ROAD TRIP PICACHO PEAK STATE PARK
I took a spur of the moment trip to Picacho Peak State Park today. It’s Sunday, February 9, 2020. I had planned to go to church this morning and got there a little before 11AM and discovered that the service starts at 10AM. So I missed church today, but I like that the service is at 10AM and will get there next Sunday instead. So I decided to take a little road trip. By the way, my JEEP has been awesome since arriving out here in Arizona. No problems! I did get a light showing a tire was low but I checked them all and the pressure was right on 35 lbs. The light stayed on for a few days, but today, after driving on the highway for a couple of hours, the light went out so I don’t think there is an issue with that either. I’ll keep a eye on it. But that is SUCH GOOD NEWS! Right everyone????
So here are a couple of pictures from today:

This was an exit right off the highway straight into the State Park. SO EASY!!!!! But leaving wasn’t as easy and I turned on the “frontage” road and had to turn around to get back on the highway. Lesson learned! Pissed me off though! Thank goodness for GPS!!!!

I can’t believe I got a parking place right at the trail head:
I’m glad I just decided to take a picnic lunch with me today and that I didn’t try to hike. I’ll need to go camping there instead. I will take my bike with me so I can ride to the Trail Head or if I get my JEEP fixed up so I can tow it, I’ll take it with me. Not so sure about that yet. Anyway, it would be too tiring to drive there, hike and then drive back to Benson so I’ll want to go camping there instead. I’ll have to go on line and try to make a reservation. Right now it’s the busiest time. The campground is pretty rustic, but nice. Looks like they have nice bath houses which always is nice. The Welcome Station is great. I picked up my third BADGE – I feel like a girl scout again!

I am sticking them on my fridge with the Command strips so I can remove them if I sell Daisy. In the meantime, they look great there!
So there are 4 stickers and 3 patches. The first square sticker to the far right came with Daisy. It says: “The Mountains are Calling and I must Go” from Yellowstone National Park. I thought that was appropriate when I got Daisy so I left it on. The next one to it is a sticker that says: “Dirtiness is next to Earthliness” by Carolyn’s RV Life. Then I have a sticker from Saguaro National Park. The next one is from Kartchner. Then starts the patches: Tombstone, Kartchner Caverns and finally Picacho Peak State Park. I love this life!
Just had a great conversation with a woman who is “soloing” in a Class A and is staying at the Encore RV Park just down the road. I connected with her on RVillage. We were going to “meet up” but she may be leaving because she is having trouble with her toilet and may need to leave tomorrow, but if that doesn’t happen we’ll probably get together. Very interesting woman. She’s been on the road for 3 years. So she can help me a lot. She is trying to convince me to get a “Thousand Trails” membership. I may do that and she can walk me through it. So we’ll see. It was great speaking with her.
Time for dinner! Thanks for visiting. It’s been a great day!

Great to hear Otis is hanging in there with no problems. How nice to meet another solo soul seeker! You can learn the dos and donts from her travels right? That peak looks like an easy hike MB. You’ll have real mts in Colorado to hike so keep on keepin on sista!😉
