So today is Wednesday, September 25, 2019. I woke up at home this morning and I was supposed to be at Collier-Seminole State Park instead. Well, had my first “camping fail”! Luckily, I was only 20 minutes away from home when it happened. I got to the park around 1 PM and went in to see my campsite. Well, as luck seems to happen at C-SSP, right next to my site was a camper in a tent. Stuff all over the place drying out. So I decided to go back to the ranger station and change sites. Afterall, there were 4 people in the park and so why be right next to another camper. So from 93 (the tent was in 94), I moved to site 74. It was on the other side of the road and just down the road, pretty near the bath house. Let me see if I can get a layout of the camp sites:

I pulled in to the site and plugged in. I used my surge protector and it was hooked up fine. Then I plugged in my electrical cord, but it didn’t turn on in Daisy. So I thought (of course) that the electrical panel must have shorted out. So AGAIN, I drive to the ranger station and report the issue. She makes a call to a ranger and John meets me at the site. So the surge protector still showed good electrical, but the power cord caused it to shut off. Apparently, the cord had a bad component. John showed me the “burn” mark around the peg. So, that was it. I was done. Plus the mosquitoes were pretty bad in the middle of the day, so I can’t imagine what they would have been like in the evening. No camping for me without A/C so I went back home but thought I could get a power cord at Walmart. That wasn’t quite true – nothing at Walmart – but Daisy had her first visit to Walmart:

So I contacted Bill and he sent me a link to a more sophisticated surge protector and also I bought a new power cord on AMAZON. So I guess I’ll stop spending TOMORROW! But this does qualify as a “necessary” purchase!
So yesterday I tried my lectric bike. It is very interesting. First of all it is pretty heavy for me and really well made. I rode her to Daisy from home, which was pretty good. I cut through Lely and the college so there wouldn’t be too much traffic. After figuring out how to cut through at the hospital on the sidewalk into the RV Resort, I now have my route down, so I can safely get across 951. That is HUGE! 951 is so bad! Not so bad in a car, but awful for bikes! Anyway, I determined something. First, it won’t go up on my bike rack, so the one I have is useless. I’ll probably sell it and buy the kind that Bob Wells has. It fits the tire in to a metal hole and then I just need to lift it up from the back into the other hole. I just looked back at yesterday’s blog and realize this is a bit of a repeat. I didn’t remember that I talked about the bike climbing up the fence and fitting it in Daisy.
So when I got home from my “camping fail”, I decided to ride the bike home and pick up the Jeep to clear out the coolers and other stuff I had for camping (bag full of electronics etc). While it was in Daisy, the pedal got stuck in a position that made it very difficult to unfold the bike. I actually, scraped up the paint by the key hole. I needed the rubber hammer to knock it out of the spot. So another lesson learned. Be careful with the position of the pedals when folded. I also need a rearview mirror on the handlebars. I may ride it to the bike shop at Publix although I don’t like that guy very much. Maybe I’ll ride it a little further to the one on 41 although I don’t like the location of that shop. Hard to drive in there and I don’t really want to ride on 41 if I can help it. Another thing about the bike I need to learn is how to turn off the “walk” position. I’m not sure what that is for, but to give it momentum when crossing a road I guess. When I push the mode for too long, it turns on the lights. Then I can’t figure out how to turn that off unless I reset the mode. So I guess I’ll study the manual a little more before I ask the question on the Lectric Bike website.
I think I’ll go eat breakfast out on the lanai! It is beautiful again this morning. Only 70 degrees!!! I have the chairs lined up to wash. They are pretty grungy but by the time I get through with my 9:30 meeting and then meeting with Nikki, it will be too hot. But we’ll see. I need to pick up checks from the PO Box so I can do my treasurer report for District 20 tomorrow night. So my day is pretty well laid out. I need to stop by Daisy to see if the A/C will work today. I’ll be so happy if it turns on. Otherwise, I’ll need to find a mobile RV tech to figure it out. So I’ll be back. Found a mobile RV Tech – Tom’s. Good reviews so I’ll call him if needed.
So Nanette Dion has done the design for our Christmas CD and this is what she did:

I love it! I hope Jim is pleased with it! I’ll find out on Friday when we have our meeting. Then we can start advertising it on FB! I wonder when the CD’s will be ready? Maybe I’ll find that out on Friday also. I think I’ll go for a bike ride tonight when the sun goes down a little more. It’s still hot out and I don’t want to sweat up a bunch before dinner. I think I’ll ride over to Lely. I guess that’s it for today. Thanks for visiting. See you next time.
