Good Morning everyone,
Today is Friday, March 20, 2020. It is the first day of my “great adventure” back to my new life in Arizona. I thought that maybe I would just stay here in Naples – in the driveway of Suzan and Bette, but ultimately decided that I could do this trip – One Day At A Time – ODAAT!!!!! So far I’ve rearranged my State Park stays in Florida and Georgia to RV Parks instead. I have 2 State Parks in Louisiana and one in Texas (for 2 days) that I have reservations for and so far they are still open. I’ve been getting information out of RVillage people and I have a link to the updates from Campendium that is updated constantly. So I’ll just “play it by ear” and keep on top of it each day as I travel.
I’m all “watered” up and charged up for the trip. I have put the cooler on the back bumper bungeed to the ladder and I hope it will ride safely there. Each time I stop I’ll double check that it is riding well. There is plenty of room on the bumper for it. I’ll get a picture of the rigging when the sun comes out. Plus I want to get a picture of Daisy in the driveway from the road before I take off!
It’s been wonderful staying with Suzan and Bette. They are so supportive and knowledgeable on camping and RVing. They lived in various RV’s for a bunch of years – lots of advice and support. We’re also going to keep in touch each day as this trip continues. I’ve been hearing that during this pandemic (and really all of the time) that it is important to have a support group that you contact each day. It was from the YouTube Live from CheapRVliving that I posted yesterday.
Last night we celebrated with homemade (moistly) cake and ice cream Dixie Cups.

We also had a “real” sandwich with Pumpernickel bread from Walmart and it was as good as any Pumpernickel bread I’ve ever had. The crust was chewy – LOVE THAT! Corn on the cob that I cut off the cob and then CAKE! The night before we had a super duper meatloaf with peas and baked russet potato. YUMMY!! CAKE too! (no ice cream). Thank you Suzan for being the Chief Cook and Bette for being the Bottle Washer. I just sat and did nothing like the Princess I am – my friends will know!
SO this is SADIE:

Sadie is a Black Mouth Cur (Suzan help me out with this) Hound. She is the prettiest little girl dog ever. She has huge long claws that allow her to climb trees after raccoons. She chases anything that moves and is very “insecure” so when a new person is introduced (me) she clings on and never leaves me alone when I’m over there. I love her so much but my skin can’t take the abuse so I wear long sleeves and long pants for protection. She is just being loving and can’t help that she has daggers at the ends of her toes! She is also very friendly and barks whenever anyone or anything passes by. Difficult in campgrounds! She is only 3 so will probably mellow out (we can only hope) as time goes on. They are lucky to have her and vice versa!
So yesterday this happened:
I was obsessing (imagine that!) over the fact that my quilt hung down over the storage doors under the couch. I pinned it first with straight pins – that didn’t work. Then I tried to sew it to the bottom of the couch – that didn’t work and finally I used big safety pins to pin it. Nothing worked and it hung down and “drove me crazy”. So enter Suzan. She had this beautiful, happy cloth that they had used in their camper and we tucked it in to cover the bottom of the couch. Then we folded the quilt so that the “STARS” would shine and put it over the back of the couch. Now I have no messy “hangovers”! Thank you SUZAN you relieved my anxiety and now I’ll think of you both when I hang out on the couch and just be in Daisy!
Just went to the Campendium link for closures and discovered this:
So I wonder if Bill and Cathy won’t need to leave so early (April 6 at the moment). There is good communication between YNP and them, so they probably do know, but I’ll text them later – 3 hours earlier out there now – to find out.
Whirlygig rehomed! Love their wild garden! So relaxing!
Map installed in Daisy under the stove. After tomorrow night, I can scratch off Georgia! Love this. Thank you Bette for installing it for me!
This is what Driveway Surfing looks like! It was just a DREAM! Thank you Bette & Suzan for your hospitality!
We all had breakfast together in Daisy and I heard the story of Big Bertha – what an adventure!
And I was there too………….
Now I’m going to close so I can go through the check list and hit the head one more time before I leave. I’ll be baaaaaaack!
I have now plugged in for the night at Silver Springs RV Park. I’m on a pull through – they are all pull through sites. Mine is right by the bath house so I’m going to take advantage of the shower in the morning. My shower in Daisy is too full of “stuff” so this will be convenient. I had forgotten to take the battery out of the bike so now that is done.
My trip here was nice and easy. I stopped after 3 hours which I found was a bit long. The first rest area was closed because of construction – not the Coronovirus, but because of that, I believe, the next one was packed! I’ve never seen so many RV’s at a rest stop. I took a video of it when I was walking around. Here it is:
So the guy next to me in the pop up must have needed to get some groceries or something, because his car was gone when I got back to Daisy:
So now I am at Silver Springs RV Park. It’s a mix of full timers and transients like me. It would be a great place to be if the State Parks were open because they are within walking distance. It’s nice – I’m right next to the showers so I’m going to take advantage of that in the morning. I have too much stuff in my shower to move out, so I’ll be doing that on the trip out.
I can definitely do my Social Distancing here. That’s pretty easy! Plus I’m washing my hands and doing what I can to keep away from people. So really this trip is kind of a God Send because you don’t have time to get to know anyone when you just pull in for the afternoon and evening and take off in the morning. Oh and also speaking of taking off in the morning, I left on the DOT of 9AM! Amazing how that worked – thanks Suzan and Bette for breakfast and giggles this morning. It was such a great send off!
So I have a cooler I needed to pack my food in while Daisy’s refrigerator got cold and I have put some drawers up over the cab for storage and now there is no room for the cooler up there any more so Bette helped me – she mostly did it but here is the cooler now:
It seems to be riding just fine! So that’s it for today. Thanks for visiting. Come back soon – not sure if I’ll do this everyday, but I will have time to do it, I guess it just depends on the pictures I take along the way.
