Ms. Days Ease RV Life #95

Happy Valentine’s Day Everyone! I hope you are having a wonderful celebration. I just got back from “dry camping”. So the difference between “dry camping” and “boondocking” is that there are specific camping sites with picnic tables and fire rings and sometimes water, but no electric hook ups or dump stations. At this campground, there was a toilet – no plumbing, just a pit and trash containers and a “camp host”. So Bill and Cathy like to find places off the beaten path so it’s quiet with few neighbors. We traveled there on Wednesday together and then our friend Rich met us later in the afternoon after he went “Jeeping”. So there were 3 of us in our rigs. This is how we were parked:

Leveled Daisy

Bill helped me with the “leveling” of Daisy. (The yellow blocks under my tires). I never had to do that before and come to find out, these worked, but there are better and easier ones to use. It’s important to be level, because the refrigerator won’t work if it isn’t level. That is why it is easier to camp in full hook up RV places. I was lucky this time, because my levelers worked.

Here is Bill & Cathy’s site:

Back Door to B & C

Bill & Cathy were across the street from where I was and they were the “gathering area”.  We all went over to their site for the fire ring and to cook.  Here is the picture of our “dueling grills”.

Cathy is cooking at their “cook stove”.  Rich’s grill is in the middle – he cooked chicken, and mine is at the other end.  I cooked steak.  It was so much fun.  You can see the fire ring in the back ground.  That was Bill’s duty – make the fire GREAT and he did.  We really needed the fire at night it got so cold.  Here is his wonderful work!  Boy was that a necessity for those COLD nights.  I had on 5 layers!  It was in the 30’s and 40’s.  The first night was the worst.

I’ll try to get the icon for this, but this is the fire:  (not sure how I got this to work)!!!!!

So we went on a hike on Thursday around the lake.  I thought “easy peasy”!  Just around the lake – that should be easy.  Well, not really!  This was the final tally:

It took us about 3 hours and it was 6.18 miles.  I used a walking stick I borrowed from B & C.  Glad I had it – it came in handy.  I fell (stumbled) 3 times and I got a blister on the top of my big left toe.  I thought I’d be stiff and not be able to move today, but I feel fine.  No problems.  That was the longest hike I’d ever been on.  It was so worth it:

Another view:

It was such a beautiful day for the hike.  The weather was PERFECT.  I first took off my flannel shirt along the way, but kept my sweatshirt on and sun hat.  But I got sun on my face I just noticed anyway.

Cathy, Rich and I were on a bench and Bill took a break on the ground.  I was fixing my socks and shoes.  I got a blister on my toe and I learned that I should wear silk socks and also another pair.  My boots aren’t the best for hiking, come to find out.  So B & C and I will go “shopping” in Tucson while Otis2 gets his hitch put on for towing.

This is Rich’s Rig:

He was next to Bill & Cathy’s and across the street from me.  They were big campsites.  We could hardly see one another.  It was SO COOL!  I really liked this place and I think I could find it again.  It’s first come first served, so during the week is the best time to come.  The weekends get busy because of the “locals”.  All you do is put $$ in an envelope to pay for the site, once you are settled.

Because I have the “senior pass” it only cost $10 a night.  Otherwise it would have been $20 a night.  Such a deal!

There was room around us.  We did meet a nice guy and his dog nearby.  His name was Mark and he was soloing from Maine.  He had a cool dog – like a yellow lab.  She was sweet and well behaved.

Here is another picture of Daisy at her site:

You can see my picnic table – concrete – and stairs down to it from my rig. If you look to the right, you can see B & C across the street from me. That is how far away from one another we were. It was really great.

Going to leave you with this now – of course a picture of my Wylie: She was pretty darn cold and liked this place to sit:

Thanks for visiting! See you next time! Loving this life!

Beautiful.. Are there fish in that lake? How deep is it? You probably need a good pair of hiking boots. Blisters are a no, no. Ralph W. has a sponsee who does web sites. Here we go again. I’m not in any hurry. Wendy found lots of inexpensive silver AA drunk junk.
