Ms. Days Ease RV Life #14

So today is Thursday, September 12th. Yesterday was 911. It still haunts me. Here is an interesting video from Tam who was in Manhattan at the time of the event:

Warrior Tam

So this is my friend Tamala and she is currently in Mexico having cancer treatments. She may have gotten cancer from being at “ground zero” back on 911 2001. She was there when the towers fell and helped during the first days of chaos. I can believe that. She started a Go Fund Me page to help pay for the treatment that her insurance will not cover. I think it is legit. I loved the way she “jumped in” at Sisters By The Sea last year. She died her hair pink and was generally a cheerleader during the entire weekend. It was pretty cool.

So yesterday we wrapped up the Radio Show. Here is our group picture:

Radio Play

First Row: Sharon, Jim, Me. Second Row: Pat, Peggy, Betsy, Joe, Steve & Holli. Third Row: Ken. It was a great experience. I’m looking forward to hearing the entire thing put together. I’ve never experienced a “recording session” before. Alex was the engineer and Johnny was the producer. Jim wrote the play years ago and we did it as a project for Intergroup for this year. We will be selling the CD’s at the Gratitude Dinner and will be singing 3 songs during the evening. It should be great. I’d be interested in how they put it all together. We recorded the singing on Tuesday and the play on Wednesday. Then they will add the sound effects after that. Very interesting process.

So yesterday I saw a post on FB about how expensive it is to travel in an RV for 3 months. Let me see if I can find it.

11000 mile trip

So the reality is that it isn’t cheap to do this type of thing. But I do have 1/2 price Passport America and I have the “old fart” card that gives me discounts and it doesn’t look like this guy used anything like that. So I think it could be done a lot cheaper. Also, comments added that there are “free places” to camp that he didn’t seem to take advantage of either. But gas is what it is and my Miles per gallon may be a little lower – more like 8 miles per gallon. I haven’t driven her enough to determine that. I guess that will show for me when I go to Arizona. I guess I’m just in need of being more patient and realize that things will work out as they should. I am not in control. I’ll let God show me the way. Patience is Power!

One thing though, is that I can learn a lot from comments and YouTube. I found a video on my refrigerator yesterday that helped me! Let me see if I can find that.

My refrigerator

I learned that there is a little “lock” that keeps the doors ajar so when it is off, it won’t cause mildew or other smells. That was worth it! I think I’ll be OK, but I’m thinking that because there is a bit of a hill in my driveway, I can’t chill down my refrigerator for 24 hours before I take off because the rig needs to be level for the refrigerator to work correctly. So I guess I’ll need to take my cooler and then when I get to the campground I can plug in and chill the refrigerator down. I’m going to go to Koreshan State Park in October from a Sunday night to Wednesday and that will be the time I’ll check the use of the refrigerator. It will give me time to chill it down. I’ll turn it on when I leave and run it while driving. Then once I “plug” in, I’ll be able to run it off of 110. Which reminds me, I need to get an adaptor that I can use for plugging into 50 Amps when that is all is available. Let me go do that now. DONE! Gotta love Amazon!

Since I didn’t go to the 8AM meeting, I think I’ll go for a walk like I did yesterday. Be back in 1/2 hour! DONE! It is 77 degrees this morning. That is pleasant. I didn’t start sweating so that is a good thing. I walked yesterday also. So I guess when I don’t go to an 8AM meeting, I’ll just walk when I can. Today I have time because I’m going to Artsy Thrift for the day. Hope we get some business. I think I’ll go see what they did yesterday. 4 sales for $33.50. I noticed that Artsy Thrift is about $23K in the hole. With days like this and zero days, I’m not seeing this place continuing. I suppose that conversation needs to happen one day.
