Olivi@ & Otis RV Life #27-2

At Kissimmee Prairie

I am attempting to write the blog I started when I was on the camping trip last week. Each time I tried to see it, the only thing that would pop up was the 2 pictures I have of Otis & Olivi@ on their page. It was weird but it may have been the issue with the MiFi. Anyway, I’m going to try to reconstruct it. The trip was super. I had a lot of adventures, the first being:

Got the Tent Up

This is really funny. Suzee sent me a message on messenger when I was at the camp and I wanted to show her the tent that I finally got up. It was a real pain and I’ve decided to sell it and I did, but then I didn’t – more on that later. Somehow, when I tried to send her this picture, it edited it with the wording on it. So I still don’t know what I did but it’s pretty cool!

Here is a picture of the whole camp:

All Set Up

That was before the storm. So, on Monday, we arrived and I just put up the awning. It was super! Pretty easy to put out. Here is a picture of the first night’s camp:

Night One

The next day was Tuesday and I worked to put up the tent and figured I’d keep it up for the rest of the trip. WELL……..on Tuesday night I was tucked in with the big tent attached to Olivi@ and I went to bed with the passenger door open into the tent. The tent was HUGE! It was like being in a circus tent! WAY TOO BIG! But what the heck. Anyway, that night, a big windy rain storm blew in and the first thing that happened was that the tent separated from the door, so I held it for a while, but decided all I needed to do was let it go and close the door and ride it out. Well the storm carried on for quite some time, and my awning blew down too – big CRASH!

I wasn’t about to go outside and try to put it down in the middle of the storm, so now the deal is: always take it down at night – no matter what! And also if we plan to be away from camp for an extended time since we don’t know what will happen while we are out. I wish I had taken pictures of the damage, but I didn’t. The tent was collapsed but no damage. The Awning collapsed and one of the poles bent so it won’t close correctly right now. I think I can just replace that pole. I’m going to call them on Monday. So it is now closed with a bungee cord and is fine. Blake did a great job installing it. I’ve decided to buy the side tent that fits the awning. It isn’t as “pretty” as the BIG TENT, but it will work.

Here is another picture!

ARB Awning

This was taken on Day 1 – before the storm. So comfy!

So after the storm blew the tent down and the awning was bent, I laid out the tent to dry:

Drying Tent

It took about 4 hours to dry. Then we folded it up and put it away. I immediately put it “up for sale” and I got a buyer. After connecting – he was in Bradenton, and was going to give me $400 cash for it. But after further review, I realized it would have been a “wasted” trip because it doesn’t fit on a T@B – only a T@G. It could be free standing however, but not sure that was what he wanted. Anyway, I plan to contact the Tear Drop Shop to see if they will return it and give me my money back. Why would they do that though, so I’m not really counting on that.

All week we had turkeys as neighbors:

Turkeys all over the place!

In addition to so many turkeys, I saw a deer, water moccasin, wild hog, hawk and Meadow Lark.

Here is a great picture that Suzan took of the bright sunset – they were amazing over the prairie:

Sunset over the Prairie

I guess that is about all for now. Time to finish up. Thanks for visiting!
