Buster’s Adventure #5 10/13/20

Good Morning COVID-19 Warriors.  Today is day #195 for me.  IT IS A GREAT DAY in the State of Arizona and this is why:

JOSH IS MY HERO – setting up my house for Puppy proofing.

#1:  Puppygate:

This entrance had been blocked by the Sit-N-Cycle but now the gate is so much better.  It will allow us to walk out through the “Pooping & Peeing” door.  Guess what?  Metaxa is so thin she fits through the gap at the wall.  Buster is TOO WIDE!  There is another section of this gate that could be used but it didn’t fit, so I’m keeping it by the washing machine for when I can remove the gate – in a year or so!!!!!!  Soon I’ll have “bells” hanging for him to ring when he needs to go out.  In a dream world, but I thought I would try it anyway.  So now I have this:

Now I have a Sit-N-Cycle like the one I gave to Suzan before I moved – didn’t want to add it to the weight of the move, but subsequently decided I wanted one because when it gets really cold here – my bike riding is not going to be outside and this will be a good way to get exercise while watching TV.  It is very portable – it has 2 little wheels in the front that allows it to be dragged easily.

Josh also did this for me:

He put in some eyes and fastened it with Zip Ties.  This way, when the new gate comes in, I can fasten it to the other eyes that are on the wall.  I think I mentioned in the last blog the the new gate can be configured into a playpen, too.

So now I’m ready for that to arrive too.  The shorter wooden gate will be used around the house to block off Buster from getting to the kitty litter.  I don’t think he knows what it is yet, but I don’t want him to know either.

So now that Christmas has happened in October – Buster is plumb tuckered out.  I love it that he loves his new $3 bed.  SO now the Piece de Resistance:

And this:

His new CRATE!  I LOVE IT.  I hope he will too.  It is just the right size for now and later.  Plenty of space for him to move around and settle.  “Settle” is my new “buzz” word for him.  It keeps him calm – at least I’m going to try to get him to sleep in it.  That was the plan all along.  I just needed the crate to really get that to happen.  Pray for us!

The final project that I had JOSH do was this:

Now it won’t blow away and can be unattached by the caribeaners and can be folded up for camping.  So this is my question for the ZOOM meeting tonight for Buster at 5PM.  When we go out to the pee-pen he does this:

He lies down and then tries to jump up in the corner where the hooks are to put it together for his “escape”.  Sometimes he walks around on the concrete but mostly he lies down.  SO should I place him on the grass and say “Poop? Pee?”  I’ve put a small piece of poop on it for his scent and each time he pees in the house, I run out with the damp paper towel and I rub it on the grass for his scent also.  Still not “getting” it.  So now I’m thinking, I have 2 extra boxes of tiles from my floor and perhaps if I put that out there also, he might get the hint.  But that would be like a “pee pad” which may not be such a good idea.  So maybe I can get an answer to those questions and more today at 5PM on ZOOM.  Stand by – more will be revealed.

UPDATE:  At 2 AM on Wednesday, October 14, 2020 – Buster peed OUTSIDE!!!!!  I am shouting it from the rooftops!  I almost texted everyone last night but I knew that would be too alcoholic!!!!!!!  He slept in his New crate all night too.  Now that was a BONUS!!!!!!!!!!!

So now I have made the pen outside much smaller and here is a picture of him with his new “BUSTER” tag with his microchip number on it.  He hasn’t peed outside again, BUT he will.  I know he’ll get it very soon!

The name of the pen company is “Lucky Dog” – I think I’m lucky and I know Buster is lucky!

Isn’t he ADORABLE!!!!!!!!!  I love him!
