Today is Tuesday, September 24, 2019. I chair the 8AM meeting today. So I need to prep for that. But it’s early, 5:50AM, so I have time to rant a little.
Last night Suzee and I put the bike rack on the back of Daisy. It is a little loose, but once the 60 pound bike is on it, I think it won’t rattle as much, plus I’ll tie it down. There are places to tie it to at the back bumper. I am supposed to go to Collier-Seminole State Park tonight for an overnight. I may need to cancel it because my Jeep is having a little issue. It has stalled 3 times now out of the blue. I don’t know why it’s doing that of course, but it starts right up again, although it is a little frightening when it happens. So I may need to take it to the dealer today. I also want to ask about replacing the Air Bag because I have one of the ones that have been found to be defective. I left a message for Jim, my salesperson, to call me. I think he was off yesterday. I will ask them to replace the windshield since there is a chip in it. Also I want to know if there is anything that can be done about the bubbling on the roof. So that is 4 items that need to be addressed.
So last night I went to Meditation. I really like that on Monday nights! My message last night was “What’s the rush?”. It suggested that I relax and take it easy. So I’m going to try to do that.
I was watching a video yesterday about a woman who was being interviewed by Joshua Becker from Uncluttered Life, and she had vowed not to buy anything for a year. Now that my bike is here and I have a cover coming for it, I’ll be set for all things camping! I’ve got to learn how to cook a few things in my Instant Pot – another way to cook without using the propane stove top. I realized I don’t like the “mess” of cooking. With this thing, you just dump everything in the pot and turn it on to cook it. I guess I’ll be eating a lot of stews, chili’s and pot roasts. But that is fine. It advertises that food is much healthier this way – mostly vegetables because the nutrients aren’t steamed or boiled out. Doing fish in it may be a little challenging. But I’m wondering if my little “lunchbox” oven would work for that. It is supposed to heat up to 300 degrees and that should cook fish ok – I only like salmon and the spiced up one from Aldi’s is what I like. I did cook some plain salmon with a little jerk spice on it the other day. I still have a little of that left. I think I’ll put that in my salad today at lunch. I ordered some flexible cutting boards that I saw on YouTube and I threw away all of my old ones yesterday in the trash. The wooden ones and the heavy plastic ones. So now I should be able to do some cooking experiments.
I figured out how to respond to people that send me messages from the blog. Tom from “Green Goddess Glamping” has commented a time or two. Instead of sending a response out from the comment from the website, I just send an email response to the email that is registered with the comment. I still get a lot of “trolls” at night. Mostly from foreign countries with very shady content. So I just move them to trash and delete them. I think when I’m on the road, it will be a way for me to “communicate” to friends and family.
So I was watching the commercial with Morgan Freeman regarding the Takata Airbags so I looked up my Jeep and guess what?:

So I’ll be calling the dealer today. I’d like to go to the Collier-Seminole State Park with Daisy today so hopefully that can happen. So last night Suzee and I were installing the bike rack and when we went inside, the generator would not turn on. It tried to start the first time I tried to start it, but didn’t fully engage. So I panicked a little and turned on the engine of the truck, but of course that has nothing to do with the “house batteries”. So we waited and then I was able to get it going. I think it may have been because I had left the Eva Dry things plugged in. So I brought them home to “recharge” them. Now I’m concerned that I didn’t run the generator long enough to recharge the batteries. There was a little red light on at the “trickle charger” inverter (not sure that is what it is called – but it is the thing that shows the Solar panel is charging). I guess it’s call the “gauge”. Anyway, once the generator turned on the red light disappeared, but we only ran the generator for about 15 minutes. I’ll go by later to see if all is well. I can at least drive Daisy home and plug her in. I think I’ll ride the bike over there today and try the bike rack out and bring Daisy home. If I can’t go camping, at least she’ll be at my house and I can sleep in her in the driveway. Time will tell.
So I rode the bike over to Daisy. It was interesting. There is a lot to get used to. First of all, I used my “keds” to ride her and they were too slick for the pedals. First lesson. Then I rode the bike across RSH and into Lely and turned on the road to the library. That will be a good destination on the bike – note to self! I rode down 951 and realized I couldn’t get over so I turned around and went back to the light by the hospital. So in order to prevent riding on 951 I went against traffic when it was clear to the entrance to the Naples RV Resort. A little dangerous, but if I’m careful, it should be OK. So I wanted to put the bike on the bike rack, but realized – fire ants back there – that there was no cross bar to lift up to the bike rack, so I’m afraid I’ll need to buy the one that Bob Wells has on the back of his van. The good news is that I have the cover for it now and will just need to wait to get that rack later. In the meantime, I’ll sell the bike rack I have and wait a while for the other one. So this is now where the bike is:

Not the most convenient, but not bad. I yanked her up the stairs, so once I get to the campground, I’ll take her out, put the claw on her and tie her up. I think she’ll be safe. I’d like to have her at the campground so I could practice with her. I had a problem with her not “stopping” because it was in “walk” mode and I couldn’t get it out of that mode so the back tire kept spinning and she practically climbed up the fence behind Daisy. So I took the key out of her and then took the battery out because they suggest when not in use, to do that. It’s a good idea! Anyway, before I let Suzee ride on her, I need to learn a little bit more about her. I don’t want her to wreck. I also want to check the tire pressure. I think it is low. But it may be fine and the squeeking is because of the new tires. It is fun to drive. I’ve only gone about 12 mph which is fine for now. I’m not in any rush to go fast.
I’m going to cut this now. I’m going to get ready to go camping overnight. I need to pick up some easy food for dinner and breakfast. I might try to do an egg thing in Daisy’s microwave. I have a salad for lunch and I think I’ll get a roll up for dinner. Then I just need a few snacks.
