about all for now. I’m about to be picked up to go to Meditation with Suzan and Bette. Thanks for visiting.
See you next time!
