Happy New Year! It is the first day of 2020 and it is going to be a fantastic year! All fresh and new! Like today – I’m camping at Kartchner Caverns State Park in Benson, AZ. It is the first time I’ve “struck out” on my own since getting to Arizona. I am in a beautiful State Park campground – site 3. It’s a pull through site which makes it really nice. I took a video from inside Daisy yesterday, let’s go see if it finally uploaded last night!

It hasn’t uploaded yet so I’m trying again. Yesterday my MiFi wasn’t working very well, but it seems to be working today. The sun is coming up and now I can see out the windows. I’ll open them all up again so I can enjoy the views!
I love the way the sites are set up in this park. I can look out both of my windows and I only see trees. I have neighbors in both sites beside me, but their rigs are out of my vision. LOVE THAT!!!!!
My plan is to go on the hike this morning that is led by a Ranger – his name is Harley! Anyway, it starts at 9AM and I’m going to try to do this blog and make it to that hike. If that doesn’t work, there will be another one at 1PM.
I got here a little early – around noon, but couldn’t get to my site until 1 or so, so I parked at the end of the road for a while. I thought it was a little loosy goosy, they didn’t give me anything for my rig and just trusted that I was who was supposed to be in the site. So I went back to the Discovery Center and spent time in the museum and around the garden. I didn’t see any of this when B & C and I were here on my birthday:

There is a movie that they show here talking about the discovery of the caverns back in the 60’s and how it took a number of years before it was known that they existed. The two men who discovered them, wanted to be sure that they would be preserved. I want to go see the movie again today so I get more out of it. I really love this little State Park.

This was the first display I saw yesterday. The sign says that it wasn’t run by gasoline, but instead ran with air and water. Very interesting. Here is another tool used to create the Caverns:

Here is a picture of my campsite:

This is the first time I’ve set out my rug and chairs since I got to Arizona. It has been too cold! Plus in CT RV it isn’t like camping. I’m just “parked” which is great, but this is so much better. Plus the sun yesterday, was pretty warm as the afternoon arrived. I’ve found that it takes until about 3PM for the temperatures to peek and then as soon as the sun goes down, the temperature drops about 20 degrees. So different from Florida where the temperature varies about 10 degrees everyday and gets hot at 9AM and stays hot until about 9PM – but I’m always in the house by then anyway!

I’m still trying to download my video from yesterday – it’s at 81%. I have 2 cats on my lap. I want to get up to get some more coffee and time’s a wasting if I want to get to that hike this morning. So we’ll see if it happens. I always have the 1PM hike which is an easier one anyway. We’ll see!
This was my view of the mountains this morning as the sun was hitting them: The MiFi is not working very well right now. I’ll be back once the video uploads. I’ll be baaaaaack!
So this morning I didn’t get out for the 9AM hike so I’ll go on the 1PM hike instead. I went to the heated bathhouse and took a nice hot shower. It was great! I’ll probably take another one tomorrow! I’m going to go for a little hike right now after I dry my hair. Have a great day and thanks for visiting!
Happy New Year may it be the best one yet! 2020!
