Hello World,
I learned yesterday that Intergroup has a new home. It will move up to a space at the 24 Hour Club which is being redecorated for them. I think it is a great idea. Change is hard. I think Bill will be happy up there once he gets settled in. The other thing that will be good, is that it is right around the corner from my work and I can go by there after work. I think as my friend Steve has suggested, it will be a way to get the “word” out about Intergroup to people who may not support Intergroup and it may educate them about it. I think we are all in this together and should be able to “Live and Let Live” like we talked about at the Brown Bag yesterday when reading from “Living Sober”. I am finding myself reading a lot of my AA literature on my weekends. I have never really been an “avid” reader like my friend Heidi who reads 2 or 3 books a week, blogs on them, and works in a library. Now that is a “READER”! I find that when I read, I have a tendency to “drift off” – either by thinking of other things or just falling asleep. So when I read AA Literature, they are usually stories that are short so I can read a little at a time. If I start a novel, it is hard for me to keep at it. I put it down and then when I pick it up again, I forget what had happened and it’s like starting all over again. Maybe when I’m not working any longer, I’ll find that I’ll like reading novels better and will get more from them. I think I mentioned once before in this blog that I had a teacher in about the 4th grade that told my mother I was a poor reader. When I think of my childhood, I don’t think I ever saw my parents read a book. They both were college educated, but they weren’t readers. I don’t think my brothers are either. But that may have changed now that they are both retired. I remember as a kid, those friends that read a lot. There were those that picked up a book and kept reading no matter what. Think of all of the people who read series of books like “Harry Potter!”. I remember reading book series as a kid like “Nancy Drew” – child detective. Then there was all the reading that had to be done in school like “Catcher in the Rye”, “Chaucer”, Shakespeare. But studying a book is different than just reading for pleasure. I think I may start thinking about going to a “book club” some time. But I get that at The Naples Group on Saturday nights. Well anyway, all this about reading when I started out talking about the move for Intergroup. Jeesh!
Also yesterday, Rad (Rhett – never know what his name really is) mentioned he spoke with John Remington about The Brown Bag. He said that they have an extra month to stay where they are – through January. Plus he said that it is a possibility that they can use the other building for their meetings – the one across the parking lot that used to house the church office for the “Celebration” church that meets at Cambier Park on Sundays. So things are falling into place. As we know if we just “Trust God” he will provide.
Today I think I’ll go to The Greenway again and give it another try. This time when I get down to the end of the board walk, I’ll go to the left and see how far it goes. Someone posted a picture of a bridge on FB that looked like it was a “promo” picture from the City. I’m hoping that it will take me all the way to Tin City. Moorings Park owns some property in that area. It is near the Zoo and is zoned for a retirement community. The one that owned it before, pulled out when the economy tanked and I think MP bought it at a good price, not knowing what the plan was, but they are always thinking 10 years out. I remember working on a 10 year plan, 10 years ago so now there is another one in place.
Well, time to get rolling. I have some ironing to do – I know TMI – but I wanted to put up a picture today so here it is…..
This is Grace Lord. She is one of the “patriarchs” of our church. She had been married to a Pastor. Can you imagine that “Pastor Lord”. Anyway she’s in her nineties and still driving although not as much as she used to. She goes on cruises all of the time – she loves cruising. She is hard of hearing but always has a “joke of the day” to tell. She is one of the reasons I love my church. She reminds me of the cartoon character you see of the woman that always has some sarcastic remark about something – I forget her name, so I’ll Google it……..”Maxine”! Got to love Google!
Have a great day today!

Inevitable changes occurring in Intergroup office, one group–Brown Bag–and a few of the monthly committee meetings, formerly held at Intergroup Office. It is really a “Ho-Hummm” affair, EXCEPT it came without warning–and suddenly. What surprises me is how easily the members and Bill are handling the move. Also I find the cooperation between the Twenty-Four Hour Club of Naples AND Intergroup rather amazing, though it’s certainly not an “unheard-of” arrangement in districts worldwide.
Thanks for reporting this event(s) here, Mary. (Better than the minute-by-minute “minutes”)
Lady named Grace Lord, still driving in her nineties? I hope I have the sense to STOP driving on 90th birthday…or maybe 95th???? But that CERTAINLY doesn’t mean stop riding Flex III

You might want to rethink ride Flex at 95….just sayin’! I think moving up the the 24 Hour Club is a “Grape” idea. I may start going there more often now to get to know some people. I may start on Thanksgiving when I’ve feasted on the Turkey and Stuffing from Russell!

Your “time off” will be spent in GRAPE style, and happy goodness, Mary…I KNOW it.
24-Hour Club–where I “cut my AA teeth” in SO many embarrassing ways (sigh)
Since I am alone this weekend, I’ll drop in to 24-Hour to spend a few grape moments. AND Don and Dixie Stevens*** invited me to their Thanksgiving Dinner. Then at 3 PM I’ve been asked (LOVE it) to lead a Big Book meeting at Hazelden. What a beautiful day–it will be a chilly one. Then a “cookie” meeting. I don’t even have to THINK about Thursday–just LIVE it! How GOOD is that? 🙂

Still waiting to hear back about the official “goings on” at the 24 Hour Club. Have you seen a flyer there about anything?
