Good Morning Saturday, December 6, 2014

Hello World,

Well today is Polly’s birthday – she is 48 – a baby!  John is giving her a “surprise” party – SHHHHHH!!  Steve – don’t say anything!  Anyway it’s at noon on Isles of Capri.  I don’t know where exactly, but I’ll Google it.  I will probably ride Red down there.  That would be a good ride if the weather is cooperative.  I’ll need to check that, too.

For the last couple of days – starting on Thursday afternoon, I had a little light pop up on my dashboard.  I looked it up in the book and it said it had something to do with the ABS system – brakes or something.  Anyway, it went away so I kept driving the car yesterday.  All of a sudden on Santa Barbara Blvd, it hesitated and shook a little and then the light came back on.  It was about 2PM or so.  I had “frozen cookies” in my car so I took them home and went to the dealer.  Fortunately I had my Kindle with me because I didn’t get out of there until 5:30.  Car is not fixed.  It has something to do with the location device that tells the car where it is on the road and then is connected somehow to the air bags and on and on.  Something major.  So they called the extended warranty people and couldn’t get a definitive answer about coverage while I was there, so they sent me home and said they would follow up on it for me.  It’s a $1,500 job.  Poor little Rose – she’s getting a lot wrong with her lately.  I may need to trade her in after all and get a new model.  I don’t think she is worth much – she is 10 years old.  I just don’t know how I’ll go about paying for a new car.  I guess I’ll have to have that conversation with my financial guy John Beane and then decide what to do.  Even if it is covered – and the guy said it “should be”, I don’t know about doing an extended warranty again on her.  Those things are expensive too and they want the whole amount up front.  So I’ll just figure it out when I hear back from those guys at VW.

So yesterday I started my Christmas decorations.  I got my lights up and my wreaths around my garage lights.  I walked around the neighborhood this morning before it got light and I didn’t see too many decorations yet.  I know there will be more, but here is what my garage looks like:

I learned how to put my pictures “side by side” yesterday when I saw Michael at the FCC office for my little “tutorial” session about Word Press.  I tried to start by putting the “table” in the center and then adding the pictures, but that didn’t work.  I’ll keep trying to get this right.  I kept “trying” things as Bob would say – he’d be PROUD!  Anyway, I’ll live with them over to the left and side by side with out trying to get them centered.  This looks better than the way I had it before.

Michael and I also added an “archive” page for the Couriers on the IG Website.  There was an “indication” on the site that there was an “archive” page, but when you clicked it, it didn’t work so there wasn’t a working page on the site.  He helped me add a page.  I don’t know if I could do it on my own again.  I asked him if he knew of any classes I could take to learn some of this stuff and fill in the “gaps” in my knowledge.  He wasn’t sure about that and said I could just “Google” most questions about that.  But I’ve signed up for a Word Press tutorial that I’m paying $9 a month for and I haven’t been working with it.  So I might try to do that.  Or at least cancel that and try the “Google U”.

Now I’m going to get going and see how my day goes.  I’m doing my laundry now and I’m going to finish putting my Christmas Lights on my little front porch.  No one really sees them except my neighbors Chris and Claudia.  I need to repeat their names so I remember them.  But I like the way it looks at night so I suppose that is all that matters.  Bill and Cathy will see it too next week.

    Late with comment–been B U S Y day. Topic: BRAKES!
My deaf-blind father said many time I recall, “Most important items on truck or car (other than driver!) are TIRES and BRAKES. If not maintained, they can kill you. Fortunately Mary, you are on top of those things. Lots of people procrastinate until their car won’t stop.

Maybe you are tired of the color yellow…but it is the safest color (fact) for vehicles, and I have ALWAYS liked it for scooters, had one once, a Honda 75cc around 1980. LOVED that little thing.

Found a couple links on Google for positioning pictures on WordPress blog…but you prob read them all. It DOES look like a little work, although they write “easy” etc. HA!

So I.G. “Minutes now has an Archives page. I’m hoping everyone would see that and realize it is a CLASS ACT, the progress…My monitor displays some awkward “line-breaks” or spaces in the content? You prob know how to clean that up.

NOTE: A suggestion, if you don’t mind. The introductory content (NOT the minutes) might lead a new person to think they are not welcome at an Intergroup Meeting. Plz read it and see if you agree. Thanks–I’m not in the habit of criticising your work…

How was Polly’s birthday party for special friends on the Isle of Capri. There is a restaurant out there “Pelican Bend” right past the Uhhh, FOURTH turn I think–on the right side. BEST sauteed Grouper you’ll EVER eat, also best Blue Cheese Dressing on a large quarter-size of fresh lettuce. I used to go there at least once a month…Should I resort to Bob’s words? TRY IT–grin

In case we don’t bump into each other, this is my chance to with you a WONDER FULL HAPPY BIRTHDAY, wherever you go, and whatever you do. Blessings, my friend. (302 words)

OMG… 302 words. Next thing you’ll be blocking my address from your “comment” area. (sigh)

My car is running nicely now and no light is appearing. Should I trust there is really a $1400 issue? Ugh – I just can’t figure this stuff out sometime. I’m sure if my extended warranty covers it I’ll go with it. The Party was GRAPE on Isles of Capri. I rode RED. Pictures to come on Wylie this morning.
