Good Evening Everyone! How are all of the COVID-19 Warriors? I’m doing just GREAT! I traveled from Benson, AZ to Cottonwood, AZ and I’m staying at Verde Valley RV Park which is a Thousand Trails Park. So the good news is that it costs me “0” to stay here. So far I’ve spent $55 on gas and that’s it! I towed OTIS2 without any issues. Even getting gas was a piece of cake – I was worried about it. The roads were pretty busy so I guess people are “going out” now. I got caught in only one traffic jam because of a fire on the side of the road. Here is the notice during the back up:
This caused about an hour delay, but it didn’t matter, I had plenty of time and got here about 2:30. Look at all of this equipment:
My GPS had me get off of Hwy 10 for just an exit and then I got right back on. It was weird.
Then the other thing that happened was that I turned on a road that said Verde Valley Road, but it was totally wrong. There were about 7 traffic circles along 260 but I didn’t know that and thought the GPS was just repeating an old direction, come to find out that wasn’t true. Fortunately I could get right back on Hwy 260 without any problems (like having to unhook OTIS2 and back up). Thank you Lord!
This park is HUGE! I’ll try to get a layout of the campsites from the web somehow. I am in Site 87 in section H. I’m next to a young couple but our doors are on the opposite side of each other for privacy. Believe it or not, it seems pretty private. People are not socializing.
I went for a nice walk this afternoon and it was nice and cool. Probably around 75. I saw this on my walk:
It’s a “baby” Born Free. It looks like it might be about 20 feet. It’s the first one I’ve ever seen in an RV Park! Here is another look:
I just realized that there must be a “back door”, unless you enter in only from the cab. I’ll need to go check that out tomorrow.
So I discovered that getting Metaxa in a carrier is not the easiest thing to do. All I can say is I’m glad I had OTIS2 hooked up last night because getting her in Daisy was stressful enough. So this happened:
Lesson learned – always wear long pants when trying to get her “caged”. SHE HATES IT! Can’t blame her. Then I only had those little bandaids in my “junk” drawer so tomorrow I’ll get a better supply of bandaids in there. Anyway, I’ve also come up with a better plan. I’m going to use my hard sided crate to shove her into and close the door quickly. The problem with the portable carrier is that I need to try to hold her in there and then zip it up. But just holding her in there is bad enough – trying to zip it up – impossible! So if I get her in the big crate, I can let her out in Daisy and then return the big crate to the house. I’ll try to remember that next time!
Time to hit the sack now. It’s been a long day. I’ll continue this tomorrow so come on back! Thanks for visiting!
