Buster’s Adventures #3 10/10 & 11/20

Good Morning COVID-19 Warriors!  Day 192 for me.  Day 12 for Home with Buster!  First step in “Poo” for me.  I had my clogs on and didn’t see it and tracked it down the hallway into the den, as I was puppy proofing the dining room chairs.  They are piled up in the den right now – at least 4 of them.  I still need a couple to sit on.  He likes to chew on the bottom rungs of the chairs.  I know they can be repaired if I choose to do that.  I certainly don’t need them at the table just sitting there!

I’ve always seen the poo before.  So being barefooted in the house is a better bet – rather than shoes – although that can be hazardous when he is “nipping” at everything.  Note to self.  So we practiced with this today:

Once he gets in there, he settles down.  I need to remember to have his leash attached also.  I put one of the black hooks from the playpen on the plastic hook that comes with the bag.  I can’t get that to release easily and I’m hoping the black metal one will work better.  I’ll see next time we have a “session”.  If he gets scared, he will scramble around and perhaps escape.  I want the leash on him.  So it will be walking around the block to start and then to the trash each day as my exercise and then to the dog park, but after he gets his booster shot on the 20th.

Here is a picture of Jenn with Sammy:

I took a video of him entertaining himself this morning – now he is sacked out – wore himself out!  He is jumping up to the top of this fence.  I’m afraid he is going to hurt himself on it when he gets excited.  I’m thinking I could get another one to attach to the top of this one so he can’t jump up on it.  I’m going to have Josh attach it to the cabinets better than I have.  I’ve just tied it to the cabinet handles because I don’t know how to affix anything to the cabinets.  I bought some metal “eyes” that screw in, but I can’t get them into the hard wood.  Then I’m thinking that zip ties would work.  I posed this question to my Doggie Training team on the “secret – class only” FB page.  I’ll see what they think.  This fence fits perfectly across this space, so I’m hoping another one is the answer.

So here is the video of him entertaining himself:

He is still tired.  I think I’ll put him in the crate while I walk down to the trash and mailboxes.  I don’t get much mail, but I always check it anyway.  Speaking of that.  I called my mailforwarding company through Escapees and asked about my absentee ballot.  It’s there so they will send it in the mail next Wednesday and I’ll return it RIGHT AWAY.  GO JOE!

Holy Cow!  What a world we live in right now.  I’m so grateful that I’m in a rural place.  Can you believe that Militia groups plotted to kidnap and perhaps kill Gretchen Witmer from Michigan?  WTF!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!  So glad I’m in AZ.  Anyway – crate time and then a little exercise – BTW I’ve lost 5 pounds with my little puppy!  He has gained it all!   So funny!

I am going to go get some 9 Volt batteries.  The smoke alarm in my bedroom is beeping and I don’t want to listen to that all day.  I’ll put Buster in his crate and go to the store.  I need a few other things too.  I’ll be back.  BTW – I took the 8 foot ladder out of Bill’s shed and brought it up here.  I thought when I took the battery out of the smoke detector it would stop beeping.  But OH NO – it doesn’t.  I think I’ll change the battery in the one in the den too since the ladder is here.  The one in the kitchen was changed a while back by one of the CT-RV guys & his ladder.  I feel confident with this ladder so I’m going to do it myself.  Buster will be out of the way.

MISSION ACCOMPLISHED!  No more tweeting!  YAY!

So on the way to go to ACE to buy the 9 Volt batteries, I passed by a neighborhood garage sale.  So I thought I would stop on my way back to CT-RV.  SCORE!

It was a cat bed – all washed and cleaned.  There were buttons holding the cushion down, but they had been torn out which was great because Buster would have eaten them and swallowed them,  $3!!!!!  I also got a Patagonia light wind breaker – I think it may be water proof – but it was only $5.  So that was fun!  First time at a Garage Sale!  They had great crates for dogs and if I didn’t have the one I have for Buster, I would have bought one.  But I didn’t need it.

This picture was taken 5 minutes after I put it down for him – he LOVES, LOVES, LOVES it!  It will also fit nicely in the car seat so when we’re ready for that, I can put it in there for him.

I told Jenn about the new bed and she sent me this picture:

Jennifer’s grandfather made it as a Doll Bed!  So cute!  It’s so perfect and obviously Sammy loves it.  AWWWWWWW!!!!!!!

This is in the den for the next 6 months:

So I put this on top of the crate to reward Buster when he stayed quiet in the crate when I went out and to the store:

So tonight I took it off the top of the crate when he figured out what was up there.  He is so smart.  It’s difficult to train him consistently.  He catches on quickly, but sometimes I forget the pattern I should be using.

SO on a personal note.  I’ve been eating the Tovala meals.  This month I’m thinking that it is saving me some grocery money.  Every meal I have ordered has been delicious.  Here is tonight’s Chicken Parmesan:

This one is only 15 points.   Many of them are 25 points so I won’t get them any longer, but I must say I’ve enjoyed every one of them.  I just get the chicken ones.  I did try a pork one and I think it got over cooked because it was tough.  The chicken dishes are really good.  The chicken breasts are marinated and really tender.  I have not been disappointed and such an easy way to cook.  Just as easy as nuking dinner but this food is much fresher.  I think I’ll just buy them twice a month to supplement my frozen dinners.

I am continuing this blog on Sunday the 11th also.  I’ve decided to do this:

I moved all of the furniture (the table and liquor cabinet) into the living room so I could roll up the rug.  It took about an hour because I had to move the furniture very slowly so I didn’t break a leg.  Once the rug was rolled up, I could only do this with it:

It is REALLY heavy!  It just may stay there.  We’ll just have to see how much he messes with it.  I rolled it up the wrong way.  There is a hole in the carpet and I’ve covered it up with the scratching post but now that it is rolled up, the hole was visible.  I put duct tape over it, but he is still trying to mess with it.  I’ve rolled it over so it is covered but now the outside edge can be messed with, so I may need to have it moved on Tuesday with Josh.

Next step to get rid of the pee pads.  This is against Michele’s advice, but I’ll keep trying.  I think he’s still a bit young but probably it’s my issue more than his.  More will be revealed.

Can’t end this with out the picture of the day!  Pooped in the food tray:

I guess that is about all for now.  I think I’ll take a nap.  Buster is sleeping in the kitchen and Metaxa is out on the porch.  I’m going to lie down on the couch & read (aka napping).  Thanks for visiting!
