Ms. Days Ease RV Life #146 5/23/20

Good Morning COVID-19 Warriors!  Today is Saturday, May 23, 2020.  It is Memorial Day Weekend 2020.  The beginning of the “summer” camping season.  Not camping yet, but will be soon I hope.  I went to a Virtual RV Rally for 3 days this week.  Learned a lot of things in the seminars.  There were 18 scheduled seminars, 17 happened and I attended 8 live ones.  The other ones have been uploaded to a website called “Teachable” and I can access the ones I missed for a year.  I liked most of the seminars I attended.  I especially liked the one on Fantasy RV Tours.  While attending this one I texted Forrest (remember him?  He was the guy camped next to me at Ft. Stockton on my way back to AZ from FL who owned a Born Free and struck up a conversation during the COVID crisis) about his tour to Mexico to see if he had used them for his tour.  He hadn’t for his Mexican tour, but has used them in the past and felt they did a great job.  I’m looking at a tour of the Badlands in Utah.  I may try that in a year or so.  It’s a little pricey, but not all that bad when you consider they do all of the reservations and supply meals occasionally.  So I’m thinking about it.

I got this done yesterday:

This morning I walked out and sat down and had my first cup of coffee.  I love sitting out there and eating my lunch!  With the screening, it will be cooler at lunchtime and I can sit out there in the afternoons too and watch sunset over the mountains.  It’s pretty wonderful!

Here is the other end of the porch in the morning sun:

This is a picture of my “TEAM”.  Bubba and Dennis – nicknamed Bubba Grump!  Dennis is a bit arthritic and Bubba is a young, strong buck.  Dennis is a mentor for him I think.  Dennis is a very nice guy and very kind in the way he teaches.  I sat out on the porch while they worked a little and thoroughly enjoyed watching their interaction.

So blessed to have these two to build my new porch!  They were incredible!  I plan to email their boss Art to tell him what a great job they have done!

So my rose plant came back:

I’m keeping it out of the brutal sun and under the carport near my back door.  I planted the palm I had on the porch in the front garden.  I hope it survives out there.  I think it will.  I just need to remember to water it.  The “succulent” plant is doing well.  I think it has grown a bit.  I put the bonsai plant out on the porch where the palm had been.  It looked like it needed sun and it will get more sun out there I believe.  Hopefully Metaxa will leave it alone and not bite the leaves.

So this morning Jennifer sent me this in a text:

Holy Cow!  First of all, I can’t believe that Jennifer still kept this after all these years – 44 to be exact!  OMG – I could have been married for 44 YEARS!  So the funny thing is – I just had 3 attendants (Carol Ann would have made 4 but she was pregnant and couldn’t be in the wedding) and Beirne had 7 ushers!  Wow – what memories!  Notice the date:  September 11th!

I’m going to drive to Sierra Vista to take my clogs to a UPS store to return to Amazon.  They were just too small and I have plenty of shoes.  I did buy another pair of “garden clogs” so I’ll have one pair in the house and one in Daisy!  They are great shoes to slip into and they are rubber so can take the water.

At the seminar yesterday, a woman named Susan reached out to me in a chat to pick my brain about RVing.  She lives near Denver, CO and is in the market for an RV.  We talked last night for an hour – that is a first – usually don’t talk that long on the phone.  But our lives are so similar it is amazing.  She retired a few years ago and traveled back and forth to Nebraska to help her ailing parents.  They have since passed so now she is thinking about going full time in a Class C motorhome.  She is searching for one today.  She found a THOR that doesn’t have any slides and is available at a dealer about 20 miles from where she lives.  So she’s on her way now.  We’ll see how that goes.  She does have more experience with RV’s and trailers than I had when I started.  She has driven them before, but mostly sat in the passenger seat so is a little hesitant to do it on her own.  I’m trying to convince her that she can do it.  She has a townhouse where she lives with her two cocker spaniels (remember Trigger?)

Her dogs are brother and sister, getting older (13) are rescues.  She wants to travel with them in the RV so is looking for something they can travel in.

Time to get going.  Gonna drive to Sierra Vista and go to the UPS store.  Thanks for visiting!  Be Calm, Be True, Be Quiet!
