Hello Everyone,
It’s cold this morning – 68 in the house and 50 outside:
I even found a bathrobe to wear this morning since it was cold. Wylie got me up at 3:45 to feed her and now she’s back sleeping in the bed. I can’t figure out how to get her to stop that early morning wake up call. Of course keeping her out of the bedroom would be the answer, but that’s not gonna happen. At least I go back to sleep a little after that “sleepwalking” down the hall to the kitchen. Well if Bill and Cathy spend the night when they visit, it might be interesting to have that going on.
Yesterday there was a “Christmas” Tree lighting at Moorings Park. My friend Jessica took this picture.
We like to do things early at Moorings Park so it wasn’t dark yet. They did this around 4PM. It’s funny what happens when you live in a retirement community. I always laugh about the “balloon drop” on New Years Eve. It happens at 8PM – so much for the Midnight Countdown. But I’m one to talk. I never make it to midnight anymore. I’m in bed by 9. This year, though I may go to my friend Suzee’s place and walk down the street to see the fireworks from the Pier from across the Gordon River. She said that at 4th of July it was great. On New Years – weather permitting, I’ll probably stay up until 10 so I can see the fire works. That is one thing I miss about not living down town. I could watch the fireworks from my street and didn’t get “stuck in traffic”. Now that I live out here, I should try to get to Sugden Park to watch the fireworks there. We’ll see how it goes on Suzee’s street this year and I’ll probably do that each year.
OK so the saga of my little Rose continues. I “googled” Yaw sensor on VW Beetle and a bunch of stuff came up. The mechanic that my friend John at work “swears by” said the part was really expensive and that it had to be “programmed” at the dealer so it wouldn’t do any good having an outside guy put it in since I would need to have the dealer program it. Sounds like a “crock” to me. But anyway, after reading a little bit about the sensor, I was “sensing” that it wasn’t “all that necessary” . I asked John to ask his guy about his opinion of the sensor and it came back that it isn’t really that important and that the car will be fine without it. So I’m getting a final opinion from Doug’s mechanic to see if he concurs. Also, I called my “extended” warranty company “just to be sure” it wasn’t covered. The nice girl at the end of the phone said that “indeed” it “wasn’t covered. I told her that I wasn’t willing to pay $1400 on the car to fix it and she said that her boyfriend who is a mechanic fixed her car once by just resetting the light that kept coming on so that made me feel a little better that my light isn’t such a big deal. I usually don’t get all that worked up over fixing my car. I just go ahead and do what they say it needs, but I guess the $1400 was just “TOO MUCH” and I’m feeling mostly fine about not getting it fixed and not having to trade in my car for a new one.
I learned something yesterday about Moorings Park. Remember I was talking about the “Christmas Gift” we get this time of year? The Resident Council sent out a letter about the tally for this year. They gave out checks to 736 partners. I had no idea we had that many partners! AMAZING! I love Moorings Park! I hope I can last there for another 5 years at least. My first step toward retirement will be signing up for Medicare 90 days before my birthday in 2015. I put that on my calendar already. I’ve been told it can be done “on line” so I’ll look forward to doing that. There is a woman at work who is just a little older than me and she’s keeping me “up” on the process. She’s gone through it with her husband and she will be doing it shortly herself. That’s another reason to keep working – it’s good to have people around who have “done that”!
Yesterday I was trying to do a “good deed” by offering to take a woman to a meeting who isn’t driving any longer. I left her a message and she didn’t return my call. But I missed the 5:30 Woman’s meeting at Common Solutions and Polly went to it. She texted me whether I was coming or not, but by then I was home and wouldn’t get there so I’m going to “try” again next week, although with Bill and Cathy around, I’m not sure how the week will go. I’m going to a “Grand Opening” of a friend’s catering business today after work, so I will probably get to the “Cookie Meeting” tonight. At least that is my plan at this moment. We’ll see how the day goes!
Time to sign off for today. I hope you have a wonderful day today and thanks for visiting!

A good blog today, Mary–like the holiday spirit is “moving in”. I’m imagining the eight-o’clock PM “Balloon-Drop”–PRICELESS!
When did it happen? When did all the people my age begin disappearing before midnight on New Year’s Eve?
This year I’ll have a nice, freshly brewed Colombian coffee, a HERSHEY BAR, relax and BE IN–revel in?–the moment, the quiet of whispering Eternity.
And alone I’ll witness the Universe move from one “age” to the next. And do you know what? Instead of a “wake” for last year or celebration for the New Year, I’ll just…I’l jus…um..wellshshsh…
zzzzzzzzzzzzzz(snort)zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz……….
5 hours later: “DAMMM-IT Missed it AGAIN!

Don’t know what is a “good blog” Only know that you write very well and interestingly. It is like reading a book in which another’s life…ummm, comes to life. And I realized that I seldom comment on WHAT YOU wrote. Nope, I don’t analyze, just enjoy the “easy” read. Also it inspires me to be kind and helpful to others, when I read all you do in that regard…AND I LOVE CATS. OK?
