Ms. Days Ease RV Life #111

Good Morning Everyone! It is SUNDAY, March 22, 2020. It is 62 degrees and clear here in Bainbridge, GA. I like this little place. The drive to Bainbridge took me through little towns and nice fields and meadows. It was a nice change from the highway, but the highway wasn’t even any stress yesterday. So I was able to do this:

Scratch Off Georgia

I got to scratch off Georgia yesterday.  Now stopping in Alabama will be something to explore.  I am also looking at how close I can get to California once I’m in Arizona, so that will be a fun time!  I want to go to Joshua Tree National Park as one of my stops in California!

There is a Boondockers Welcome host in La Mesa, NM which is close to Las Cruces.  I’m thinking about going there rather than to the KOA where I have reservations.  I’ll keep thinking about it.  Boondockers Welcome is a group like Harvest Hosts that allows people to stay the night for “free”.  In this case, the place is called El Rancho Saguaro.  The reviews are recent and good.  It would be an adventure which is why I’m doing this in the first place.  I’ll have to map it to see how far my drive would be to Benson from there.  That may be a deal breaker, but I’m not sure.  Time will tell.  I’ll keep you posted.

I’ve started listening to SiriusXM on my iPad.  I just got a special sign up for free and cost of $5 a month for a while.  Now I’ll have the SiriusXM on my Jeep when I get back to Benson.  In Daisy, the iPad works well.  I don’t have it on while driving, but when I’m just in Daisy and blogging it’s a nice perk.  I’m getting used to Coffee House Station.  It is music by new and young artists I’ve never heard of, but it is interesting to listen to.

OOPS!  Just saw a headline that Florida is considered an “epicenter” for the CV – over 1M cases within 5 days!  (I’ve subsequently learned that is an exaggeration! – There are only 15,219 cases in the US according to the CDC)  Guess I’m glad to be out of Florida, but I do need to travel through the Panhandle this morning.  I won’t need to stop though for gas until I get to Louisiana or maybe this will be a 2 stop day.  We’ll see.  I need to trace my route now.  I’ll be back.  Google maps takes me one way, but GiGi (my GPS) has me going a little differently.  So I’ll get there.  It may be a 7 hour day.  But I have 2 days in Fontainebleau to “recover”.   Ended up being 6 hours.  8:30 AM to 2:30 PM.  Time has changed now.

I’ve just finished the series “Virgin River” on Netflix.  I was hoping there was another episode, but they say there will be another season.  I really liked it.  I am lucky to have my iPad.  Netflix is great on it and I should be able to get the Amazon Prime movies too.  As Bill Strenkert suggested – watch movies – forget the news!

The sun is coming up now and it looks like a nice day here.  It’s a little early to leave, but I might get started so the sooner I’m on the road, the sooner I get to Louisiana.  So off I go to get going on the check list.  I’ll be back later to continue.

Had to add this picture of Metaxa sleeping upstairs.  I think she gets stressed out “on the road” and likes to sleep once we are settled.  I have a little bed for her in the passenger seat and one day maybe she’ll use it.  We can only hope.

The trip today was nice and easy again.  At my first stop at a rest stop there was security:

Kinda weird, but interesting – the security guard at a rest stop.  No one was talking to anyone at these stops.  I just walked around for a little exercise.

Interesting things that happened today – I went through 5 states today.  Georgia, Florida, Alabama, Mississippi & Louisiana!  That was pretty cool.  Also as I was driving back roads to I 10 from Flint River RV Park, I saw a LIVE male Peacock on the side of the road.  It flew off into a meadow.  Wonder if it escaped from a farm somewhere.  It was really odd to see that.

So my original site was a pull through at Site #22.  First time around I missed the number because it was missing so I had to return back to it.  Then the surge protector would not fit in because the 30AMP plug was upside down and the surge protector would fall out of the plug because it was upside down & too heavy.  So they changed me to this site – #8.  I’m in the site backward, but it was the only way I could get it level without using leveling blocks and my plug in is on the driver’s side.  So I got plugged in fine and the A/C is chilling us out so all is well.  Well that’s about it for today.

Oh one more thing, I got my printer to work in Daisy.  I wanted to print an updated itinerary and that happened!  YES!  That makes me very happy.  Now I just need to find the clipboard with the old information on it and switch it out and I can’t find that right now.  Doesn’t make much sense because Daisy isn’t that big!  Found it!  Now all is right in the world.  See you tomorrow!

So glad you took my advice about movies. Brown Bag had 9 show up.. Great meeting. Church is closed so we were the only live ones there. Isnt it great that Trinity lets us use their beautiful facility. Having family over for dinner outside. Love Florida. We’re staying 6 feet away.
