Ms. Days Ease RV Life #155 6/13/20

Good Morning COVID-19 Warriors!  Today is the beginning of 2 days of a Virtual Founder’s Day from Akron.  I have the ZOOM meeting minimized so I can go to it when it starts which is I don’t know when.  It is 7:30 AM where I am, 6:30 AM in Benson.  I could go to the website to figure out when in starts, but we’ll see how that goes.  Anyway, I have some excitement to tell you about today so stand by!!!!!

I was merrily driving Ms. Days Ease down the road enjoying the new landscape.  There were some super rock structures along HWY 160 in northern AZ and southern UT.  That is when I wish I had someone with me to take pictures along the way from the cab, but really I don’t want to travel with anyone in my camper – just not enough room.  So take my word for it – so incredible!  I’ve never seen anything like it before!  First I left Cottonwood and drove through Flagstaff.  Very high – I think we got up to 6000 feet.  Daisy drags pulling OTIS2 – can only go about 35 mph.  But who cares – no time constraints so let them all pass me!  I went through Tuba City on 160 and then I was in the Navajo Nation.  Not much going on there, but what there was looked pretty depressed.  Lots of poverty it was clear!

So I’m 1.6 miles from my turn north on 191 to my destination in Monticello, UT at Old West RV Park.  Owned by this guy:

More on him later.

All of a sudden I started rocking and clunking and slowing down.  Then my Air Pressure Monitor begins beeping and one of my back passenger wheels has lost pressure and begins to BEEP!  Luckily – TUG – there was a Sinclair Gas Station on my route:

You can see that the tire is a bit flat on the outside.  The noise of it was terrible and shook the daylights out of Daisy.  I was so afraid that things would break – like the fridge – plus I could only drive about 20 mph.  I was lucky that the gas station was there – for many reasons!  Anyway, a couple of RVers were at the station too – one that had been following me for a long time with their vintage camper.  They asked if they could help – so nice!  Anyway, I have roadside service through Coach Net.  I forget how much I paid for it – long ago – but WOW – they were super.  The phone service was very spotty where I was so that was difficult – kept dropping the call!  I didn’t panic though.  Surprisingly enough!  So I got through to them and after explaining where I was, they got right on it to get a service guy to me.  So about 1 hour later they call me again and say someone was “on the way”.  Meantime, this was the outside temp:

My generator was working but I couldn’t get my AC to work in the coach – Bill subsequently reminded me that the generator has a breaker that is probably flipped.  He said if the AC works on plug in power, then it isn’t the breaker inside the coach and must mean that the generator is working but not producing power to the coach.  I’ll check that next time – I hope I won’t need that again.  So that is the reason I was glad I was at a gas station since I had to keep the engine running.  Plus gas was only $1.98 a gallon so I filled up for the remainder of the trip to Old West RV Park.

So DEVON’S Service was my hero for the day!  It was a repair service from all places Monticello – 2 hours away.  So at 3PM Coach Net called to say that they were on the way.  The guy who got there in 2 hours was Kim – his dad was DEVON!  Anyway here he is fixing Ms. Days Ease:

Now remember it’s 108 outside!!!!  Here is his truck:

Pronounced DEEEVON.  My angel!!!!  So the bill came to $104 – and worth every penny.  The good news too, was that the tire wasn’t compromised so didn’t need to get a new one.  The air tube was destroyed, so that will need to be fixed but I’ll get it fixed in Benson at Del’s when I get home.  Now the Air Pressure Monitor is not set up on the outside tire – now this is the same tire that lost air on the way out to AZ and Del’s fixed it for me and suggested I get the $500 tire pressure monitor system – which I believe is a good system since it keeps track of the tire pressure in all 6 (5 now) tires.  So for the remainder of the trip, I’ll keep getting a periodic beeping because of it.

This is my view out of Daisy at Old West RV Park.  I am in the “overnight” pull through:

Here is the view out of my other side:

I’ll be moving shortly.  I’m in no rush.  I have all day to do this.  I need to call Prospect now to let them know I won’t be in until tomorrow.

I did a quick video of this place in UT.  Sweet place:

Sorry about the wind!

So back to Jim.  Here is the video he includes in an overnight visit to his RV Park.

Come to find out that he is an “Exhibition Shooter” and has a YouTube channel with his stuff on it.  I’m going to research that on YouTube today.  Anyway, he owns this little campground.  Sweet little office.

He even has a campground host named James? (I know his son’s name is Mark) who just got in 2 days ago so is “finding his way”.  He is in a Class A Bounder.  Anyway, beside this business, Jim has a dirt moving business or something.  He had 2 baby toe hammer toes and just had them both operated on a couple of weeks ago.  It’s difficult for him to walk.  He had a by pass surgery last year so he’s on the mend.  When we get our age, it’s usually what we talk about – grateful that I don’t have those types of problems.  Anyway, come to find out also that he was a police officer in Blanding for 18 years.  So definitely an interesting life.  He is the kindest guy!  He even stood on the street last night waiting for me to direct me to my slot.  Fortunately it was before it got dark and I had no issues with coming in.  AGAIN – TUG!.

Well I’m going to stop for a while.  I need to move Daisy & Otis and then I may go for a walk.  It’s so windy today, but a walk would do me good, plus my watch is bugging me about no exercise yet today.  I may add to this later.

I’ve moved:  my view of the mountains behind me:

That’s it for now.  Walk is done, time for lunch.  Thanks for visiting and following me on this GREAT Adventure!  Come Back!

What happened to the tire? Caused it to go flat? You’re meeting all sorts of interesting folks out there in that hot desert
