Good Morning Monday, December 29, 2014

Hello World,

I’m thinking about my 3 day week this morning.  It will be busy but I’ll get through it and then have 4 days off again.  After the first week of January, I’ll be driving to Sarasota for the Quarterly.  It’s a good thing I have those 4 days off so I can get my reports ready for Area, District and Intergroup.

I just saw a reminder on my phone that today is Vanessa and Joe’s Anniversary.  I still miss Vanessa.  Here she is:

Vanessa finally gets a dog!

Vanessa finally gets a dog!

I’ll need to go find her on FB and wish them a Happy Anniversary.  Be right back!  I sent her this picture:

My 3 Cats on the porch

I love this picture.  It was taken on my front porch “downtown”.  It really gives you a sense of the way they are together.  Big ole Domino, “domineering” Wylie, and sweet little Metaxa!  She’s doing it again this morning – that basket is never going away from my table!:

Too Cute!

I usually go on FB each morning to get some ideas from various posts I see.  These two pictures I “stole” – oops I mean “downloaded”:

This is really paradise!

What a majestic bird!

Now these are beautiful pictures and “Wylie” has them forever.  You never know when they’ll pop up again.  I have a favorite picture of a Naples Beach scene I took years ago that reminds me of this one.  It’s on my “desk top” so I’ll have to get it one day and put them side by side.  I use it as my “screen saver” on my desktop.  It’s one of those pictures that came out of my camera that was just a “fluke”.  Like this one:

But I love those pictures.  They “center” me when I’m doing the whirly thing in my head.  I can just look at those pictures and they calm me down.  Especially the light house.  I have another picture I took as a “fluke” from the porch of my little cottage at Chatham, that does the same thing for me.  Let me see if I an find that picture:  be right back.

My little porch in Chatham

My little porch in Chatham

I love the way the sun is shown on this porch and the view of the lake in the background.  So many great memories during the time we spent with my cousins in Chatham.  I think the first time I went to Chatham was when I was about 2.  There was an area going down from the cottages through the woods that had a little “pricker bush” with thorns on it and I got stuck on one and couldn’t get loose and I began to cry.  Well, don’t you know all 4 boys (my brothers and my cousins) wouldn’t let me forget that little girly thing – all my life!  Then there was the time that Dick was bitten by a tick (that was a problem up there) and got sick with “Rocky Mountain Spotted Fever” and had to go to the hospital.  One of our fondest memories was picking up the trash.  Mr. Swenson, who owned the place, would get up early in the morning and drive around in his beat up pick up and empty the trash bins that were outside of the cabins.  All 5 of us kids would get up and beg to go to the “dump” with him.  He always took us.  When Bill and Cathy were here and we had dinner at the Dock with Dick (Hickory Dickery Dock), we talked about that – 62 years after it happened!  Now that is FAMILY!  Never forget – like Elephants!

Dick has all kinds of pictures from the “old days”.  One in particular he has which he has promised to send me, is where we are all lined up near the shore line – tallest (David) to shortest (me) in our “matching” white terry cloth beach cover ups.  My mom and my Aunt Peg (mom is in the middle, Aunt Peg is to the right):

I’ll have to remind him to do that so I can add it to my collection of family pictures on my “family wall of shame”:

Well, time is up for today.  I’m ready to “Seize the day”!  Have a beautiful day today.  Thanks for visiting!

Interesting–and admirable–how you plan (loosely) your weeks and months ahead. Giving yourself plenty of “flex”, you have not the anxiety that most of us experience. YOU seem to have a gift–capability–to change anything and/or everything in regard to your own plans for a day. Some of us regret and become dismal if everything does not go just as we planned–or dreamed. HAH! God smiles happily at this as well.

And remembering family and friends from way back–well, I started doing that at age three, and continue until NOW! It is fun, so long as I do not dwell on some of the bad (I DO). God gave me memory (wish I could remember this) to CHANGE myself, and my way of thinking…otherwise I begin remembering GOOD stuff and relationships…and wind up, where the memory trail almost always leads downward. Shame on me.

Of course, we ALL enjoy staying in the NOW, this moment, whether we know/admit it or not! B/c that is where God eventually wants us–in the Eternal Now! (HAHA! Sounds like I’ve been reading too much RR.)

I never tire of looking at Metaxa-pictures, have “saved” a couple of them. For my background file. Also family photos–ALWAYS interesting, as are mine also. I always wondered if they interested anyone but me–now I know they DO, because I like viewing yours–and others.

I altered the PORCH IN CHATHAM a little–will send it, as I am not able to post photo on your blog…

FAMILY TREE wall of photos is a great idea, I have seen others do that–it KEEPS us in knowledge that we are a PART OF, right? Gonna have to take mine OUT of a book, and frame a few…

Used to be I write a blog every day, and read a dozen or more of others’ and commented on them. Since FaceBook, I only find time for reading one, and I guess, my comments here ARE my daily blog, piggy-backing on your WordPress (that way I don’t have to “learn” it. So I take in and smell the air, have pleasant thoughts, and tonight have been invited to my daughter’s house out near Ave Maria. Hope I remember to BE STILL, learn to contemplate and…relax (sometime!) Bye!

Just learned your daughter lives in our area. Did you ride Flex? I still remember that ride to Ave Maria!

We were going to go to Ave Maria the first time with the mishap. Then we did it again and made it all the way out there that time.
