Good Morning Saturday, November 22, 2014

Hello Everyone,

I’m back today after skipping a day.  Don’t really know why I skipped yesterday, but I did.  Anyway, this weekend I’m not committed to do any extra curricular activity so I am open to all things.  Wylie is still my 4AM alarm clock.  I’m hoping she’ll slowly move up to 5AM as time goes on.  But I did get to go back to bed and slept until 6:15 today.  That was pretty good!  It’s warmer and more humid this morning – 70 degrees – 20 degrees warmer than…..

Still am amazed that this worked by way of Siri.  So funny!  But I guess that I can take shots of messages too that might come in handy at some point.

Just got a lengthy email from Jona by way of Peggy E regarding Sister’s By The Sea.  They are looking for a secretary for the committee.  I immediately thought about taking that on.  It would keep me occupied with service work over the next few months and I’ve been wanting to get more involved with that conference.  I’ll pray a little about it and see if I’m still being told to “commit”.  At least I’ll be on the committee this year and go to the meetings.  The conference is in August – the 28th to 30th.  It would be after Atlanta in July, so that should be ok and I will always have enough PTO time to take off that Friday and Monday.  Besides, I need something to do now that I won’t be doing the Gratitude Dinner next year and I’ll need something to blog about.  They had been meeting at the Intergroup office so that will probably change.  Depending on where they find to meet that might be an issue.  They meet on Thursday evenings and that displaced my Grapevine Meeting during June and July this year.  I’m sure I’ll be directed some way in all of this.

My next project is coming up at Church.  We are beginning our Stewardship Season and I’ve committed to speak up on Sunday, December 7th.  I’m trying to figure out what I am going to say so yesterday I “Googled” Bible passages on tithing.  I got a lot of things so I’ll probably talk about a couple of those and my connection to computers and blogs and calendars and email and other addictions – not to mention all of the technology junk I love.  I met Michael many years ago when he was in a band with his brother and they were playing around town.  Beirne and I hired them for a party we had at our house in Aqualane Shores many years ago – long before he got his “calling”.  He’s been involved in many things prior to being our Pastor.  If you know me, you know I “HATE” speaking in front of people – I avoid speaking at meetings as much as I can but I believe in our little church and would like to see it survive even though I have my moments of doubt.  For me, it’s about the people and knowing everyone like a “family”.  But thinking back, I’ve been “called” to this church for about 9 years – 5 years with the old building and 4 years as “nomads”.  It started out with Bruce Frogge and the process of deciding we were “Fearlessly Loving, Boldly Seeking, and Fundamentally Inclusive”.  We had a committee to find our “Mission & Vision”.  Most of the people on that committee have left and are no longer involved but we still use the same thinking and branding.  In my heart, I love our church because I know that if I needed anything, they would be there for me.  I feel the same way about my friends in AA – the ones I trust and love, so I’m lucky I have two groups of support for me.  It’s important and worthy of time, talent and “treasures”.

The spring on my garage door is broken.  It broke two days ago and I’ve had to park Rose out in the driveway the last two nights.  The guy can’t come to fix it until Monday but fortunately he will be here at 6:30AM on Monday and will fix it so I can get to work on time.  At least that is the plan at this moment.  I can’t open the door which surprises me because at my old place when things like that happened, I could open the door manually.  This door however doesn’t budge.  I think the opener would open the door because I got it to close, but I wouldn’t want to have to replace that also.  So Red is stuck in the garage this weekend and I won’t be able to get out on her.  Rose is my mode of transportation all weekend.  But maybe after church tomorrow I’ll go to the “Jim”.  Or maybe I’ll make it to the Brown Bag after church if I get out in time.

Well time to get going on my “weekend chores”.  Laundry is in, bed is changed and grocery shopping will be done shortly.  The kids are here…..

On my porch!

On my porch!

Have a beautiful weekend.

Facebook may be full of trivia and some BS… but when I began BLOGGING I was surprised to find that my blog posts (content) was HONEST! Who, ME? Honest? Well, yeahhh!

I did wonder about those “friends” with whom I blogged. So one summer I rode Flex up the east coast visiting bloggers I “knew”. All the way to Charlottesville, VA I discovered that EVERY ONE of them was just as I had imagined. Honest, friendly, and JUST as I “saw” them before meeting f2f…..

Guessing now that my point is, what one writes in a blog
(weB-LOG) is a story of their life, and more honest words than even in many f-2-f conversations…and reading your blog today Mary,I can see, that the saying is true–“If you want to really know me…read my blog!”

And YOUR stories about the past, how things and people in your life are connected is really a piece-by-piece treatise of your LIFE. (A diary, but not quite. A bio, no. Just random thoughts, but honest ones, truth as it is at this moment. How wonderful it is!

So your “church’s history”, your own activities there, our program for living (AA) and home life (garage door! Family of CATS! etc.) ongoing also, present a very interesting look into another’s heart and soul–to be more exact.

And I am glad to have found this blog. Thank you. NOTE: My more lengthy blogs I named BLONG (long blog!). I’ve got to get to a meeting now–but you got my drift.

I think it is really interesting that you went to visit your Blog Visitors even though you didn’t know them. Anyway – it was pretty brave of you. I know you went on FLEX which was even more brave to me. I’ll not be doing that in my life time, but I do visit my visitor (you) on Red, so I guess it’s the same thing really!
